The Port is near the major city hub. My recommendation would be to look at the airport hotels that provide free parking, and then take a taxi to and from the port - Logan Hilton Garden Inn, Logan Courtyard Marriott and Comfort Inn and Suites Logan.

    Thanks so much!!

    Yes, we do travel much!

Boston it's the major hub we fly in and out of for most of our travel. We always stay the night prior to a big trip and have never paid more than $300 a night (and that usually includes free parking for the duration of the trip, as well as free airport shuttles)!

However, there may be specific times when s special event blocks out many hotels.

As someone helpful noted, staying nearer to the airport is the good strategy.

Hilton Garden Inn, Boston Logan Marriott, Comfort Inn are some very nice, modern, clean choices near the airport - with free shuttles to/from Logan.

You will need to taxi or Uber to the port.

We are not sailing until October 2023 but we are starting our research.  We are considering driving from Michigan. Can you recommend the hotels that include free parking during our cruise?  Also, do you know if any provide shuttles to the port?

    Thanks!

  3. We are booked through CAS for the 5 day cruise on 3-1-21 on the Escape sailing out of Port Canaveral.  Our final payment is due to week and we have no idea what to do.  As far as I can tell, no final decisions have been made on Covid-19 requirements for sailing.  We had Covid-19 back in October and have the antibodies but I'm not sure if that matters.  I don't want to pay off the cruise and then have a future cruise credit as are only refund option.  I called CAS a few weeks ago and they were pretty clueless about everything.

Does anyone have any insight or information to help with our decision.

    Thanks everyone!

Something to consider - and of course things may change by then - but over on the RCI board member "not-enough-cruising" posted that the Royal Caribbean Quantum sailing that recently went out of Singapore had this info re positive tests (as in positive in past 180 days = no cruising):

This is from the policy for the Singapore Quantum sailing leaving today

Guests who have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the past 180 days before embarking, or hold a positive serology certificate dated during this timeframe, will not be able to receive a PCR test, and are therefore unable to cruise.”

  5. The Brightline website has a cruise port package from both West Palm Beach and Ft Lauderdale to and from Miami.  The package includes a Lyft ride to and from the port from the train station in Miami. I called their customer service number and a very nice young lady explained that you request your Lyft as usual and they give you a code to pay for the ride.  It is such a good deal.  We are very excited to use it for our December 1st cruise since we will be in WBP for our niece's wedding before our cruise.

  6. I posted a new thread because I was unaware of this one.  I spoke to a Celebrity Rep today who put me on hold to confirm with her supervisor that we could still take the shuttle from FLL to POM if we flew in a day or two earlier.  We have to provide our airline reservation information.  Since I transferred my booking to a TA, I have to have them take care of this.  I was pretty calm about this until I starting reading all of these responses and those on FB.  I think we will book the shuttles but have a back up plan for our own transportation.  Another thing we will be doing is paying for the luggage transfer to the airline.  We did this on our last cruise and it was worth every penny.  They take your bags the night before as usual and you do not see them again until you are at your final airport destination.

I'm sure Celebrity will not do this but it seems like a little compensation is in order for the time, cost and aggravation as a result of this change.

  7. Just thought I would share this as a heads up for those on our sailing. We just received a letter from our travel agent informing us that the Silhouette will be sailing to and from Miami instead of Ft Lauderdale due to a scheduling error.  They are offering transfers to and from the airport in Ft Lauderdale to the port in Miami.   I will be calling to request our transfers.  We are flying in on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) to be with family and the ship sails on Sunday, 12/1.  Hopefully this is not too much of an inconvenience for passengers given that it is the busiest travel weekend of the year.  Must be a logistical nightmare for Celebrity.  Regardless, we can't wait to be on that beautiful ship!!

  8. Hi Norris.

Your trip report inspired me to check on available Sky Suites on Silouette for 2017. We already have an aqua class cabin booked on Eclipse for 2016. There are several available on the port side including 2153 which is the highest one being on the pool deck. Do you happen to know if that cabin includes the porthole as well as the larger balcony? Any pros or cons for that deck and/or cabin?

Too bad I can't get Celebrity to give you commission for my booking.

    Thanks!

  9. We booked this tour on our recent Celebrity cruise. It was so much fun! We got to see the entire island and also had some beach time at the end. I would like to say that I am a plus sized gal and did have a challenge of getting in and out of the back seat but Hans (the owner) was very gracious and helpful. He is a great guy and has a wonderful sense of humor.

If you want to try something different and fun, this is the tour for you.
