  1. If a wet person in a bathing suit is the biggest thing you have to complain about, I'd say you had a great cruise. :p

    Dan.

Sent from my SM-P600 using Forums mobile app

I would never have given this a second thought....let alone start a thread about it....LOL....OMG :D

  2. YES!!!!!

Spoke with a calm, and very helpful rep (requested new supervisor because other two won't get back to me).

Susan Stephens took the time to LISTEN to my entire problem, put me on hold.

Came back and said that the nursery does say "On select ships".

I agreed with that but asked her to take a minute and follow the path that I did, so she can see the disconnect. (I've asked this NUMEROUS times with other reps, and all they did was cut me off mid sentence).

She didn't give me any flack, and obliged. Once we did that, I asked her if she could see how a potential customer could be mistaken. She asked me to hold, came back a few minutes later with approval to refund and cancel in full!!!

I told her that she saved my weekend and that she had no idea how relieved I am. She said, "no I do, and I bet your wife will be much happier with you". I will be typing up a GLOWING letter for this lady. As someone who worked in business sales, retail sales and now a business owner.... I KNOW what bad customer service is, and what great customer service is. Key lesson here.... LISTEN to the problem. That's all it took. She said the main reason she didn't want to intervene is because other co-workers were working on it, and she didn't want to upset them by stepping on their toes. Eventually she realized that this was the right thing to do.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP, and I will be posting updates on what we book to replace this sailing soon. :D:D:D

THAT is what good customer service is about...a shining example, as I mentioned.

I'm so glad you worked it out....RCL did the right thing. :)

  3. Why would you have thought so?

I don´t think RCI has much incentive to quickly resolve the Situation. They got the Money, there´s a bit of effort needed to resell an inside cabin this Close to sailing, if they manage at all.

They have so many cruisers every single day, they really don´t care much about losing one about this and even a thread like this is not going to put a dent in their bookings.

I would have thought so because I've always viewed RCL as a good company. Good companies work with their customers. We do it everyday, and we're a top engineering firm. and YES, every client matters to us.

  4. I am sorry I asked the question!!! Hopefully we can all say goodnight and dream about our future cruises & remember how fortunate we are to take them!! As to the bags - they will arrive when they arrive!!

Never be sorry for asking a question...it was a valid one...I'll never understand the meanness of this forum sometimes. But in my experience, your bags will get there pretty much on time, barring any issues. Have a GREAT cruise and enjoy :)

  5. I always prepay, saving 50% example my 10 day Vision cruise parking is $150 at the port at Park-N-GO a savings of $74

    Check In: 2014-09-01 12:00

    Check Out: 2014-09-11 11:30

    Subtotal w/ tax: 74.09

    Online Service Fee: 2

    Parking Total: 76.09

My prepay was $53 and some change for 7-days. We only waited 10 minutes the last time and were in our car in another few minutes. No hassle dragging the luggage and finding the car and fighting traffic out :D

  6. Aside from the cruise experience itself is the ability to interact with new people (cruisers, staff and portside) that you might not otherwise get on a typical vacation, for both the adults and kids, in particular:

    - recommend they ask for an any size or large table in the MDR, so they can talk with other parties.

    - get to know names of waiters, room stewards and any other favorite staff, ask them where they are from, and any questions you may have about what is going on or what they would recommend, but do keep in mind when they may be time-constrained (room service waiters seldom stop and chat!).

    - Encourage your kids to hang out and make friends in the kids club. As a parent, you will likely have to learn to be a bit looser as you let the kids participate in on-board activities without you.

    - Also talk to folks on-shore, ask about the strangest guest request, other good stores to go to, how they got started, etc. You will get some interesting perspectives!

    - Ask and offer to be a picture taker/subject and strike up the where you are from/what have you done conversations with the other party

And I always recommend (in addition to a lot of the things mentioned)

    - Just agree in advance to meet as a group one to a few times a day or to leave notes with updates just to keep in touch if relevant.

    - take a waterproof/shockproof camera if possible, so you can record events without worry.

    - take a looseleaf binder with transparent pocket folders inside you can save cruise compasses and other paper given out to help you remember EVERYTHING on the cruise.

    - plenty of protective stuff (suntan lotion, seasickness, bandaids) even if not all used so you don't worry about not having

    - Try to avoid the internet and the world back home if possible....

    - Get travel insurance.

    - Don't rush the travel and do short connections to get to the cruise.

And to you their cruise expert

    - print them an EDITED version of this thread customized to them,

    - print/edit a few of the shorter reviews from the reviews web page (not forums) that you think would be good to give them perspective

    - Let them know norovirus (practice common sense precautions anyway), hurricanes, and engine failures are rare.

    - and give them your memories of first time cruising!

good stuff...my friend watches way too much CNN .. she is scared of Mexico, Noro, and other such things that the media likes to harp on

  7. I agree with those who have said don't read CC prior to the cruise. Yes, you can get some good advice but you also get quite a bit of advice that is not accurate. Plus, there IS a lot of negativity on these boards. I did not discover CC until 2009, we were D+ by that time. I discovered things I should be upset about that I never realized! :D:rolleyes:

    Sherri:)

I discovered things I should be upset about that I never realized!

that was a good one :D

  8. great to hear some feedback. I just booked this for an upcoming cruise on the Allure..yep a little expensive, but I enjoyed the Behind the Scenes Tour on Carnival, so I have high expectations for this one. Though, I don't remember having to wear long pants...who takes long pants on a Caribbean cruise in the summer :)
