  1. Wow, just wow. I would think dry docks would be scheduled well ahead of the time the ship is to be taken out of service. With the cost to reschedule a flight, you basically get nothing in recompense. I'd be ticked off.

They give some money to reimburse for the flight ($150 domestic/200 international), but that won't cover some flights. This is over 6 months out so there may not be too many people who have flights.

If this is scheduled maintenance then they should have scheduled the dry dock before opening booking. It's an inconvenience to customers but it must also cost a lot for the cruise line (especially if they are going to reimburse people).

  2. I'm not sure if there is another thread about this sailing--this is the one I found when doing a search. I got a voice mail from the cruise line saying this cruise was cancelled so I checked online and there wasn't any info on it until I found this thread.

Anyway, they re-sent me the email about it because I hadn't received it. The email said we had until the 12th to re-book, but on the phone they said it was the 19th. I re-booked today just to be sure.

I asked why it was cancelled and they said it was because it will be in dry dock.

The email provided 5 price-protected sailings and a $200 on board credit (for a normal room). I ended up choosing an Eastern sailing instead of the Western. I may like this better because the new one is in Feb and that is better for me.

  3. Patti, or whoever can answer this...

I've read through all of these pages and I understand how it works for the most part. (Thanks to everyone who has posted examples and explained all of it!) But I am a little unsure of one thing: If I have booked a Nextcruise with just my name on it and gave them a $100 deposit, then later decide to use that but want to take a friend or family member, do I need to make an additional $100 deposit at the time of the actual cruise booking? Or does it then revert back to the usual $500 deposit for two? Or is no additional deposit required?

When you book an actual ship and date, you will have to pay the rest of the deposit. The $100 you pay for the next cruise is sort of a "deposit on the deposit". If you book a 7 day cruise, for 2, and you only paid $100 for the next cruise, when you book, you have to pay the remaining deposit for both people so you pay: $250 (your friend) + $150 (you) = $400.

In my case, I paid $100 for one person for a "next cruise", then scheduled a 12 night cruise. Since it was a 12 night, I had to pay $350 when I booked it since the deposit is $450 per person for 12 night cruises.

  4. UH OH I just booked our very first cruise and I'm on deck 6 - cabin 6443 ( balcony) and 2 insides 6451 and 6455!!!

    Should I consider moving?

Which ship are you on? You should always make sure there are rooms above you, below you and on either side. I originally had a cabin on Deck 6 on the Liberty of the Seas, but decided to move to deck 8 when I realized that my cabin was above the pub. Deck 8 was the perfect deck because it was only a few decks above the promenade and only a few decks below the pools/buffet.

Other examples: People have complained about suites on some ships because they are on Deck 10 with the pool deck above, and they hear the noise from there.

Some exceptions to the rule: Rooms under the Royal Suites (at least I think that's the one) have complained about people leaving the piano playing all night.
