  1. We just came back from our Mediterranean cruise last weekend and used Italy tours.eu for Marseilles,  France, and Florence/Pisa. We thoroughly enjoyed both tours. Our tour guides were wonderful, very friendly, outgoing , gave us lots of interesting information, action filled. We would definitely use this tour company again, and recommend them. I have mobility issues and they showed great concern as to how I was doing, very considerate. The cost was very reasonable for what we got. They were very long days, but few saw lots!

  2. Many thanks WestLakeGirl. We are from Canada and I just checked that a $25 SBC costs us $30.60 in Can funds. The resultant exchange rate (1.22) is much better than the prevailing official exchange rate. So definitely worth it. Thx for your guidance.

One more question, if I may: Can you use SBC that you have purchased to pay for the gratuities?

    Thx again.

I called Celebrity this morning about this. If you are using a Canadian Credit Card to pay for the OBC, they will charge $25.00 U.S. and the bank then in turn will charge the going rate, which is closer to 1.36 They do not charge your credit card $30.60 Canadian. If you hear anything different let me know. But this is what they told me.

  3. If that is so, it is definitely a change. Port charges have always been refunded in cases of cancellation. Sometimes they are even refunded when the ship has to skip a port due to weather or mechanical issues. Even though you heard it from a supervisor, I think that is incorrect.

We just got off a cruise a couple of weeks ago, and we were refunded a couple of port charges, as a result of skipping the ports due to the weather.

  4. Thx everyone for your replies. I have organized many M & G's, both before and after the muster drill. This will just be an informal gathering, as there are over 30 people on our roll call, but not very active, and I don't get many responses when I asked when and where they want the M & G to be held. So I guess I'll make the executive decision, based on your replies....

  5. The choices are very personal. Everybody has their own style, likes and dislikes. We always do the late 8:15pm dining, because we are late night people. You really get to know the people your dining with, because you are with them during the entire cruise. So the discussions become more personal, and less superficial. Your waiters get to know you, and bring you things without you having to ask for it, because they remember what you like. There is more of a relationship that is formed than doing ATD. But some like it, and some don't. I'm sure anything you pick, you will have a good time, afterall you are on a cruise!

  6. One almost missed cruise, and I will never fly in the same day of the cruise! My flight was to leave at 9:00 am from Calgary to Los Angeles, where the cruise was to leave at 4:00. Plenty of time, yes, BUT, the plane had mechanical problems, and they had to get another plane in. To make a long story short, we ended up leaving Calgary at 12:00, the shuttle from the airport had long gone, and I had to pay almost $100 for a cab to the port, and made it with 1/2 hr to spare. My daughter and I were fortunate that they still let us board, as there was another couple still running to board as well. And this was in the middle of summer, no winter storms to worry about! Never again!

  7. We received a tote bag on the Freedom 2 years ago, and we were not even gold yet. Everyone on board received one, as we saw many at the beaches. They're just the material ones, and are not waterproof, so they absorb the wet stuff. We always bring our own waterproof totes!

  8. Thank you for taking the time to do your review. It sounds like it was an absolutely wonderful cruise (except that one night at dinner)..so not too shabby!

We did the same cruise on the Ruby and totally enjoyed it.

Again, thank you for your entertaining and informative review! :)

Yes it was absolutely wonderful, and 1 dinner meal our of 7 that was bad, is a good ratio. And as I have said before the food was the best food we have had out of all our cruises, and we have been on more than 15 cruises. The desserts were exceptional, and the Horizon Court Buffet, was definitely the best buffet ever!

  9. Could you tell me if you contacted the casino manager before your slot pull? I am in charge of ours on our upcoming cruise on the Coral Princess and have never done this before - any hints you can give me will be greatly appreciated. So far we have 35 signed up.

    Thanks!

    Cindy

I didn't contact the casino manager before the slot pull. We met at the casino on the first sea day at 2:00 pm, and with 27 people, it took us about 1 1/2 hours, and we each had 8 turns/pulls for $21/person. I had a spread sheet with everyones name on it, and space to record winnings for each pull. You have to be really organized, and keep tabs on the order, so that everyone gets their allotted turns. I had to call out the people as their turns came up, because people don't pay attention to whose up next. Good luck and have fun!

  10. We found the lamb on our Emerald cruise earlier this month was way overcooked a fatty. Waiter said they were now using a different cut..

The obviously are not using a different cut. It was so tough, I couldn't even chew it, and I was afraid to swallow it and get it stuck in my throat. The moral of this story is stay away from the lamb!

  11. The target shooting sounds like something new - were there many people using it? How did it work?

Thank you for your excellent reviews!

I, myself did not use the target shooting, but DH said there were quite a number of people in line using it, especially once they found out about it, they continued to come back for more!
