Me too ~ I'm about an hour from the port.  October 10.  Got a good deal on a cove balcony.

too funny, we are also on the Oct 10 cruise. Our first Carnival cruise was on Magic in a cove balcony

Are you sailing on CC out of Norfolk in October?  We're looking at that cruise too.

Yes, being so close to the port we couldn't pass up the opportunity

Rent a golf cart and explore the small island on your own.  we did that in March and had a blast. There is a free tram from the ship area into the town.  there are hundreds and hundreds of golf carts to rent.  I think it is the third stop that the tram makes.  But just ask the driver.  We drove around and stopped at a few conch stands (joe's and stuart's).  Then made our way to a public beach that was just beautiful.  There are several food and drink vendors at the public beach.  I don't recall if there were bathrooms.

This is great information thank you

I’d like to see ANY RC ship cruise out of Norfolk! I enjoyed cruises on both the Enchantment and the Grandeur from there. Both were great cruises.

I too would love the ability to be able to sail more options so close to home, this is a main reason we switched from PC on Mardi Gras to the Magic again. The eliminating the need for airfare and pre cruise hotel we can splurge a lil on other things. I hope RC or even NCL comes to Norfolk but I will drive from Richmond to Bmore or NY if need be

  5. Although i will not be sailing this ship next month but will be sailing the magic i still found this review to be awesome. We too will be driving with family members from NY, NJ, MD and VA to save on those expensive flights.

Im seriously considering the red frog tour after reading your review and will definitely be trying ther sushi...the photos look great thank you for taking the time to share

  6. the cruise fare before taxes. whatever that fare is.

if the port taxes drop between now and sail date, you will get an on board credit automatically credit to your account. this explains the mystery 5/10 dollar random on board credit people see in their e docs a few days from sail date.

Thank you very much this is very helpful

  7. I just did the "dummy booking" right before finding this thread... our cove balcony on magic for August has gone up Almost $60+ I'll keep looking with crossed fingers but i'm doubtful of seeing any significant drop this close

Just did a mock booking since this date and the rate has now dropped $0.10 below my paid rate... fingers crossed for continued drops
