Just received call from NCL stating received my credit request and wanted to know if I wanted to book cruise.  I told him I sent form requesting a refund, not the credit. I asked him if he received my request for refund, not credit.  He stated he did not have access to see that information.  He pushed the credit and wanted me book a cruise.  Seems they are confusing people with this type of tactic.  Almost like the bait and switch routine.

We noticed there was a call from NCL yesterday but no message. Wondered about why they would be calling because they always send e mails. We also requested refund.

We JUST booked a cruise for March 29 leaving from NOLA. This is a replacement for a trip to Europe that we had to cancel due to one of us being unable to fly currently.
we have zero intention of canceling. Unless NCL does not sail we are on that ship! I don’t even care if we don’t go to any ports.

We are scheduled to leave N Y on the Star Transatlantic. on April9th If the ship goes as planned we will be on it. Most likely ports will be missed but  we really want to get to Southampton. As a retired nurse I am not concerned with getting sick. But will be travelling with all the supplies and meds we need .   Wipes, etc.

  3. We got back today and had a Rocking good time

    Ellen

Just back last night from the Dawn. Yes, it was disappointing to miss Bermuda but the cruise was great, staff did everything they could to ensure a good time was enjoyed and for the most part my sense was that it was a positive sailing. { Our first cruise on NCL and it will not be our last}:)

Make lemonade if life gives you lemons.:D

  4. Just think, some of you will be on a cruise that can bring fun and an adventure while I'll be here cleaning up. Which would you choose? :D

Hope the storm will prove less than forecast. My prayer is that the Island and all its residents stay safe, if we cannot visit this weekend we will do so one day . Stay safe:)

  5. Whatever the story is, I'm not here to read about it. This person can start their own post if they want to have a gripe fest. I'm here to read baycruiser's excellent report. Carry on, baycruiser!

Totally agree, please do not hijack this review with a "gripefest." Looking forward to reading this review . We are booked on the Brilliance T. A. for May and so looking forward to reading this well written review.:)

  6. I agree, great outcome for the OP but even though it seems RCI did do 'something' behind the scenes it was only luck that had the positive outcome resulting from a 'cancellation' allowing a better grade cabin to become available. Had it not come through, the OP would have been no better of aside from at least knowing Guest Services had been made aware of the issue.

I would still be expecting followup from RCI as to:

    1. How a multi million dollar company can go on a long weekend with no ability to contact a 'reasonable' level of management to have sorted this out quickly and efficiently in the first instance.

    2. Why a refund was not a valid option - which was I believe a more than reasonable request by the OP, one I would've asked for as well as I would never have considered booking an inside cabin by choice.

    3. Apologise for the inefficient and hahazard way this was handled by RCI - likely all due to a rush job for someone to advise the OP prior to leaving for state long weekend.

I work in a global service based company that is much smaller than RCI and all holidays, local, regional and international have to be covered - which includes a level of 'decision makers'.

RCI, The world doesn't stop spinning for anyone, don't you know :D:D

But that's just my rant on my take of things - glad the OP went on their cruise and things worked out in a way that made them happy - thats what counts :p

Well said. I have been following this thread and in my opinion the matter should have been resolved earlier . The stress of dealing with RCL was unacceptable. I am happy that the issue was resolved in a good way for these cruisers and I hope they have a wonderful time.

  7. Nope do not like the " Hull Art" I prefer clean hulls. Keep artwork on walls . :cool:That said I have never sailed on NCL but have noted their ships in the ports we have visited with other cruise lines. We have booked on the Dawn for October so the { in my words }tacky looking art did not offend me enough to eschew the line. Everybody finds art subjective. :) and perhaps I will find when I am on the ship that I can find some merit in Hull art.:D

  8. I have read the thread from the beginning. It is not a set up. We are in a Family cabin. It gets to me that most people think that everyone can afford a cruise. While most people can, there is a small percentage that wind up on one that can't. I am going to be in that percentage. I never said I was removing the gratuity. All I said was its a lot of money when you don't have it.

Enjoy your cruise and tip what you can.:)

  9. We have sailed out of Barcelona three times. Twice we used RCI transport flew in and cruised same day. No hassles at all they took care of everything. Third time we flew in a few days early and took the train from the airport { our hotel was located close by the train station and it was easy for us.} We had a taxi take us to the ship on the day of the cruise and all was fine.

    Have a great cruise.

  10. I just sailed in Mid March and Manda Vincent was the pianist. She is from Ireland. We were there almost every night. She has a great sense of humor and is very personable. Sorry to hear someone earlier in this thread didn't like her. I'd cruise on any ship she's on again. :)

Wish Manda had been on our recent TA on the Indy. Love her voice and humour.:p

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal.

    Was wind a problem? -

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Noise as noted above.

Any other comments? - Noticed the noise on first night of 13 day cruise. Called desk second night, maintenence came promptly and informed us that it could be wind or weather related. We were not convinced that was the case. That said the noise sort of a steady rumble did cease around or just after midnight. The noise was also audible in the bathroom shower area.

We did not change rooms because we liked the location very handy to the promenade coffee shops. The noise may be a problem for some passengers.

  12. Legend Of The Seas is my favourite ship. Been on her three times, I like the Vision class ships and hope they don't make many changes. I see the Grandeur is going to have a complete makeover and the addition of a big screen on the pool deck I so hope they don't put one of those horrors on the Legend.
