1. The emails i have seen suggest that they charge VAT on the $11.80(grats inc) in the UK, which returns a figure of $14.16

just off harmony and was charged the $11.80 to upgrade to DX. could still have the select pkge as given. They did not charge my seapass until out at sea so didnt pay the port tax. If add on land in UK then vat will be charged so wait till on ship to upgrade.

  2. I think I've moved from a "why bother with WoW bands" to "Maybe I'll pay the $5x2 and we'll give them a shot" since they can be re-programmed on future cruises.

That, and I actually like the idea of being tracked for market research and (hopefully) getting notifications perhaps on my phone that there's some coupon discounts I can get. Now that would be ideal.

You have to make sure that the muster station is the same as printed on previous cruise on your wow band, I took mine on Anthem in Mar to re use and was told that i could swap, but as a one off. In future, i was told i would have to buy a new band.........:(

  3. I believe that Captain Gus got off Quantum yesterday. We were on the Jan 23rd cruise and he said 2 more cruises and he was getting off. However,Captain Srecko is not back until April. I cannot recall who is filling in until then. Maybe some one onboard can confirm. We board next week (Feb 20th).

Its Capt Henrik Loft, Capt Gus will go to Anthem after his vacation.

  4. Royal Caribbean Brand Communications Manager Harrison Liu also discussed the future of Dynamic Dining, "As we continue to gather guest feedback we will evaluate ways to continue to elevate the Dynamic Dining experience to give our guests the choices and flexibility we know they desire. As we introduce Dynamic Dining to other ships in the fleet, further dates and details will be confirmed. "

This is official from royal caribbean as posted on another blog site.

Note; as we introduce DD to other ships in the fleet.

  5. The problem for me is not that it is a different cruise of experience. That's exactly why I originally booked. The problem are the many glitches and poor execution many have encountered in the execution of that experience.

I really do hope RCL listens to the many critics of the Quantum. It will make it better for everyone in the future.

IMHO........I say again you need to re book on QOS you will love it.......

  6. I love both Celebrity and Royal, my best ships are Reflection and Allure.

Quantum is the best of both of these ships with the WOW factor.

D Dining is new and totally different to the MDR experience, i loved it and the best spec returant has to be wonderland,,,,,freaky in a good way.

I was on Quantum in Nov and back on in Mar so cant wait,

So sorry you have cancelled as you say you like X and royal too you would have loved it.......

So many people are comparing QOS to radiance, freedom and oasis class and thinking it will be the same its not. its a totally different/unique class/style of crusing.

And to complainers just dont go on a new ship till at least 6 months out period.

  7. Why so much negativity?

Probably because of a couple of reasons, one being that there were a large number of glitches on the first voyages.. The other reason is because there are a lot of top tier Crown and Anchor cruisers who think they own Royal Caribbean and therefore can decide what Royal builds, how they build it, how they run it, and (especially) what dining program they offer.

We DISEMBARKED the QUANTUM TODAY after a 19-night Back2Back and would rate our experience as a 12 on a 1-10 scale if it were allowed.

The Quantum is FANTASTIC. Yes, she is still experiencing a few glitches but nothing that would detract from the joy available on this ship!

Royal Caribbean created an amazing ship with equally amazing entertainment and dining. If the QN is the Royal Caribbean model for new-builds in the future then I am all for it.

    Beachnative.....I "LIKE" your post........

  8. Are there any TAs out there lurking who are having the same issues as ourselves.......

I have called RCL customer services and loyality today and diverted to RCL Guatamala it was a frustrating experience......

I did not have questions but knew what i wanted and they were in a muddle. Was rescued one last time by my now ex RCL PCS, who will be able to book X for me....Phew.

  9. Gee. thanks for the reminder. So, as you have reminded me, it has been a gradual decline in service, after all. But, now it seems that the service in the dining room is even worse! (Even the quality of the complementary wines on board have declined; but at least there are other options for sale -- but not the kind of wine list that once was available.) This may be a reflection of how Azamara's position within the RCCL food chain has evolved over the years. But, few people care about that. I only care about my experience on board and generally I have been satisfied over the years with Azamara despite the standard challenges that come with cruising.

Nevertheless, I must admit that I thought long and hard about doing the SE Asia trip this past Christmas-New Years because of some concerns with the on board product that Azamara offers. The itinerary which included three days in Yangon was the selling point. The Azamara itineraries cannot be beat. (I also did a wonderful itinerary on the Journey about two years ago in the Med with two nights overnight in Seville.) But, as I have come to realize, if you wait a year, other ships tend to offer the same unique itineraries.

Everybody must choose for themselves what value they expect from a cruise ship. Although I was willing to give Azamara the benefit of the doubt for the SE Asia trip this past Christmas, the last trip for me was a deal breaker given the changes in basic levels of service on board. Frankly, it made me wonder if Azamara was trying to focus less on a U.S. market, especially for its Asia itineraries.

But, thanks for reminding me of other issues that I have had on Azamara over the years. It only makes me more resolute to take my business where it is more appreciated.

    tom

What cruise line/s are you thinking off now if you are ditching Azamara ???????????............

Please dont try Celebrity, I have just come off Reflection and the Miami DJs were boom boom boom every night in the martini bar whilst i drank my stoli elite martini on my fully included inclusive drink premium package....

But I LOVED the cruise one of the best and I did B2B........:D

  10.
Just off Reflection and did not encounter ANY music at "deafening" or "concert level" volumes.

DJ music was appropriately loud late at night at the Sky Lounge and of course at the Martini Bar - it's clearly part of what makes this place hop and attract a large crowd. DJ music may have been loud at times (especially if sitting near the speakers) around the pool (not my scene so we sunned ourselves on the deck above - not loud at all) but it didn't seem to drive anyone away.

Live music in the public areas (even after a week I never did quite remember if there were one or two of these spaces) whether it was top 40 by Vibes or swing by the big band (can't remember their name) was loud but certainly not ear splitting - does anyone REALLY expect this sort of music to be played softly??? Live music in the theatre was obviously loud but no louder than any similar productions I have attended off ship.

Not once did we encounter "piped music" in public areas, atrium(s), restaurants etc. at levels anywhere near obtrusive. Not once did we have to raise our voices to enjoy conversation. Not once could we not find a pleasant spot (and typically several) somewhere on the ship to enjoy relative silence (I say relative as there's always some bozo who can't discern between talking and shouting). Not once were we unable to find a bar which was unsuitable for quiet conversation.

These discussions always remind me of my late MIL - a delightful woman but one with an infuriating habit of parking herself in front of one of my 4 foot high speakers at parties or large family gatherings and asking that the music be turned down. People, if you find the music too loud in one venue, why not simply move to another?

Once I've gathered my thoughts I'll be offering my review of Reflection on this board. In the meantime, I will simply say that the music on this (our first ever) cruise was a positive contribution to what was one of the most enjoyable weeks of our lives.
I LIKE your post.....
  11. I guess everything is relative and subjective. We just got of Reflecton and loved it. Until reading posts never thought twice that this ship is 'loud'. In fact the only time we were truly annoyed on a ship was on Princess with the Movies under the Stars or whatever it was. You could not escape a blaring movie or show soundtrack while using the pool. I had thought this was a neat idea until I experienced it. On S class you can always move over to the covered pool area which is absolutely silent.

I will be on Reflection 22nd Mar B2B so will report back with my thoughts....

On the other major blog site, we cant mention, there is no one complaining about LOUD music who have just returned just praise for the ship and crew.

These can be found on both the X and reflection pages.

    X reads them too......

  12. AA service from Man to JFK is 757 aircraft with 3-3 in economy 2-2 in business.

get the locator number and add it to aa.com to get your seats. If you like a bit more room and towards the front of plane then main cabin extra seats are good value. films are shown on overhead monitors not on seatback screens.

The flight time to JFK on average is around 6hrs.50mins.

The flight locator should be on your invoice P3, if you have booked in the Uk it will not be choice air but with X UK.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  13. Because you actually have to show up to event instead of just being given the vouchers.

This is the first I have heard about discontinuing the vouchers. The parent company has been trying the out on other ships.

yes it was being tried out on Indy OS, they were using e-coupons (3 drinks in any bar) attached to seapass card, the Dia lounge and concierge was still open and you could drink ad-lib in those lounges.

there was also no paper booklet-coupons they were all on seapass card. An A4 printed sheet was in cabin on embark day which listed all the perks.

  14. Just got off Indy after a 4 night party cruise and loved it.

yes the drinks vouchers are loaded daily to sea pass card and can be used anywhere......

the coupons booklet is no more and also loaded onto seapass card, you get a paper in cabin listing all the discounts and bartenders ask you if you want to apply the discounts before they charge you.

i think its a great idea as you can still socialize with folks that arnt diamond and get yer free drinkies.:)
