I also ordered a couple e-gift cards yesterday and got the confirmation email but no gift cards yet. Nothing in my junk folder. I will likely call them if it doesn't show by the time the credit card charge changes from pending.

I called today and was told the e-cards typically show up in e-mail within 10 minutes.  She re-sent the email and I had it before we ended the call.

  2. I'm curious if this is now the case on all ships too. It seems it would make that last day crazy at the cash in booth if everybody who gambled during the cruise had to wait until last day to cash out. I hope it was just an isolated situation and not a new procedure!

We just returned from our Carnival Splendor cruise and I loaded all of my gift cards onto my sign and sail once onboard and then each evening we charged some funds to our card, gambled a while, and then cashed out. I had no problem cashing out throughout the cruise and didn't have to wait until last night so if it is a new procedure it hasn't gone to all ships yet.

  3. Thanks for the post.

    I just ordered $500. Cost: $450 + $2.95 shipping.

I also ordered a $500 today but my shipping was only $.59. I wonder why it would be different. The shipping address has to match the credit card billing address now. I used to have them shipped to my work since signature is required. Nobody is home during the day. Hopefully the delivery will be in the evening!

  4. Thanks everyone for the heads up about the gift cards.Wasn't expecting them to come up for a few more days. You have to sign for both the Verizon cards and the AARP cards. Only difference I found was you have to ship cards to the billing address of the credit card you use for AArp----where Verizon can be different.

Is this new? I have bought several through AARP and have them delivered to my work address, which is not the same as my billing address for credit card. That will make it difficult since nobody is home to sign during the day.

  5. I am the person who posted in another thread. I was charged $20 last year, plus $1 per suitcase plus tip. It was Condado to the pier in downtown, not pier to Condado but that shouldn't matter. Maybe rates went down since last year...? Or maybe we got overcharged...? We just walked up to a cab that was along the road in front of the casino and asked how much so we didn't go through a coordinator like we did at the airport.

  6. We didn't do Airbnb but did do vrbo. We were totally happy with our choice. Below is a post I made about it a while back.

When we cruised out of San Juan we were going to need two hotel rooms so I checked into vrbo instead. We found a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment/condo in Condado on Ashford Ave. Their listing is "Best Location: Between the Marriott Stellaris and the Renaissance La Concha." It was just a little over a block off the beach. We took the bus into San Juan to explore on our full day pre-cruise, and took a cab on our cruise day. It worked well for us and was a bit cheaper than two hotel rooms would have been.

  7. I've loaded gift cards onto our account and downloaded funds onto slot machines and cashed out with no trouble. Before our January cruise I had read that some people were charged but it sounded like they didn't play the slots at all. I downloaded some every night, played a bit, then cashed out until I had pulled the full amount of credit in our account and was never charged a fee.

  9. We booked a driver and are planning to do a glass bottom boat tour so we can see the reef-one member in our group isn't comfortable snorkeling in deep water so this way we can see it. We are going to the iguana farm and the cameo factory.

One thing I wanted to do but it would be too rushed with the other stuff we wanted to do, is the garifuna village and mangrove tunnel tour. Another thing that didn't make the cut was Mayan Eden Eco Park.

I read that some people like to go volunteer at the local orphanage.

I think I was Roatan where locals do cooking lessons but I may be confusing it with one of our other stops. The lady takes you shopping for the ingredients then takes you to her home to do the lesson.

  10. This happened a few weeks ago too. The options to both earn and redeem weren't there. Some people had the regular site, others didn't. I was one who didn't have those options, but the next day when I checked it was back to normal. Hope that's the case again because I don't have the earn/redeem options right now.

  11. Chris, we are doing the Altun Hu and River Wallace, but through Carnival. I wanted a Carnival excursion at this stop so we can be in the first groups on the tender. I just booked it today, and haven't firmed up plans for other stops yet.
