  1. Hello all,

This is my first time on DCL forum. I have spent a many a night looking, reading, and just plain day dreaming under RCCL forum. I have learned so much from fellow travelers.

A little about us, wife and two girls 7 and 9. We have been on 13 RCCL ships sailing out ofthe east and west coast ports and one on Carnival. We are just off a wonderful trip two weeksago where we spent two days at Disney World (Magic and Animal Kingdom) and thensailed Oasis of the Seas for 7 days. Allwonderful and we had a great time. Ithink what is attracting me now to DCL is that we have seen most of the showsthat RCCL offers and it would be nice to experience a Disney Cruise with newsights and shows while are girls still believe in magic.

Here is where I need your help, if you are up for a challengethat is 😉.

    Few questions

    1. What is the best for you, to book your trip througha travel agent or Disney Cruise Line website? Personally, I have always found what I want on RCCL’s website and thencalled the RCCL reservation number and booked my trip.

    2. I would like to book travel in early summer of2019 to the Caribbean after school lets out. I live in Virginia and would prefer to travel out of Florida. Are there better ports as far as price isconcerned? I am would have answered thisquestion myself however, Disney’s website is undergoing an upgrade andunavailable until tomorrow.

    3. For those that have sailed both RCCL and DCLwith children, what wowed you the most with DCL?

Thank you for taking the time in looking at this post. I look forward to reading your responses.

  2. I won my gopro on our last cruise on the GOS in the arcade. The game was Winners Cube and won it on my second try. I have always wanted one so it was very satisfying. The down side, is that I have yet to put together a video from my cruise with the videos and pictures taken by the gopro.

  3. If the girls have Diamond status then yes - total of 4 sessions - if you all can share on one device then you have more days... each of the D members get their own code. Just remember - once you go on the session the 24 hour clock is running down. Based on where you are cruising there are many free internet opportunities. Just remember on the ship and in ports where you find the crew - the quality of speed is not going to be what you have at home...

    Thank you,

I am just looking to post a few discussion posts for college and that is about it. I will keep your suggestion in mind, thanks!

  4. I got the same message that they no longer have egg crates. So, I bought one from Amazon for my wife https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LXWTQ3L/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

We are going to keep it in is original packaging and slap a luggage tag on it see what happens. I don't mind the beds but, my is not a fan and so we thought we would try our own egg create. I will let you know how it works out when we return. We are sailing on SOS April 7th.

  5. I am a Diamond along with wife and two girls. So if I am reading what other posters have mentioned correctly, I will get a free 24 hours along with my getting another 24 hours and so on for each girl. In total I will receive 96 hours or 4 days worth of internet, is this correct?

I normally do not use the internet while cruising however, I am tacking online classes through Champlain College and will have to keep up on some school work. I had to choose the week we did as it coincided with the girls spring break and not mine unfortunately if anyone was wondering.

    I appreciate all your input.

  6. We did the mt. liamuiga volcano hike in st. kitts and made a mess of our shoes and clothes. When we got back to our stateroom we crammed all of our clothes from the hike and several other items into the bag. It was busting at the seams literally. We then placed our two muddy pairs of shoes on top of the bag. They washed it all for the same price. I was expecting to pay more for the shoes but didn't have to.

  7. Thank you for all your input.

I figured that CCL would have less family activities and that is fine. On our last trip the girls used the rock wall once, and mini golf a couple of times. The girls never made a headliner show as they were still in Adventure Ocean. They had their best times in Adventure Ocean and wanted to go there as soon as it opened every day. Which to me was fine, we let them do there thing and we did ours.

I was really looking for us to try something new and still use benefits of being a Diamond.

  8. Hey all,

My wife and I are loyal RCCL cruisers with Diamond status. Are girls are 6 and 8 and love the excitement of RCCL has to offer.

My question is for that have traveled on both RCCL and Celebrity with young children. Which line do you prefer more?

I would love to hear from you all.

  9. I have stayed one deck below the pool on two different occasions and the chair moving in the morning hours by the staff woke me up several different times. I personally will not be staying any deck one below the pool on any ship going forward.

That be being said, we stayed on OOS two decks above the Boardwalk area and was concerned of noise, well there was ZERO. I recommend to listen to the other posters and then make your decision.

  10. Better idea, If you want to save money then go by the Park Cafe and get several sandwiches. Pack them in zip lock bags and enjoy on your trip home. Worst case is if the dogs smell your yummy snacks and you have to turn them over. Best case, they don't and snack to your hearts desire.

  11. Just off Serenade yesterday. Indeed, as Bob mentioned...no tea time event. Though sweets and snacks are found all over the ship, and tea bags with hot water next to coffee machine not a problem either.

One nice place is the outside area behind the Windjammer, which had the tea and coffee on the side out there. You can grab a snack in the WJ, then head out to sit and

enjoy the view with your tea! :)

Island Lady, we will be on the SOS April 7. Any chance you could post some pictures?

  12. We stayed at Radisson Resort t the Port two times and had a grand time. They offer shuttle service to and from the ship along with long term parking. The rooms are a little dated and made think of an old Miami Vice episode with all the pink. With that being said, everything was clean and neat. The pool is awesome (just google it) with nightly music both times we were there. The food in the restaurant was pricy and we just ordered pizza and the next morning walked across the street to McD's.

I hope this helps, and enjoy your upcoming vacation.

  13. We are staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport. I chose this hotel because it had good reviews and at 187.00 I thought that was pretty reasonable. It has a pool, nothing fancy but i figure the next day we will be on a cruise ship.

Our girls are 6 and 8 and I think we can find plenty to do in the afternoon maybe the beach which is less than 5 miles from the hotel. There is also a bass pro shop just down the the street and our girls love to play the arcade and look at the fish in the aquarium, may or may not go there but that is a cheap option. The water taxi looks like fun as well.

  14. Hello all,

We have sailed on the OOS and enjoyed Sabor the restaurant and then Sabor bar for delicious hand crafted margaritas. All of which were yummy to say the least. We will be traveling on the SOS April 7th and I noticed that the ship has a Rita"s Cantina.

My question is to those whom have traveled with Sabor and Rita's and can tell me the difference if any.

Here is a copy and paste concerning both from RCCL

    Rita's Cantina

Dive into a fiesta of flavor at Rita's, serving scrumptious Mexican fare along with the widest selection of margaritas at sea. Caters to families by day and grown ups by night, with live guitar music and dancing.

    And here is Sabor

    Sabor Taqueria and Tequila Bar

Sabor - in Spanish, it means flavor. But here, it's that and so much more. A feast - or shall we say fiesta - for the eyes. A vibrant dance across the plate and palate. A long heritage of fresh, simple ingredients, reimagined in full bloom.

Ritas sound like a fun fun place to be for a Mexican dish or yummy drink and then live entertainment after dark.

    Thanks,

    Leo

  15. On the RCCL website it is offering $44+gratuities if you buy now. My question is it still $44 if you buy the package at sea? The reason I ask is because I feel the first and last days are a wash when it comes to buying a drink package + any port days. In the past I have seen where you could buy a 3 or 5 day package once on the ship. This would make the most sense for us as we are both Diamonds and get our three drinks a day. If you think about the first day, by the time we get on the ship and get settled in after the muster drill, its is about time or is time to start getting our three diamonds drinks. Since we always bring sparkling wine to celebrate the sailway, the drink package is a waste on the first day.

    What are your thoughts?
