  1. Regarding the Embassy Suites, The one I was mentioning previously is in the Westshore area. You are describing the downtown property adjacent to Channelside. It is a big new property about 2 blocks from the pier. There is a Trolly Car right in front of the hotel that drops you right next to the pier for about a dollar A taxi would only cost you a few bucks. If you have wheels on your bags its a 5 to 10 minute walk at the most. There are plenty of restaurants in Channelside and you are only moments from Ybor City. Ybor has lots to see, Plenty of places to eat, a comedy club, movies, a Greek Taverna complete with belly dancer. If anyone tells you its not safe, any place you go at 2:00A.M. with all the bars emptying out has a problem. just leave at a normal hour. I live about 25 minutes from the pier. Any questions and I would be glad to help!

I stayed at the Embassy Suites Downtown a couple of weeks ago. Very nice place, about 1 1/2 yrs old, pool on 3rd floor with a great view. The rooms are divided into "living area" w/TV, couch, chair and table w/internet hookup (for cost) a wet bar area w/coffee maker, bathroom, and bedroom with a door to separate it. I got it for $197 a night and it was well worth the price. There are plenty of places to eat Channelside, we went to a sports bar nearby and got burgers/sandwiches. Free breakfast in AM, made to order omelettes, bacon, cereal, fruit, very nice. There's also a Starbucks in the lobby that opens early. I took a taxi to the pier, I wasn't shlepping my bags, and they won't let you on the trolley with all that stuff.

  2. The Legend doesn't have a big screen on the lido deck at this time. I can't answer your question on the mini golf because I haven't sailed her yet. I may be able to answer it in a couple of weeks.

I got back a week ago Sun, no big screen, yes on mini golf, it's a little tough to play up there, it was windy, but a nice little diversion if you have time.

  3. We have this same room on the Legend for June 1-8! Did the ship ever dock at any port, and if so, did the ship back in? (I know some ports can be either tendered or dock, depending on how many ships there are, sea conditions, etc).

Ha! I have that same room 8273 in a couple of weeks, never had an aft, and corner aft at that, can't wait to check it out!

  4. Thought I would try here first. Could anybody tell me if the Legend has rasul available in their spa and maybe the price also. Thanks ahead of time.

Sorry, I don't know what Rasul is, here is a link I found to spa prices. I usually just get the Swedish massage, which is generally not on the menu. Many get freaked out by the "hard sell" at the spa for product. On the questionaire they give you before treatment, just fill out as little as possible and where it asks what you want from your treatment just fill in TO RELAX, NO PRODUCT PITCHES PLEASE, works for me:)

  5. Hello Everyone,

I am a first time cruiser and I have several questions-thanks in advance for your help!

    1) Do the rooms have a safe?

    2) Can you open the fridge to put pop and waters that you bring with you in them?

    3) Are there usually lockers at the beaches on the carnival shore excursions? If not, what do you do with your valuables when you are on the tours?

    4) Anything you wish you would've known your first time?

    5) Has anyone ever taken sandwiches with them on the tours from the ship? Do they package them so you can take them with you? (Trying to save some money!)

    6) Liquor- sneaking on; good idea or bad? Do they throw it away if they find it?

    7) What if I don't want to use my funpass- should I still sign up for it? I think I have to in order to get fully pre-boarded!

8)For the people who flew into Tampa and went straight from the airport to the port, what service did you use? Taxi? Van? Etc. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Thanks again for all of your help!

Hi, since no one took a stab at this I will try to help as I can:

    1) Yes, the rooms have a safe. You need something with a magnetic strip to open and close, don't use your sign/sail card, many people use an old gift card.

    2) You can put whatever you want in your fridge, note it doesn't get icy cold. I just take the stuff in it and stack it alongside the fridge and put my own stuff in, never had a problem doing this.

    3) There may or may not be lockers, I recommend going to the Port of Call section and checking out where you plan to go. They have great recommendations there on things to do/see and beaches to recommend.

    4) The only thing I wish I had the first time was a power strip to plug my electronics into, there are only a couple of plugs. Check these boards, people are great with helpful tips!

    5) I could be wrong, but I wouldn't recommend taking a sandwich, only prepacked foods such as small cereal boxes. Check you port of call, I'm sure there is someone there who could recommend very reasonable and great food to eat.

    6) You are allowed one bottle of wine per person. As far an liquor smuggling, there are alot of threads on this, put it in your checked bags very carefully packed for breakage, most have no problem.

    7) You MUST have a funpass! And you will have to use it to get on and off the ship, into your room, and to buy anything on the ship, for most things they don't take cash.

    8) I think the best way to get to the port from the airport is by taxi. I believe it is a flat $22. fee, check the board section under East Coast departures?? I think and there is alot of helpful tips there.

  6. EVERY stateroom on Carnival Legend is supplied with a mini fridge and big beautiful bathrobes for your use. My DH & I estimate the robes go up to a size men's 4X and are so luxurious we seriously considered buying a couple to take home with us, if only we didn't have nice robes at home already! As for the mini fridge, we had our steward unlock ours so we could store a few items in it but there wasn't much room with all the cans and mini-bottles of drinks already packed inside. Many stewards will not remove these for you and if you remove them yourself you're considered to have bought them (for a high price) plus you'll be charged a restocking fee. So you'll just have to see what your particular steward will do for you.

    Regardless, enjoy your cruise!

I have never found this to be the case on any Carnival ship. I always take everything out of the fridge and just stack it to the side if there's room, or on a shelf, and fill it with water and soda that I have brought. The night before I take my stuff out and put theirs back in. Never ever been charged for anything, but I've never seen a fridge w/lock on it maybe Cat 11/12 don't have them?

  7. I found out my guar bal is V42:( on my upcoming cruise. But it seems that the obstruction will not be that bad from previous posters. Do you get noise from the elevators in this room since it is the first one next to it? It seems like a pretty quiet deck. Also, does this room have a full bathtub w/glass door, or stand-up w/glass or curtain. This thread has been a wealth of knowledge, thanks!
