I flew into Fort Lauderdale and sailed out of Miami with a small mobility scooter recently. I used SAS from the FLL airport to my hotel in Miami. They also go from the FLL airport to the Miami port. They may pick up at FLL hotels. In August it was $15 a person one way.

The Smartscoot is probably similar to the Travelscoot as far as being back heavy. Have the staff take the scooter down/and up the gangplank. I had a very nasty fall on my Travelscoot trying to ride it exiting the ship.
The Travelscoot only needs to be driven with one hand-Smart scoot may be the same. I strap 2 4 wheel suitcases together (works better if they are the same size), and can go almost anywhere with my luggage.
The worse part of going on a cruise with a scooter is embarkation. The ramp is often pretty steep and you need to get some speed to get up it. But people often just "stop" in front of you. If it is too crowded you may have to "walk" the scooter up.

Whogo,
Thank you so much for a great day by day description of your cruise. I am boarding the Prinsendam as you get off. Your blog has increased my anticipation.
Great job!

Carol,
I had the same problem. Reaching down to get the battery in and out was a chore. I bought an auxiliary battery tray (on Travelscoot web site). The battery can be charged while still in the tray. The only time I take it out is to get on a airplane.
