2 days!!! Woo hoo!!

Onboard right now and had no delay. Got the controversial FTTF and must say for us it was well worth it getting onboard. The line swellled at the Embark A area. They called for FTTF, but for us to go the empty Embark B area...bam onboard, straight to the room to drop luggage and off to lido for drinks and lunch

We are on the Victory on Friday and we have an 11-11:30 check-in time....wondering what time you arrived that the line for Embark A was so long? Thanks!

Most of us don't care......old ship....new ship.....we just want to cruise!

If you go on google you will see there is a shopping center with a Walgreens close by. Walk in the day light. The area is not "dangerous" but its not the best place to walk around at night, it is certainly not pedestrian friendly. Its a decent working class neighborhood.

We are staying at the Courtyard Miami Airport Marriott for1 night, pre-cruise - does anyone know if there are any stores within walking distance where we can purchase wine and sunscreen?

Just got off the Victory 4 day to Key West & Cozumel. I agree about the staff. They were really great. I'm going to write a review soon but overall the food was very good, the entertainment was great (especially Andy in the piano bar...omg he's great!)

Cabins are all updated nicely. We had a balcony on Lido. I like this ship's layout. Our first of this class was the Destiny back in 1998 & we loved it. Our favorite class is the Freedom/Conquest, but Victory was really nice. Loved the decor as well. I'm also now a fan of the 4 day cruise.

Are all the renovations complete? Are they still doing a 2 hr delayed boarding??

I just did the online checking tonight for our 4/10 cruise, got a boarding time of 11-11:30. Hopefully they stick to that time and I won't get the dreaded letter days before we cruise.

Let us know if you get any notice of delayed boarding......we're on the cruise right after you!

Does anyone know if all the renovations are complete on the Victory?? Are the boarding times still being delayed 2 hrs?

The general rule around here is to take the shuttle to the airport. It's quick and free.

Would you recommend dropping off a rental car with Budget before the cruise at the MIA airport and taking the shuttle or dropping it off at the Budget location on 89 SE 2nd street and shuttling to the port?

We just returned on 3/3 and they had all of the rooms on the port side of deck 9 shut down for renovation. In addition, the whole bank of port side elevators were unavailable on any floor during the day and not available on deck 9 at any time. This is how they ferry the old stuff out and the new stuff in. This was never an issue. We were on deck 10 and there was some noise and cutting noticeable but not a problem. The 2 hour delay allows them to remove the old fixtures and load the new fixtures.

We look forward to seeing the project completed. This is a great ship.

Any news on when the entire room reno project will be completed?

Mailed my passport renewal on 2/3 by priority mail, my check was cashed on 2/9 but I have not received my passport as of yet. We are leaving on 4/13 so I'm hoping it will arrive soon!

I believe it's like $3.00, but worth it IMO.

Listen ... I don't mean skip as in don't have any! But have you ever tried the dark chocolate layer cake from the Coffee Bar? OMG! I LOVE that so much more than ANYTHING on the dining room desert menu! I have gotten a slice & kept it in the room fridge and then eaten it later w/ coffee after show.

Are you charged for the cakes at the coffee bar?

We picked up a rental (2 adults plus 3 kids) from FLL and stayed in between FLL and Miami. It was nice to have our own vehicle. I picked a hotel with free parking but I would have gladly paid for the peace of having our own car. Drop off was no big deal. One thing I will recommend is that if you see a gas station closer to FLL then get your gas. There are not many gas stations near rental drop off.

 

When we returned from our cruise we did the same. Free shuttle to rental place and picked up a car. I purposely booked a late flight. We did everglade air boat ride to see the gators. It was a great! We flew back out of FLL.

Where did you rent your car from when you returned from your cruise??

The Residence Inn is in a great location and area. You will be able to walk to cocowalk if you want to go out that evening for a cocktail or bite to eat. And it's closer to the port for the next day.

 

Milam's market and Grove Liquors or Fresh Market are all fairly close to the hotel. Fresh Market can be on the way to the port. There isn't a CVS or Walgreen within walking distance and you would reach the markets before one of those.

I have not stayed in either property, but Coconut Grove is much nicer and way more fun than anything near the MIA airport. :cool:

 

It will also be slightly farther away -- so you'll drop a couple of extra dollars onto Uber. :(

Thanks! We will only be arriving in Miami around 10pm and going to port the next morning so I'm not sure if its worth staying in Coconut Grove?

Is anyone going on the Carnival Victory April 14th to the 17th, 2017??

Looking for some people to hang out with. Also any pointers on what to see in Naussau when we're there.

We are on this cruise........we are only planning to get off the ship briefly in Nassau. We have purchased the Cheers package for this short cruise so we are planning to stay mostly stay onboard to sit in the sun and enjoy our beverages!! Can't wait!!!

I was on last week, 2/20-2/24. They were done up through deck 8 and working on 9 starboard side. I would bet they finish 9 this week.
