Does this mean "Phase 2" is done or is that something for later in 2020?  I guess I'm wondering when they will really put 12,000 on the island.

Perfect Day at CocoCay will get bigger and better with a Phase 2 expansion planned for 2020. After Phase 2, Royal Caribbean’s private island destination will be ready to welcome three ships per day. Given the size of Royal Caribbean’s vessels, that means as many as 12,000 passengers will visit CocoCay daily.

that is totally insane,,,3 ships. sure they can throw out more chairs,, but th elines already have posted to over 2 hours for the water park...I can see the cabanas doubling in price

  2. for the update . decided not to call back to princess , since it seems like the last person was not very informed.  My D-i-L has the email from Princess from July saying her dog was approved to sail.... BUT the forms & such with that email did not say anything about mexico. it had forms that she needed to sign & send back to them right after she got her health certificate (right before trip). She asked them more than once if there was anything else she needed. they never replied she did.

She faxed a bunch of stuff  in september to hawaii department of agriculture quarantine. They emailed back & said everything was fine.

soooo the problem arising was when she talked to Princess last week & they told her she had to have the certificates for mexico in force at time of arrival.

now we do have the paperwork that states "The certificate must be issued within 10 days of export" ( hawaii is 30 days). so we will be taking that paperwork. I think the Princess person was very ill informed to all this.

The one thing we were almost caught on was the mexico certificate, which she never was told at the beginning we needed. We have that form and she sent all to her vet last week, and will be going to the vet for her health certificates tomorrow, and I will verify that all are proper.

thank you all who helped on this. ( also learned we do need a special form for the bahamas,,, I think we just got lucky on past cruises, there was nothing special we needed)

I have taken over 40 cruises with my Mom and her Service dog. So I have been through this. We took the dog all over and were traveling with them in the 90's when this was pretty rare. Unfortunately my Mom died probably 6 or 7 years ago so I have not done this recently. I suggested the poster who posted on Princess's page come over here as I haven't done this recently. She/he had a question about Mexico.

    yea that was me

It appears that in the case of the Bahamas, your regular vet is sufficient. On the permit, it says that in a couple of places that the dog should be presented to a (underlined) LICENSED Veterinarian 48 hours before arrival.  The vet has to put their license number on the 48-hour examination form.

ok question, how do you see a vet within 48 hours of being in the bahamas if you dont go there till end of cruise?

Mexico has special requirements, as does Bahamas and a few other.  You have to have to follow the rules at the USDA site for importing a dog into Mexico.  There are two options, and you can use either.

The most accepted version is the USDA signed APHIS 7001 document, which requires the Vet and the USDA Vet to sign it.

Option B does not need the USDA Vet to sign it.  Just your local accredited vet.

They waive the 10 day rule - it is interpreted as within 10 days of the sailing date of the cruise.

You always have to check the USDA site for the rules for each country you will stop in, and follow all of them.

thank you for the reply, can't figure out why the princess rep said she would be refused to board.  for my info, you mention option B,, how do you do that when the 1st option requires 2 vets to sign? where do you get the USDA vet to sign? ( I know when we went to hawaii, a vet met us at airport, another cruise to caribbean, we were not asked for anything in particular)

  6. need help ASAP. anyone take a service dog on a longer cruise? after all the hoops a family member went thru already & stuff was AOK, now last minute she is told she cant board the ship because she doesn't have health certificate for mexico, ( this is the last day on a 15 day cruise) & is not even getting off at that port. the health certificates are not good for that length of time.

... so is this new person wrong? I need some real experience with this.  I seem to recall when she originally talked to Princess special needs people they told her the certificate has to be issued with in 10 days of boarding.. ( someone jogged my memory by suggesting this), So why do they now say the certificate has to be good for the entire trip? yes, she is going to call again, but I wanted to know if anyone here has had experience with this. thanks

I see....yeah...I'm allergic to strawberries so that would make me mad too 😉

Bright side though....they finally have made these new features available for booking and the price is now out there....so no more waiting and waiting and waiting.

I always say "Book it"...and then watch the prices since they change all the time.  $699 for a beach cabana with access to beach club, $999 for an over the water one on my sailing....I've got 197 days to watch the price go up and down...and call everytime it goes down 😉

can you call & ask for the different pricing? or do you have to cancel online & book at new rate? or can you book 2 of them? I worry that between time i cancel one & then book another they will change price or be sold out.

  9. TY.

looking at my pics I think i have both ports in same folder, ( must have been right after each other).

but interesting to see how costa maya has changed.

how difficult is it to find the taxis? reading some reviews they say its a maze.

  10. ok, so last time we were in Costa Maya was in 2007. not much to do, we just sat on beach right by the dock.

planning on our soon trip I am lost looking at the pictures. it looks nothing like I remember. searching I see a hurricane hit in 2007.

so question. did the dock get rebuilt & moved? because it was previously so long you had to take a bus from the ship to the end of

    the dock.

looking at pictures taken over the last several years in trip reports, I am amazed at the difference.  i cant believe all the trees on the beach(?) they certainly were not that\

covered. I think we will go to Blue Kay, it looks like this is the closest one to the port? possibly where we were before? was the dock near there?

I am totally confused looking back at my pictures of our trip.

  11. on the oasis class we purchased a 5 nite dining package previously, & now again on the Allure. But I don't remember having this much trouble figuring out reservations for the shows. It seems there is no way we can make it to the shows & eat dinner.

we usually eat late, & our main dining is set for 8 pm, and I got the 8:30 for the dining package.

I know our previous ship when we got onboard we just made the reservations for the restaurants we wanted for the week. But this time i am wondering ,, can I change the time of dinner on a couple days? so we can get to a couple of the shows?

I know they are never full up,, they push the individual specialty restaurant & dining pkgs for them for several days on the ship.

so would they even care if we changed our time when we get onboard?

    anyone do that?

  12. i want pics taken on a non-elegent/formal night in a specific dress on a casual night. have you or seen anyone do this? (this is pretty dressy but have something else for the elegant night)

I know I know, who cares what others think,

with all the "I dont wear formal on formal" posts just wondering..

plus do you know if they have photographers set up everynight? ( they would have to right? big money maker)
