  1. This is our first Princess cruise and I would like some clarification.  You can't pack wine in your checked luggage and if you do you have to pay a corkage fee?  Or is the corkage fee for someone bringing more than the allotted 1 per person, if so, what is the corkage fee for extra wine?

And I see you can bring bottled water on board with no problem.

  2. I've been following these posts and enjoying your periscope feeds, which was brand new for me. Looking forward to our first Oasis cruise in August - same itinerary and happy to hear about Margaritaville, which wasn't there the last time we were in Falmouth.

Chris, my main question is there a D+ lounge? I don't see a Concierge lounge, but a two level Diamond lounge and two Suite lounges. There is a thread with a bunch of rumors and thought someone on the actual ship would know the facts. Word is D+ are now in Diamond Lounge and Suite Lounge is for GS and above and Pinnacle only.

  3. Which street do you make the left from Ave E 45th, 40th or do you go down to 32nd? I've always gone to 32nd it just seems easier.

I like it when the Bayonne Bridge is open, that makes it even easier for me coming from the Parkway, through Staten Island, to Bayonne.

We go to 32nd. Looking at a map indicates 40th will take you in also. We also have taken 440 in further north and avoid that awful merge onto the turnpike extension by the airport.

  4. Get off at Newark Penn and cab it...prob 50 bucks...eek. But getting back, see the dispatcher...they will get you a shared vehicle for 16 or 17 bucks PP

We are on the Summit repo next Spring and using a parking garage in Newark. Is there a dispatcher at Cape Liberty that will secure a vehicle to take us back to the Newark parking garage? There will be a group and I wondered if they would have larger shuttles to accommodate 10 or 12 people.

  5. I wonder what they charge for a shot of vodka?

I was contemplating getting the Royal Replenish which includes non-alcoholic, coffees, waters, etc. It may be cheaper to get the shot and throw it into a virgin bloody mary. We have a port intensive cruise and since we have the Diamond Lounge, getting the Ultimate Package is a waste of money.

  6. Does anyone have any info on these cabins? Both seem to be on decks 6 and 7. Cat SB seems like a smaller cabin. Cat DO looks regular size. Would the obstruction be lifeboats? Cat DO comes to a savings of $350 over a D8 right down the hall .

We are thinking of sailing January, 2015. The first and last two days might be too chilly to even use the balcony but we always prefer the option of getting some fresh air.

We have a DO on the Quantum on Deck 6 mid-ship and the obstruction is the lifeboats.

  7. Both sets of grandparents and mom and dad born and brought up in Ridgewood. When my parents married, my dad was in the Army, so I was born in Fort Benning, GA, but when he was discharged they bought their lst house in.....WALDWICK! 75 Lincoln Place. After saving some $, they sold that house and we moved to Ridgewood. I grew up here and live here now also. And my cousins lived in....WAYNE! They moved in 1973 to FL. They lived at 15 Hershey Drive. It was all new construction at that time. They actually built the split level they lived in.

Ha, I babysat a family on Lincoln, but I don't remember the number. Maybe you were neighbors! We lived on the corner of Franklin Tpke and Park. I went to Traphagen and then the HS. Moved when I married and our first home was in Edgewater and we lived there for 21 years and moved up to Wayne 10 years ago.

  8. Karen, we are sailing on the same day. Miracle from Manhattan. Have never sailed in the winter either. And...my name is Karen, my brother's name is Pete and we named our son Pete after him, and....we live in northern NJ (Ridgewood):eek: But I guess we won't see you in Nassau!

And I grew up in Waldwick! Live in Wayne now.

  9. Most end around 5 or 6pm .. In the winter.. it's dark by 5pm..

Hilton bar/grill closes at 5... I think Sheraton does as well.

Arriving that late, I wouldn't pay for a day pass... there are public beaches you can use for a couple of hours.

Thank you, that's what I figured. We've been to Nassau before and took a nice tour with this great tour guide named Showtime. Maybe this time we'll do a walking tour and hit the Fish Fry first thing for lunch.

The earliest time of year we've ever sailed is mid March, so si should be interesting sailing in the middle of winter from NJ. Brrrrrr

  10. Has anyone from one of the August cruises who made it to the afternoon tea at the Bermuda Perfumery come back yet? If so, how was it?

Also, does anyone know anything about the dress code for this tea and the one at the Fairmont Princess Hotel?

Anyone know of any other good afternoon teas to consider in Bermuda?

We will be on the 9/2/12 NCL Star cruise. We are really looking forward to it. We definitely would like to try an afternoon tea somewhere while in Bermuda. Thanks.

    Be well,

    Jim & Al

I sent an email earlier today to Sweet P asking about the dress code and if slacks or capri's would be appropriate. I will post their reply once I hear back.

  11. I leave 2 weeks from Saturday and sail 2 weeks from Sunday:D:)

I will have a drink for you in the Martini Bar;).....

Everyone has their own way of doing things on a cruise...I don't

keep that close of a schedule. I can't remember the last time I was up at 7:00.

I am up very early here at home for work...(up at 5:30) and so I sleep in a little bit on a cruise...at least till 8 or 8:30:D;)

Hi Lois, you're leaving before us. Let us know how similar the Cape Liberty departure activity sheets are to the San Juan (of course the port of calls are different, but I was wondering about the tastings, and general activities).

    Thanks!

  12. We are two couples booked for the Zenith repositioning cruise (her finale b4 moving to Spain) and need two rooms. Have two sites in mind so far, both by Legends Field - the Holiday Inn Express and the Comfort Inn. Anyone have any opinions on these hotels or the location? I did notice the Chase Suite website and thought about that too. Can't see spending a fortune just to sleep since we won't be arriving until 7:30 PM. Need to save our $'s for Bloody Mary's, Dark & Stormy's and Martini's!

Thanks in advance for you help.............
