  1. I stayed at the Marriott Stellaris last year (bid through Priceline) and I will be staying again this year. We loved it. I bid way early to get it......I bid on March 28, 2006 for our stay which will be next week. I got two nights, two rooms, for $100 each, including all the taxes $463.00. Not bad for four people. I chose the "Resorts" category on Priceline.....I was hoping that I would get it again this year, and I did. I think last year I paid a bit more, $105 for a room. WELL worth it. We stayed one night last year, saw the Rolling Stones, and cruised out the next day. This year we are staying two days pre-cruise since we liked San Juan so much (no Stones show, though this year :( !) - but we liked our rooms, loved the pool, the beach, the location, etc. You can't go wrong!!

  2. I had actually forgotten the name of the cruise ship on which I took my second cruise.....poring through this thread "Whatever Happened To", it hit me. I also cruised on the Britanis in 1993, my husband's and my first cruise together, to Key West, Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel. At the time we booked it, our travel agent told us that it was the oldest cruise liner in service. She was old, but very well taken care of. It was the tiniest cabin ever - we had either a double or a queen sized bed, an inside cabin, and the bed took up most of the room! We were one of the lucky ones, our bathroom actually had been converted electrically so that I could blow dry my hair in it. Others on our deck had to go to a "group" room with the correct outlets. I remember having to iron my clothes there too.......! We had a wonderful time, the food was GREAT, the service great. It was my husband's first cruise - he was hooked! I wondered what happened to the ship. I also think it is fitting that she sank. Better that than taken apart and sold for scrap. :o

  3. I too, took my first cruise aboard Home Lines Oceanic. My mother took my two sisters and myself, we cruised to Bermuda and Nassau and Freeport, Bahamas. It was wonderful! We had the best time. They had the midnight buffets each and every night and we didn't miss one! I also remember rough seas when rounding Cape Hatteras - everyone onboard it seemed was sick. The Italian crew was most wonderful!

Didn't the Oceanic become "The Big Red Boat"? I don't know what happened to it.............
