  1. I booked a one way rental from Stockton with Hertz and dropped it off a few blocks from the pier and walked back for $98. Granted, I didn't have to get car seats, but I don't think they are that much. I picked it up the night before so I could load up and leave early.

Otherwise try http://www.limos.com I have used the site several times to book car services all over the US.

Great idea to take a rental instead of paying to park! I’ll try limos.com, too. Thanks a lot!

  2. Have you checked East Bay Connection or Super Shuttle? If it were me, I would order or use a private car service .... it quite possibly could cost the same. My mom lives in Rio Vista, and there is a guy there, an acquaintance of hers, who drives people to the airport, SFO, et cet, on occasion. He’s been doing it for quite some time.

Not sure if his vehicle would accommodate s party of four. I could try to get his info for you if interested. He is not Uber or Lyft. He just offers his services mainly to people who live in Trilogy.

Thank you! Super Shuttle said they won’t come to our area, but I will try East Bay Connection. Thanks so much for the info!

  3. Hi there,

I’ve been looking for transportation to SF Pier 27 from our home in Brentwood and having little luck. I wondered if anyone can recommend a good transportation company? I have a 4 year old and an 8 year old, which means I don’t want to use BART (luggage + kids sounds like a nightmare!) or Uber/Lyft (car seat needed). I’m assuming a limo also needs kids to use car seats, legally... Has anyone found a bus/shuttle service from my area? Thanks! :)

  4. Just request what you want, we go for Parmigiano Reggiano ( you know the cheese they used to use for the basket of Alfredo pasta in a basket {now a thing of the past}. That and a piece of Gorgonzola Dolce and Heaven comes tumbling down. Enjoy. By the way a well placed piece of green paper is always appreciated

    Good idea/reminder! [emoji5]

  5. Try this:

Request a few chunky pieces of Grana Padano cheese from your server

Pour some olive oil in a plate

Sprinkle a few drops of Balsamic Vinegar on the olive oil,

Hard crust white bread dipped in above and then place a piece of the cheese on the bread

Indulge, you'll think you've died and went to heaven!

It is literally to die for!

That sounds amazing! Thanks for the name of the cheese, too! Do they keep the rolls/bread on the table through dessert, or do I need to snag a piece before they clean up?

  6. DH would frequently order this for dessert in the past. There used to be a variety of cheeses offered each night, but in the last couple of years it's the same cheeses every night so he orders it less often. It used to be a good way to try cheeses he wasn't familiar with; I don't remember what they are now, but they're nothing special. Sometimes you can find a better selection in HC. He loves the walnut bread that they have with the cheeses in HC.

Thank you - that helps a lot!

  7. No photo here but any waiter worth their salt will get what you want on that plate if it's on the ship. They learned our likes and brought it each time we requested. Hope you get some photos.

Thanks! I don’t really know what I like but would love the opportunity to try a few new cheeses. It’s nice to know that I can make requests if I find a favorite!

  8. Hello! My parents are currently on the Grand Princess (Mexican Riviera R/T from SF), and they sent me these photos of the Patters for the Camp Discovery Treehouse (ages 3-7) and Lodge (ages 8-12). We'll be on the Grand to Alaska this June, and since I've had very little luck finding any specifics about Camp Discovery, I thought I'd pass these along!

  9. Just got back from our cruise and wanted to let everyone know that the inside cabin had plenty of room for the four of us. We just kept the upper bunks folded up during the morning/day whenever we were in the room. There is lots of storage for all clothes and utilities. I would definitely do it again!!

I know this is old news now, but I wanted to say thank you for updating this post after your sailing! My family has booked a quad interior cabin for this June, and I think we are going into it with the same attitude as you - we're a close family, plus my kids are still young (8 and 4), and we'd rather cruise close than have no cruise at all! Thanks again for updating, and I'm so glad it worked out!

  10. no - plastic wrap(bad for the environment!) wrapped over top

and glasses are small - order 8-10, drink a couple, then pour the rest into an empty bottle for use latter in the day for your screwdrivers, mimosa's...;p

    Awesome idea! Thank you!

  11. And from room service at no charge at breakfast time.

Also, the juices available at the HC and MDR are more than just orange and grapefruit. If you prefer another type of juice, ask and they will let you know if they have it.

This is great to know - thank you! When delivered at room service breakfast, do they come with a lid?
