So are you saying we'll need to have those other five apps installed as well before we go aboard?  I thought they were built into the Medallion Class app but not active until we're on the ship.  Not so?

Never mind.  I've answered my own question by clicking on Ocean Compass to see what it says and it took me to the Play Store to download the app.  I guess we'll need all those other apps before we sail.  So silly!  Why could they not produce just one app that incorporates all of this!

Hello,  all you should need is the medallion class app.  All the other apps ocean now, ocean compass, etc will not work until you are on board the ship.  Hope this helps

  3. I've been following this thread since pretty close to the beginning.  I haven't seen the answer to my question although I could have missed it.  There's a lot of information here!

Early on, I downloaded to my phone the original five apps for Medallion class.  They bogged my phone down so badly and my cruise was still so far away on the calendar that I uninstalled them.  When the single Medallion Class app became available, I downloaded that instead.  Seems like it's complete but I've seen some references in this thread about the Medallion Class app accessing the other five apps.  Do I need those other apps?  Or is everything I need in the Medallion Class app?  I've completed my info and have my medallions on order for our January cruise.  Just wondering if I'll be missing some functions by not having the other apps installed as well.

In my understanding, you do not need to book anything in the Cruise Personalizer. Once you have filled in all the information in the section titled "Guest Check-In", you are finished. See quote in blue from the Guest Check-In page. If you have provided all the Guest Check-In information that is required, and the MedallionClass™️ app still shows "incomplete", you may be having an issue with the app itself.  Good Luck!

Getting ready for your Princess MedallionClass Vacation

Two quick steps for an easy check in:

    1. Required Passenger Check-In

Start by completing all the required information for each passenger listed below. This may include providing your guest information, your emergency contacts, your shipboard account details and other important steps.

Thanks.  All our other info is complete.  Still 3 months to go before our cruise so I'll monitor.  Hopefully all will be resolved before SailAway!

  5. We paid in full yesterday.  We still have one circle that is not green.  It's our Cruise Personalizer.  We have chosen not to pre-book excursions or any other options in the Personalizer.  So our OceanReady Pass says we are "Incomplete".  Does anyone know how to complete our OceanReady Pass without booking anything in the Cruise Personalizer?

A local grocery store owns gas/convenience stores. They sell Princess Cruise Lines gift cards. Buying gift cards lower the price of gas at those gas/convenience stores. We paid our deposit via credit card. Has anyone used Princess gift cards to either pay for the cruise or to pay your final settlement after excursions, drinks, specialty restaurants, etc?

Being retired, getting a fuel discount is a nice perk. But I don't know if there are any pitfalls in using Princess gift cards? Any advice?

We bought gift cards to pay our balance due today for our January cruise.  No problem.  And now we have lots of free gas in our future! 😊  You might want to let your credit card company know you're planning to do that though.  Such a big purchase at a grocery store raised a fraud alert I had to deal with to allow the sale go through.

I believe when Sky launches in Oct; Princess will then see how well the medallion program works with a ship that was built for the medallion and was not retro fitted for it. This will be a telling feature how Princess will proceed with the future of the program.  I for one have been on one medallion cruise this year on Caribbean Princess.  I had no issues with the medallion; no glitches.  With that said; we shall see how Sky Princess does.  Hopefully it works like Princess wanted it to.  Have fun out there

Hope so!  We're on the Sky in January.  Regardless, we'll have fun.  We love cruising and won't be concerned about any little glitches that may come up.  A vacation, like life, is what you make of it!

  8. A question for those who have already been on a Medallion cruise.  How often do you actually have to produce the medallion to use it?  Just to get on and off the ship?  Or is it also necessary to produce it for all of the onboard functions?  I'm trying to decide about the accessories.  Wearing it as jewelry doesn't really appeal to me but if I have to keep pulling it out of my pocket all the time, maybe I'll go that route anyway.

Hmmm.  I'm not sure about that.  I uninstalled the other apps a month or so ago because they were bogging down my phone so badly.  This new app seems to be operational all on it's own.  It just doesn't recognize my booking number yet.  I read somewhere in this gigantic long thread that you can't link up your booking until you are 60 days out.  I was able to add my personal info, look at a couple of the Ocean View programs, etc.  Just none of the onboard stuff yet.

In fact, I see that poster AF-1 just one post before my original post says the following:

"For those who asked about linking your cruise info into Medallion Class App.  The ocean team is working to allow you to link all your cruises into the app.  This would be cruises you have put a deposit on; even if it's a year away.  Right now you only are able to add you current cruises within 75 days"

Sounds like this issue will be fixed as well.

as far as i can tell, the medallion class app is just a wrapper that will call up each app from 1 interface.  you still need to have the other apps installed.

  11. The new Medallion Class app is now available in the Google Play Store.  It replaces the five clumsy apps they put out before.  Nice looking but not useful just yet as we are still four months out.  As I understand it, I can't link up our booking until we are within 60 days.  Is that what others have found?

As I was prepping for my upcoming voyage on the Royal Princess in a couple weeks I was updating all my apps - OceanReady, OceanNow, Ocean Compass - and ran across a new app:

It's by the same Global Experience Innovators that did the other Medallion apps. It looks like they've listened to all of not wanting to download so many apps and have combined them into this one. Here are some screen captures:

It looks like some of the features are active now. Others, like OceanNow and JourneyView will be activated once on the ship like before. It's a 1.0 version right now so it appears to be in the early stages, but it's exciting to see things being moved into one app.

Right now I'm working on a video of all the features, and once on the ship will be posting a video of those features, too. (If you are wanting to play with it, it's a bit hard to find in the app store. I actually had to click on "Global Experience Innovators" and it took me to all the available apps.)

Big news!  I don't see it in the Android store yet but I assume it will be available before too long.  I ended up uninstalling the original five apps last week.  My phone has been super slow since I installed them several months ago.  My cruise isn't until January on the Sky.  I figured I could just reinstall them closer to sailing.  Now it seems like Princess actually listened to everyone's biggest issue of having to use five different apps for different aspects of the Medallion program.  Looking forward to having everything in one place!  Thanks for posting this!  I'll be watching for it.

Just completed a survey from Princess about the Medallion - what I had heard about it, from where, what features I was aware of, etc.  Several times they stressed that the medallion would work just like a proximity fob for a car.  Is that so?  In the comment box, I reported that my car does not automatically unlock as I approach it.  I have to click the unlock icon on the fob or touch a certain spot on the door handle or tailgate. I also asked what positive action would I need to take to lock my cabin door on the ship if the door would unlock when the medallion is in proximity.  I asked what would happen if I walk by my room on the way to somewhere else and I do not intend to enter my room.

Those who have used the medallion - how does this work?  How do you lock the door when you leave and what keeps the door locked should you linger in the corridor to talk to someone or if you walk by your cabin on the way to somewhere else?

I think I read somewhere in all of this long thread that it will unlock your door should you pass by but will lock it again fairly soon afterward.  Can anyone confirm that?

Totally agree with another poster that five apps is way too many to have to deal with.  Come on, Princess, surely you can streamline this process!

  14. We'll be on the Sky in January next year.  Definitely will be heading directly to Guest Services as soon as we board to get our names on the list!  The possibility of getting to go behind the scenes on a new ship is irresistible! 🤞

What? All you need to do is add your personal info including passport info, DOB, address, photo and a few other details into an app that will forever hold it in cyberspace!

What could possibly go wrong?  🤔

    :classic_biggrin: My thoughts exactly!!

  16. We are looking at this exact cruise and may book it while on our Viking river cruise in France in November 2018. We'll talk to the folks at the Future Cruises desk and see what price they come up with. We love Viking and have been on one other Viking ocean cruise and three Viking river cruises so far. Number four coming up in just 95 days! Not that I'm counting or anything!

  17. My guess, having also done their extensions, is that you won't be taken directly to your hotel. Your room probably wouldn't be ready so Viking will have scheduled stops to use the time before they are. Maybe talk to Viking to see if there is an option to transfer directly to your hotel so you can leave your luggage with the desk before setting out on your plans for the day. If they don't offer that option, you could always arrange your own transfer via cab. Either way, I hope you have a wonderful time. We have three months to go before doing the same trip. Can't wait to be there!

  18. On the entry level is a reception area and they have a person that will help next of kin find their grave site. As I remember they take you to a room where several computers are set up and help you look for the information. They will even escort you to the grave site.

That's great! Thanks. I appreciate all the information about this portion of our trip. This visit to the Normandy sites was the main reason for making this journey.
