  1. I used Roam Right to cover a year worth of travel. I also had $5,000 per person per trip coverage with my cc. I figured out what would be the most expensive trip and combined coverage between Roam Right and cc. Unfortunately had to cancel the second trip and third trip because of a major medical issue. Because of the treatment I am currently receiving every 2 week I couldn't leave the country. Roam Right cover everything with trip cancellation on both trips. (Last trip was cancelled before final payment was made Thank goodness)

  2. When in doubt just go visit your provider store. T Mobile always send me notices when I am about to be charged roaming internationally. T Mobile recommended that I turn off my data and put my phone on AM when I board the international flight and leave it there until I return to the US. I have traveled all over the Far East and Europe and luckily have never been charged roaming fees.

  3. It is not just Buenos Aires but many large cities everywhere. You have to always be aware of your surroundings and not let anyone in your space. We all tend to be to trusting when someone offers to help. Most pick pockets are very good at their craft. Even a well dressed couple can be pickpockets, some of us tend to have a stereotype pickpocket in our brain that a well dress couple doesn't fit.

  4. You will get many different answers to the question. However, I would certainly hate to pay the price of a cruise and then find out I was not able to get off in China. The Chinese government is notorious for changing requirements without advanced warning. So go ahead an bite the bullet and get a visa then you don't have to worry. Also look around there are more reasonable visa services than those offered by the cruise line.

  5. I think the percentage of ships that can't tender in is much higher than 1 in 20. When we were on O we were told by the staff that it is actually about 80% that don't make it in. As for the refund on the deposit since most decision aren't made until the day of the actual tour I would double check about the refundable deposit. We thought we had a refundable deposit and it said so on the tour company's website but when you researched it further it said you had to cancel 24 hours ahead of time. WE lost our deposit but luckily the travel insurance I had covered the cost of nonrefundable deposits on tours that are cancelled. But you do need a letter from O stating that the port was missed because of the weather conditions to file with the insurance company claim,

  6. Heather what a nightmare. I would download any applications I think Imight need, better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them. I think from the us travel.state.gov website you need form DS 64. Do you happen to have a copy of your most recent passport. If so take it with you. Good luck

  7. We arranged our private tour to the Falls with doBraziright. Their private service above and beyond our expectations. We were able to explore the Falls on our own. The driver dropped us off and picked us up at a arranged time. Which was fine with us since we really didn't want or need a guide. The hotels were first rate. They also arrange our stay in Rio and all the transportation that involved. Because of a historic storm we weren't able to go to Christ Redeemer statue as scheduled. The owner sent a private car the next day early without extra charge to take us to see it on the way to the ship. Their prices beat anyone I had been in contact with by far.

You will read a posting someone has regarding this company and carnival on this website but if you continue to research this topic you will find the a logical explanation from the owner of doBrazilright.

You will find this company total professional and will feel safe dealing with them. They are totally reliable, and quick to respond to your emails.

  8. If you live in a cooler climate might want to turn off all the water to the house and drain the pipes then leave one pipe open because there will still be water in the pipe and it wont freeze and burst. (plummer told me that) Also turn off the water to your refrigerator. not just at the refrigerator but at the pipe. Also if you have a humidifier on your furnace turn off the humidifier and the water to it. Last year we went on vacation and luckily had turned off the water to the house and drained the pipes but the did not shut the valve to the water line to refrigerator, ice make broke and the stored water in the refrigerator and line spilled out onto the floor. About 4 gallons. If the water to the entire house hadn't been turned off my house would have flooded. Luckily me neighbor who checks our house happened to find it the day it happened.

  9. We used Travelvisa pro and were extremely happy with their services. They were cheaper than O. Depending on how fast you need the visa it will effect the price. The consular charge is $160 and travelvisa pro charges very. We did ours for about 260 per person but we were able to do it far enough in advance. The visa is done on line and then you send travelvisa all the info plus your passport and they will do all the leg work for you and double check your application. I have filled out a China visa and then the Brazilian visa and I think the Brazilian visa was the more difficult but you should be able to do it by yourself and Travelvisa is always available to answer your question. Also I don't know where you live but some people who lived in California had a major problem getting an appointment for for someone to present their paper work. I sent mine to Chicago and got it back in about 2 weeks. Travelvisa keeps you informed about were you are in the process.

  10. I contacted the front desk of HAL and the credit card company contacted corporate offices in Seattle and they said the port agent probably wouldn't except it since they can't get most port agents to except items that are lost and found and then are shipped from the old port to the new port.

As for RFID protection I did have it in my purse where the card was kept. My credit card company said they were contacted by a merchant in Rome who had my number but the name didn't match. My card had a chip in it and I understand that the chip is suppose to make it harder to be read but somehow they did it. According to my cc company It seems this happens frequently in Europe.

  11. Just returned from a wonderful Med cruise. While in Rome someone was able to use a reader to get by cc number while it was in my purse. The card was NEVER out of my possession. Luckily my cc company shut the card down but we had to go through the hassle of getting emergency money set by the cc company to western union, they could have sent me an emergency card but since I didn't have a physical address because we were on a ship they so they couldn't send a card. I did have a another credit card by it charges a foreign conversion rate plus a huge fee for a cash advance. So just wanted to warn other look into the metal cc cases or perhaps I have hear wrapping your card in foil may work.

  12. I wouldn't think it would be easy and unless you speak Spanish you may be at a disadvantage in Guatemala, since very few people speak English there. Costa Rica there are more English speaking people. The cheapest place to buy coffee in either country is at the grocery store. They both have some of the best coffee I have ever drank. I have never had any trouble bringing coffee back into the U.S. in my suitcase.

  13. I have had airline change our flight times the day before we were scheduled to fly. Got to love it. The only thing you can depend on when you book your flights is the flight times will change. We are using ff miles booked seats last October, flight times have changed 3 times since then.
