  1. Read the policy and see your contract for the definitive answer from Princess, which basically says that you can bring one bottle of wine per passenger for consumption in your cabin , or in the dining room (with a corkage fee). But know that the general concensus among travelers is that Princess seems to be somewhat relaxed about allowing more than one bottle of wine. Many people have reported having no problem bring as much as a case on board with them.

Other alcohol and liquor is a different story though. Princess policy states that they will confiscate it and hold it for you until the last night of the cruise. This is also the policy with duty free liquor purchased on board the ship. But again, some posters have reported that a bottle or two, carefully packed in your checked luggage, may get through all right. Just be discreet about keeping and consuming it in your cabin.

  2. Did you book directly with the hotel and were the quotes for the other places also direct from the hotels? Often, you get better pricing by booking through a site like Travelocity or Expedia. It also depends on when you're coming to Vancouver. Prices are always higher in the summer and the middle of cruiseship season.

If you don't mind bidding (and your reservation is cancellable) I'd suggest trying for a 4* hotel on Priceline. I'm pretty sure you'd get something as nice or nicer than the Listel for less.

Well I did some more research and after looking at the TripAdvisor website, we decided to try the Times Square Suites. TA posters rated it their 2nd most favorite in all of Vancouver. The rates were only a few $ higher than Listel and we get a one bedroom suite with kitchen, washer/dryer and bigger more updated bathroom.

Anyone from this forum ever stayed there:confused: ?

  3. We just booked a room at the Listel Hotel for 3 nights at the conclusion of our Cruise/Tour on Princess. We have family in Vancouver and will be out with them each day. Just wanted a comfortable bed in the trendy part of town. Managed to get it for about $185/night US. Did we do all right? I was getting all kinds of ridiculously high quotes on nicer places and big numbers on other places that weren't rated as high as Listel. Closest price was The Sylvia with no A/C.

    Comments please...
