  1. I am looking for the Crystal Harmony ship model. Or possibly other items. In worked on her during her last three months as Harmony. All that stuff got wiped out and there wasn't any left for us to buy. I have the Symphony but I would love the Harmony to go with her.

Let me know if you have one to sell.

    Thank you

  2. As a former crew member yes there is nothing like getting an extra tip. But being away from our families during the holidays is very hard. It is nice to know that you are appreciated. Getting a card and a piece of chocolate went a long way, at least for me. There is nothing wrong with showing your appreciation. It is very untrue that the crew doesn't care. Many of them do really care and want to make your vacation as good for you as they can.

I also agree with filling out the hero cards is a wonderful touch as well. Everything is based on ratings. Letting the crew know you submitted a card is a bonus.

I think it is up to everyone to do what they feel works for them in showing appreciation. Extra tip, a small gift, a card, evaluation card and so on.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

  3. Thank you both for information!

I know specific TA's can't be mentioned...I just would like to know what people look for when picking a TA for a river cruise as I am finding the "local" ones are not cutting it.

I will keep searching! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

  4. Hi Cruise Critic family!

My hubby and I are looking into a river cruise. We are an active couple in our 30's but have no problem being the youngest on board (I believe we were close on or last cruise and had a great time!) We have "old souls".

We have sent away for every company's brochures, watched YouTube videos and have done a lot of research on the companies and have narrowed it down to a few that work for what we are looking for.

Our major issue is...how do you pick a good TA? We have never used one, always done it our self. I have spoken to a few that say they "specialize in river cruising" but they don't have anymore information than what is in the brochures. They just read from them. I can do that. Many have been on river cruises but with only one company.

Any information and tips on picking a TA for river cruising would be great. Should I "interview" them? What questions should I ask?

Thanks again you all are always helpful!

    Cheers

  5. Hi Danish Viking we are staying in a hotel near central station. Is there a place near there to buy a bottle of wine to enjoy in our room? Also is there a market or a store to pick up a few snacks are certain ones less expensive than others? Thanks so much!!!

  6. In Naples we had a wonderful tour company. Rome in Limos. Small 8 seat Mercedes van. Wonderful guide. Took us along the coast UP the hills. Had a fantastic lunch which was very reasonable. Then back down. We went to Pompeii where we had the option to explore on our own or hire a national geographic guide, which we did and she was great. Then off to Sorrento for limoncello and free time. We had Carmine as our driver he was awesome. It was much cheaper than the ship tours and only 8 people. You get a discount if you book other yours with them on you trip too.

Have a great time on your trip I know we did!!

  7. We have always ordered this package and it has worked out well for us. I do have them all delivered to the room so that I can chose what I want when I want. It is quite a bit of savings over buying buy the glass for sure. We have also brought on our own bottles when we go out of NYC. But hard yo do that traveling internationally to get to your port.
