  1. Also, you can borrow a bag of age appropriate toys for your cabin to use throughout the cruise. Just need to be returned on the last night of the cruise. There was a playroom in the kids area you could go to with your child whenever you wanted. This was good to get out of the heat and give her something to do some afternoons.

I'll be happy to answer any questions you have.

  2. We used the nursery on Oasis in Dec 2016 with our then 16 month old daughter. We mostly used it in the evening so we could go to dinner but we liked it so much we signed her up for 2 hours on the last Sea day to get in some solarium time. Our only pool time during he week had been in the splash pool with the baby.

We loved it! The staff were great. Very attentive and kept good notes on what they did during their time in the nursery. There are always at least 2 staff members and they have ratios so the slots are limited.

They will feed your child a meal or snacks. Either you can bring specific food or they have some food delivered from the kitchen (I.e. Fruit, yogurt, mashed potatoes, cereal, milk, juice).

They have 5-6 cribs, bouncy seats and all kinds of baby toys. The staff get down on the floor and play with the child. They also did a handprint project. They ask what time your child goes to sleep and where you want them to sleep (stroller vs crib). We always said crib. She was asleep all nights but one when we went to get her.

They give you a phone so they can reach you if something comes up but we never had any issues.

  3. You can request official birth certificate copies. For our first cruise, I had lost my birth certificate. Got an official replacement within a couple weeks. So you can do that so have have a spare if needed. Now I have a passport. You need the original for that.

For our daughters adoption decree. It wasn't needed because she has the same last name as us and we are listed on the birth certificate. However, our lawyer provided us with 2 official copies when the adoption finalized.

  4. I would also agree that I like the smaller ships better. I enjoyed Allure and Oasis but it didn't have them same feel of the smaller ships. I also don't like having to make reservations for everything.

I did enjoy the nursery and playroom plus the plethora of activities for my daughter that the Oasis class offers.

We are on Freedom next April and hope this is a good balance for our family.

  5. I haven't been on Anthem but We used the nursery on Oasis. I would think they run similar programs. We reserved specific times our first day on the ship. They would only let us pick 4 nighttime slots initially so that there was enough for everybody. However, as the week went on and spaces were still open, we were able to add more time if we wanted. We usually did 2-3 hours. Our daughter was always asleep when we picked her up.

I'm not sure on how many kids they allow per policy but there were never more than 4-5 and usually only 2-3 children in the nursery. The nursery staff had 1 checking in and usually 1-2 playing/taking care of the kids.

    Hope that helps!

  6. Thanks! I've read great things about the Captain Bob Tour.

    A couple concerns:

-There only seems to be an hour between when it is supposed to return and when the ship sets sail. This seems like a very short window for a non-sponsored ship tour.

-What if it rains? Would we be stuck taking a tour in the rain opposed to being able to cancel with a ship tour?

Also, are there any comparable ship tours to Captain Bob's?

    Thanks!

Capt. Bob is located right next to the dock so the hour window was plenty in our case. I'm not sure about the rain but on our tour Capt. Bob was watching weather reports to know where to go. Rain in the caribbean is usually short lived and moves quickly in my experience. Of course there are exceptions to that. You can email him and ask this question.

  7. We just completed our first RCI sailing this Saturday (on the Harmony) and never once received a comment from any staff about giving 10's or anything about filling out survey's. Overall we had a great time. We had one bad experience with our room steward, but I think that may have been more a cultural thing than him really intending to be rude so we tried to overlook it.

I have to ask though, not having sailed RCI before (we've only done 1 Disney cruise before), is it typical for the other cruisers to be so rude and abusive (to other cruisers and the staff)? We were blown away by the behavior of our fellow cruisers and to be direct, it was almost entirely the older people (65+) who were by far the worst. Line cutting, seat saving, seat stealing, rude comments, hitting us with wheelchairs/motorized carts, yelling at each other during and after shows, standing in the middle of hallways and walkways and refusing to move, complaining... constant complaints about everything. We expected the children of the cruise to act like this, but they were far more polite and well behaved than the seniors on the cruise. It was so bad we would seriously think twice before booking another RCI cruise unless we knew for sure the average age would be lower than what we saw on the Harmony.

Is this typical of that age group and Royal Caribbean in general? Or did we just get a bad group of people? We still had a great time on the cruise, but it was a very eye opening experience living with this group for a week.

We just got off Oasis and honestly did not encounter a lot of rudeness. But the times we did encounter it was from the older crowd and it was directed at our 16 mos old daughter. In the windjammer one evening she was crying because she was hungry. While my husband was getting her food, I picked her up to calm her which took all of 2 minutes and she stopped crying. There was an older woman next to me who kept giving me the evil eye and another older couple who got up and moved tables. Another incident was when my husband was picking our daughter up from royal tots. An older couple walking by said "with such nice children's facilities, why do we even need to see them anywhere on the ship?" My husband who is more vocal than I told them if they didn't want to see children then take a 65 and older cruise [emoji15] I would have died of embarrassment if I had been with him.

All that said, we encounter many courteous and friendly people on the cruise. Our overall experience was very positive. We got asked to complete the survey but not told to give 10s specifically. However we never ate dinner in the MDR.

  8. For those who have recently cruised Oasis. Do you have a fitness class schedule or compass that list the classes? I would like to take Yoga classes if available. I don't mind paying a fee.

Also wouldn't mind hearing from those who have taken yoga classes on board. Were they good compared to land based classes?

    Thanks for your help!

  9. Hi there! We leave for our Oasis cruise on 12/11. I was doing my online checkin yesterday and noticed there is a 20% discount on the premium drink package. My husband is considering getting the drink package. My question is for those who have sailed Oasis recently. Will there be this discount when we board or any other discount 1-2 days into the cruise or are we better off buying now?
