Spirit Airlines is getting ripped apart by most large news networks in the last few days. Personally I would be definitely looking for alternate travel arrangements for my cruise this coming Saturday. Spirit yesterday canceled over sixty percent of its scheduled flights. Tampa and Orlando’s scheduled flights were basically all cancelled.

    Fully agree +++

  2. We just got back from a  cruise on the Insignia, have been on many Oceania cruises large and small ships. The Insignia was refurbished, very nice but we were disappointed in the afternoon tea. No more large table so you must wait for the cart...only 2 carts, way less food. No more warm scones. The cart took forever to get to us. I don't understand why they had to change anything in Horizons so the table with all the food couldn't be there any more.

  3. On embarkation day I remember the Terrace serving lunch from 11am until 4pm. Same as Waves. No room service.

Not 100% sure but I think Baristas is open on embarkation day. During the cruise I remember Baristas having pastries in the morning, then small sandwiches later on well into the afternoon, as well as cookies. On the Riviera this food was not right where you got coffee but around the corner towards the library. I think the same food was in the Executive Lounge. I remember cookies there after dinner. Not sure what was in the Concierge Lounge.

  4. The bigger issue is in the morning. We had an early excursion in Reykjavik leaving at 6:45. The dining hours were adjusted to earlier but could not guarantee room service would have the food there by 6:30.

Isn't room service available 24 hours a day? What happens if you ask for food at 5am? Do they not serve breakfast food until later? I'd order a sandwich.

  5. It depends on what you like and we may be different from most here...but we prefer the Terrace for dinner. The food is delicious and you have your choice of so many different items...usually everything on the menu at the MDR plus more.

We have our butler serve dinner from the specialty restaurants in our suite a few times on every cruise we take. But we don't want to go to those restaurants and sit there for a long time. We have done it but not any more.

  6. Wren, I hope you are starting to feel better. I am recovering slowly.

Everyone is wondering why only the Riviera is having these serious Norovirus issues but none of the other Oceania ships. I read that Norovirus can get onto a cruise ship with the food that is brought on for the kitchen to prepare. I believe that for some months now the Riviera has been restocking every week or so in Miami while all other Oceania ships are in other parts of the world. Could there be something about the food from Miami that is contributing to the problem? The focus on this board has mainly been on the passengers and staff.

  7. We just got back Sunday late afternoon after being on the Riviera 3/13 cruise. I became deathly ill with stomach virus. I'm still not completely well. This is after bringing a huge supply of hydrogen peroxide wipes and using a lot of them right up until the end of the cruise. I'm just glad I didn't get sick until we got home. Also happy DH did not get sick.

Oceania wanted to bring a group of people into our Oceania suite after we got on the ship on 3/13, last year too. How can they expect the people in the suites to put up with this? Who are these people who get to go into your suite after it's been cleaned and prepared for you? Especially with all the norovirus.

I am going to have a talk with our travel agent since we booked a cruise for next year. Oceania needs to stop this practice of bringing groups of people into your suite.

  8. We are on the Riviera right now, having a wonderful time. Everything is perfect. No sign of any illness. My DH did see the tape on one stateroom door but by the next day it was gone.

I was looking through Currents and saw that we do have a Social Hostess...her name is Barbara.

We are back in our favorite Oceania Suite and have an excellent butler Binoy...someone else here mentioned they also have him on this cruise. We were able to book another cruise for next year in this same suite. Nice to know that we have another Oceania cruise to look forward to!

  9. I am very grateful to be informed of all the problems on the Riviera. In a week we will be flying to Miami for our cruise on this ship.

We have taken 8 Oceania cruises and have enjoyed them so much. Several have been to Asia and five have been in Europe. We now take an Oceania suite so we pay quite a bit.

We think of Oceania as the perfect cruise line... we do want to know if there are issues.

  10. No did not take your card. Held up a portable scanner to just read the bar code. Never touched the cards.

RJB...Are you on a cruise now? I am wondering what it's like now.

If they are taking your ID card with their hands now. And if they are spraying your hands now.

My DH hs 2 different cancers, lung disease, kidney disease. I don't want him exposed to unnecessary chemicals.

We have been on quite a few Oceania cruises, always book an Oceania suite on the Riviera.

We may stay home instead of flying to Miami for this upcoming cruise, not happy with Oceania right now.

  11. I thought I read here that they are spraying your hands with bleach solution each time you come onto the ship. I wonder if they are still doing that.

Also wonder if they actually take your ID card from you with their hand to scan it when you get on/off the ship. I read that at one point they were letting people scan the cards themselves after a passenger complained. Surprised they didn't think of that themselves. Why did one of us have to point out the problem?

  12. We will be on the Riviera March 13, just ordered Clorox Hydrogen Peroxide Wipes, getting the container with 155 wipes.

They are available at numerous websites and you can get a good price using Google shopping.

We plan to bring a supply of zip lock baggies and put some wipes in a baggie several times a day. The baggie will go in my purse.

  13. I don't think most cruise lines have Norovirus. We are going to be on the Riviera soon and are looking forward to our Oceania suite. I hear about Norovirus on lower priced cruise lines, not cruise lines like Oceania. Oceania should do what they need to do so we don't have to face Norovirus.
