OK, to anyone from the Oceania "higher-ups" who might read this forum, I'd like to make a suggestion: Why not open a window to the review site for a week after passengers disembark?  Between the poor internet access and the various things we are concerned about prior to leaving, wouldn't it make more sense to give folks a couple of days (post-cruise) to mull things over in order to give those special crew members we'd like to recognize their due? I guess I just don't see what the problem is and there were several crew members that I wanted to specifically compliment.

I definitely agree.  I am not ready to make an evaluation during the cruise.  I would much prefer an email evaluation once I get home.  Gives me a few days to put my thoughts together and an ability to comment on the disembarkation procedure.  Continue the current procedure for those who like it but add an after=cruise option.

Difference of $7100 CAD per stateroom for a future Vista 22 day cruise (B3 to A1). Even with the added Concierge amenities, it doesn't make sense for us.

I can certainly understand that. The success of Oceania's market strategy will hang on being able to fill those cabins.  Since this is a new ship I think the excitement will help them fill everything, but long term there may be adjustments.  We can only hope!

maybe the deck plans were wrongly marked & being corrected ?

usually the A1 are midship as you noted before

I think shifting the A1 cabins to the aft section is to take advantage of the extended balconies.  We love them.  Used to be B3 on the older ships, but I think Oceania finally realized they were being undermarketed.

We are booked on the Maiden voyage and the second cruise b2b - 14th April to 6th May 2023.

Waiting to start a roll call.

We will join you on the second leg through the Canary Islands.  Our TA got the cabin we wanted, an A1 with the extended balcony.  If the ship matches the brochures it will be spectacular.

When was your final payment due for your April 2021 cruise?

It was due on October 29th. Actually that's my TA due date.  They usually want credit card info a week before its due to the cruise line, so probably around Nov. 5th.

  6. I asked for a final payment delay on an April 2021 cruise earlier this week.  I was pretty sure the cruise would not go but I was willing to hold the reservation if I didn't have to pay the large final.  I contacted my TA who called Oceania.  They said no so we cancelled.

  7. Just returned from the Equinox.  You can order a Beefeater Martini in the Martini Bar and it will be served in a smaller glass using either the Classic Beverage package or the Captain's Club Elite happy hour of free drinks.  If you order an upgraded brand such as Bombay Sapphire they will charge you a little over $2 for the upgrade (still in a small glass).  If you order a regular Martini Bar large drink, regardless of liquor brand, You will be charged $4.80 with the Classic Package.

  8. I may have missed it in reviewing this thread, but a major difference that I found, is during the seating process for dinner. If you prefer traditional seating with a fixed time for dinner every evening then Princess will accommodate you. If you prefer open or anytime seating where you choose your time and companions each evening, then watch out. As you approach the dining room, do you see a table stacked high with buzzer devices so your host or hostess can direct you to sit and cool your heels for 15 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. You are obviously on Princess and you will never find that on Oceania. Other than the declining quality and selection of the food on Princess, it's a major reason why I've told my TA that I no longer am interested in Princess cruises after 8 cruises with them.

  9. Hi everyone,

My husband is contemplating purchasing the Prestige alcohol package for our upcoming 21 day South America cruise. He normally has a double Scotch or Canadian whiskey before dinner and a glass of wine with dinner. Maybe more wine if the dinner stretches out.How large are the pours from the bartenders? Also with Happy Hour, is a double a real double? He normally pours himself a 3 oz drink and his wine pours are more like 6-8 pz.

He does not drink beer,. It maybe a port after dinner.

    Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks

You'll get every option and opinion under the sun this way. Since the package can be added any time I would wait and see what he spends on the first day or two and if it is close to the Premier Package rate he can add it on for the rest of the cruise.

  10. Based on past experience, I would NEVER book a connecting cabin! If you like it quiet . . .

We just returned from the Infinity last week. We had a connecting cabin which as far as I can tell was just a locked door between cabins and shouldn't have any effect on noise. The one night we noticed noise from our neighbors it came from the other side. Has more to do with who you get as a neighbor than with the connection. Have a great trip - we really liked the Infinity.

  11. I am a newbie! Just booked the May 2017 Sirena cruise around Tahiti. Is the open bar standard on all cruises? This is the first I heard of that. That is a good thing! Also, with the non-alcoholic soft drinks being standard, would that include non-alcoholic cocktails, i.e., pina colada with no liquor?

    Barbara

Yes. The easiest way to think of it is, no alcohol, no cost. Enjoy that extra-thick milkshake!!

  12. some of you must drink a lot at home

I did not find the drinks small pours at all ...anytime

Last year on the Regatta I ordered a martini (my regular drink) at HH. The server brought me a nice martini in what I considered a normal martini glass. When I asked about the two 4 one he indicated that it was a double. When I questioned that he went to the bar and returned with a tiny martini glass (smaller than I had ever seen or been served in any shoreside restaurant or bar). He said that was a single martini. I can't speak for regular mixed drinks like a CC and water or Rum and coke, but at least for martinis, they have a very small pour.

  13. At this time, the best way to fast track your entry is to go online to buy a timed entry. Here's the URL for ticket purchases:

    http://www.sagradafamilia.org/en/tickets/

There are five ticket options: Basic, Guided, Audio Tours, Panoramic Views, and Gaudi's Life and Work.

    .

We were there in 2014 and it was spectacular. The timed-entry tickets worked perfectly. I got them on-line before we left home. When we got to the cathedral the main entry line streched for blocks. We walked around to the Nativity entrance and got in a short line about 15 minutes before our timed entry. When the time came the guard called and we walked right in. Picked up an audio played which guided us through the cathedral and was keyed to numbered points on the map. We were also able to go up one of the towers for a marvelous view of Barcelona and a close-up of the construction going on up top. You can climb the narrow circular stairs up the tower if you have the stamina. We chose to take the elevator up and then we walked down (elevator both ways if you wish). A site (sight?) not to be missed.

  14. What a sad day for Betsy and the Horner family and the Oceania family. I never met Don but I felt that I knew him well and I respected and admired him. Rest in Peace, We'll have to cruise together at a later time.

  15. Sept 8, 2015. Looking into booking the Regatta to cruise Seattle to Seattle to Alaska. Has anyone completed this cruise? What is your input on missing out on going to Denali?

We did this cruise in early June and it was excellent; however, it was our third cruise visit to Alaska so we enjoyed visiting some of the smaller ports along the southwest coast. The up-close visit to Hubbard Glacier was also a highlight. On our previous two visits we did a cruise-tour with an interior land portion and visited Denali, Copper River and Fairbanks. If this is your first visit, I would do a cruise-tour. I think Princess does an excellent job with these but I don't know your personal cruise preferences so I would just say, check several options that are available and take the one that looks best for you. Happy travels - Alaska is a special place.

  16. The confusion here is a very common one:

1.Intra- means “within” or “inside”; inter- means “between.”

2.The prefix intra- is used to form words which mean “within a single group”; the prefix inter- is used for forming words which mean “between two groups., such as Intercontinental.”

My trick for remembering the difference is that Intramural Sports are played indoors (within walls)....only termites engage in Intermural activity ;)

    Stan (or Jim):

Everything was fine until you used Intramural Sports as an example. While intramural does mean within walls, in the case of sports it has a secondary meaning of within a school or institution. Many Intramural sports are played outdoors. How often do you get to correct the Jeopardy twins!! Lol :)

  17. We have booked tickets for Illusionarium on an upcoming Getaway cruise. Show is at 5:30 on a sea day - non-premium tickets. I know it is a dinner show. Is dinner served at 5:30 or is that the start of the performance? What time should we arrive at the theater for decent seating. Thanks for the help. Looking forward to our week on the Getaway.

  18. Thank you all to your posts, both positive and negative!

If anyone wouldn't mind, could you give us more details on how the 2 in 1 works if it's really not 2 in 1?

And thanks again, for all the feedback!! :D

    Lynniepoo:

No details needed on this one. Just ignore it. It's strictly marketing. If it says the brochure price is 8500 per person and the 2 for 1 fare is 4250, just use that as the going rate. NO ONE pays the 8500. If that rate also includes air you can ask Oceania or your TA what the air credit is on your cruise. If , for example it is 1000 and you want to book your own air, then your cruise rate is 3250. Start from there and good luck. Don't hesitate to ask more questions if there are other confusing factors. There are lots of good folks on this board that love to help.

  19. Hi all, I have a question. We have $300 OBC,Like right now I want to book some shore excursions, or upgrade the drink package, can I use that OBC to do so?

    Thanks in advance!!

Vulcan and others are right about the excursions, but there is no need to upgrade your classic drink package in advance. They will be waiting for as you embark your cruise and will upgrade to the premier package for (I believe) $10 per day charged to your account and covered by OBC. Enjoy your cruise.
