  1. Fresh observations from a cruiser.

Dining room food is fair, windjammer food excellent.

Dining room service is slow. 30minutes between courses, no drink person or bread person.

Deck patrol and security on on top of chair joggers, drug users, and underage drinking.

Ifyou go to Mahobeach...do not stand against thefence at the airport..someone got hit by a cab after the plane jet blast threw her against the cab.

  2. This is a totally anonymous survey do not feel the need to answer if you do not feel so inclined!

A crew member we became close with on a cruise last weekend commented about how passengers are all rich and have lots of disposable income.

That has not ever been my perception of mainstream cruising but I see how to a crew member from a poor country would see anybody taking a vacation as rich so I wanted to do an unofficial general poll about it.

I ask that nobody comment anything snide, controversial, suggestive, etcetera and let the pool run its course.

I find this poll odd. RICH is people who just throw money around like its water.. and MANY people do that while on vacation, cause they are ON VACATION... maybe they saved for it..How would anyone know that someone is RICH? cause they have a nice bag or dress? i have a Nice bag , but I got it for christmas, i buy lots of souvenirs, so im rich? Yes Im rich, I have a RIch family, rich love, and rich chocolate... SO im rich and a stay at home mom.

  3. Is there any way to control kids' spending on video games, milkshakes, etc., if anything and everything can be charged to their Sea Pass? I am a bit worried about so much freedom? Thanks for any tips.

We give the kids cash money every day for arcade, they can get a soda from us if they want it, and they are not allowed to buy anything else unless we are with them.

  4. We will be sailing Liberty in September. It's our third time on her and we are happy D+ C&A members, so we have seen the solarium pool situation first hand. However, never at 7 am. We, too, enjoy getting up early and getting a nice pool seat (we don't chair hog, or save and leave, we sit, swim, and read - oh and maybe have a mudslide or two). I am just wondering if there was a very large crowd doing this or individuals? And did you see a pool attendant and let them know. We sailed Oasis last month and every morning there was a pool attendant with a clipboard timing the vacant seats. I will say that if by 7 am all the seats were being reserved with no bodies in them I would be more than disappointed!

I never saw this at 7am cause that's when I go up. I always make nice with the attendant...I have my own towel... I go in the pool get out, get back in

  5. Just wondering if anyone has planned, or been on receiving end of any pleasant surprises on a cruise? Always nice to hear people's stories.

    I'll share a couple...

Back in 2010 for my then husband's birthday (me? an ex-husband? I am old enough, but that's very kind! You charmer!) I surprised him with with a cruise on Adventure of The Seas going to Ibiza amongst other places. When he got home from work I had our bags packed, his passport in hand and you should have seen the look on his face!

Cut to this year it's my 30th birthday (OK, I'm not *that* young. Cheers for that...)and I'm going on Explorer of The Seas which happens to leave Barcelona ON my birthday. Boarding on your birthday has got to be much nicer than disembarking on your birthday right? Anyway, my fiancé thinks we've got an Oceanview room but I've booked us into one of the new Deck 12 balconies. Can't tell if he's going to kill me or love me. I'm pretty sure he'll be thrilled - especially when he remembers that I'm the one paying ;)

So what surprises have you planned or been the lucky recipient/victim of?

Champagne at dinner for free, strawberries in our room, anniversary cake

  6. Have not booked a rci excursion for years, but I do remember them meeting somewhere on the ship. I have to ask, what is the sticker for if you already have the excursion tickets?

Never had this happen. We just got off the shop and went to where the signs were being held.

  7. This is discussed here from time to time, with the token "You can ask..." but the inevitable "They are very strict.". Think about it - they really have to draw the line somewhere and be strict with the ages. Would it be prudent to let an 18 year old man in the group with 15 year old girls? Not quite your scenario but I am making a point. They are strict, and for good reason. :)

Having said that, I have read here where the age limit was suspended on a case-by-case basis after an assessment by the group leader(s).

Perhaps they can meet up later elsewhere, or in some cases, they may combine two groups with supervision.

    .

First son was 13 other was 11. 11 year old not allowed in teen room. Had to stay with 9 year olds. He never went back.

  8. I think RCI could make formal night popular again, especially on 7 day itineraries, by going from 2 half hearted (weak) nights to 1 really spectacular night. White glove service. Special captains and officer events all evening. Midnight buffet on formal night. An ice carving show and display. Display some of the grandeur thrown away to save costs the past 10 to 20 years.

The thought being maybe if the cruise line put some Chutzpah back into their efforts more people would get excited for it and participate. I'd look forward to one really nice event versus what currently is really no different than other evenings offerings.

I LOVE formal night. I want 3 of them on my 9 day ( I cant find out if there are 2 or 3)

  9. Maybe I have sanitizer in my pocket, you know the ones from bath and body works, that are ALCOHOL free? Thanks for telling me what to do.

Just off the Indy on sunday:

People, please use the hand sanitizer stations in the windjammer and dining rooms. It's for yours and our protection. Don't just walk past them. These are the same people that poop and don't wash their hands I'll bet.

Unless you are 80, use a wheel chair, or a cane please feel free to walk up or down ONE deck using the stairs instead of stopping a full elevator full of people to be so lazy.

Please ditch your beat up Harley Davidson shirt and hockey jersey and show up in the main dining room looking presentable and show respect for once in your life... slobs.

In the Windjammer, don't stand around the buffett holding conversations with 10 of family members blocking traffic and food accessability. Go sit down and get out of the way.

    Thanks ....

  10. lol naughty room x3 for me...iron...to burn people lol jk

If caught you are summoned down to naughty room to open your luggage and if it is truly smuggled they will keep, and may give back last night. You have to now drag that luggage to your room.

If he throws a fit at them! That may get him thrown off, or at least warning/watch which all is going to put him most likely in a crappy mood which will probably lead to not better times is just a guess! Not a pleasant start to a 1st cruise.
