  1. The two times we were on Labadee (it’s been awhile-7 or 8 yrs?) we tipped a couple of locals to bring us the lounge chairs on the beach with the cover/shade over it that you put two chairs under. It’s not an umbrella but I don’t know what they are technically called.  Do they still do that?

  2. So we have only sailed Freedom and Oasis Class ships on RC. Husband typically doesn’t want to sail a smaller size ship. However, we are thinking about the 5 day that goes to both Labadee and Perfect Day on Mariner.
Will we feel a difference over the larger ships? My guess is it is nice since it was refurbed in ‘18?
If you’re thinking I am an overthinker you are indeed correct! 😂

Thoughts on this cruise or the ship?
    Thank you!

  3. We are looking at Boardwalk Balcony on Harmony. Do the BB's now have an obstructed view?  We were on Allure several years ago in 12729 and we loved it!  We had the balcony right outside out door most of the time to ourselves.

Are the BB on Harmony the same view, deck on the end, can see the aqua show (if they have one), etc. The only one we can get at the very end is 9329, or we could get 11727 which is one cabin from the end. Does deck # make a difference?

I hope all that made sense!

    Thank you!

im on the keto diet right now. still trying to get use to black coffee without sweeteners in it. still a little rough. i do use monk fruit in a lot of stuff. also use swerve as well.

I will be loosening the diet a little on board..... breakfast will be easy for the diet ( eggs, bacon, ham, avocado ) , lunch as well with salads ( with chicken, steak or shrimp ) ......  dinner i will splurge a little but should be pretty easy to do keto with the mdr serving steak, fish chicken with some green veggies like brocolli or string beans ) . desserts will be the tough part all though their sugar free dessert section was pretty big..... just need to watch for the carb parts

We still bought the bev package, mostly i drink rum or tequila on the rocks which is keto friendly. i also drink mules but doubt the adventure of the seas will have the sugar free ginger beer.......  and will probably have some drinks of the day as well. I will just have to go back fully on it after the cruise........  which is okay as long i still drop a few before may....

also will be bringing the crystal light on the go packs as well

Yes, we are going to do the same.  Breakfast and lunch should be easy to stay away from carbs.  We probably won’t lose any weight, we’re just hoping we don’t gain a lot!  We went off for a few days awhile back and we lived through it!

Back on it after the cruise!

I’m going to check into the vanilla Splenda Zero and experiment with some of the suggestions!

    Thank you!

  5. Thanks everyone!

I tried the Protein shake in my coffee and I found it to be terrible!  And to me, there is a difference between HWC and half n half. It’s not the carb content in HWC vs HnH. That doesn’t concern me. I like the taste and creaminess of HWC.  I could use sweetener packets but I don’t use them in my coffee b/c I want the flavor (like vanilla).

I also don’t want to carry refrigerated items around with me to get coffee.  I was hoping there was a yummy powder alternative that someone knew about. I’ve been searching but so far nothing. At least nothing that tastes good to me anyway.

So, it looks like I’ll be trying HnH with sweetener to get used to it before we go.

And, I won’t be doing full keto on the cruise. I just want to make choices of where I’m going to eat keto and not.  I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for all all the input!

  6. I thought I posted this already but it’s not showing up? Oh well.

Has anyone doing keto and that drinks coffee figured out this out?  Will I be able to request HWC and SF syrup from the baristas (not Starbucks) on the Indy?  Not sure if that’s an option or not?  I can’t do creamer like I used to do and bringing my own HWC is not an option.  We are getting the Refreshment package.

    Thanks so much!

  7. I asked this on the roll call board but will ask here as well. Our cruise leaves tomorrow.

We rec’d an email saying not to show up at Port for check in until 12:30 tomorrow (18th). Is that a formality or can we still get there early?

It seems I remember on our last cruise we received the same email but we still showed up at port at 10:30 AM and we started check in.

    Thoughts? Thank you!

  8. I have a couple more questions (already posted one).

    1. We are first time in JS. What are the perks aside from double points? I've been looking for answers but not real clear on what they are?

    2. And, I am a get to the port early person! We haven't cruised in about 4 yrs. Has anything changed as far as boarding, etc? What time is a good time to get to the port to get on the ship as early as we can to start enjoying it?

I hope this makes sense:) This is a first time girls cruise so we're excited! We love our hubs and we'll miss them, but we hate the cold!

    Thanks!

  9. Hello all!! It's been awhile since I've been on these boards! I've missed this:)

I am thinking of taking my 19yo son on a cruise just the two of us. DH says we need to get away 👍 DS hasn't been on a cruise since he was in HS and in the teen club, which he loved. He is very social and doesn't mind meeting new ppl.

My question is what does a 19 yo do on a cruise when not cruising with a friend? I know he won't, and don't expect, him to hang around me all the time and that's fine. I'm good to plant myself at the pool or seeing a show by myself if he's off doing stuff.

So what will he do? LOL

I don't think they have a "club" for that age group, right? He doesn't drink so not sure what the drinking age is on the ships, or if he can get into the clubs to dance even. I'm so not up to date on this age group and cruising. Apologies for my ignorance. He hasn't been on anything smaller than the Disney Wonder and Freedom of the Seas. We are thinking Enchantment in the next few weeks. Or should we do Independence?

I'm just not sure about the amount of young ppl his age on a smaller ship like Enchantment.

    Hopefully this all makes sense!

    Thank you 😊

  10. We were on Allure in 2014 and had 12729 and we loved it.

DH and I sat on the "secret" balcony at the end overlooking the Aqua Theater a lot. There was only one other couple that went out there but only once or twice. Other than that as far as we knew we were the only ones out there.

We enjoyed watching events from up there and just watching the ocean night or day:)

Many people complained it was a long walk. It didn't matter to us.

I would do it again as long as I could get at least one or two cabins all the way aft.

Also, we did not feel much movement and typically DH likes to be midship. He was fine.

  11. Thanks for your opinion. I value all input. I didn't really have a problem just inquiring. As I said don't use the card much and it is just fir emergencies. We have learned to discipline ourselves and that is why we use cash. You may use little cash and that works for you. What works for you may not work for others and there is nothing wrong with that. My husband and I rather pay with cash because for us it is easier. Dont get me wrong we have had credit card benefits for FREE things but for us if we use the cash then we know there is no more to spend. We are by no means spendaholics lol. It is just the way we were raised. Our past credit card debt was not from spending on things we didnt need. We run our own businesses and years ago when the economy crashed we suffered alot and had to use our credit for basic needs. Thankfully we survived and pulled ourselves from under and are doing fine now with absolutely NO credit card debt at all. I respect everyones point of view and am no way saying anyone is wrong. Just like to do it our way..

I totally get it and we use cash to pay off our onboard acct as well. I don't think you should have to justify  why you do it! That is best for you and that's awesome! Have a great trip ;)

  12. I rarely remember to watch the Port Cam, today I was home and remembered. I also always have my speaker down on my Mac. Well, I had forgotten they were turned up and I heard them talking. I've never heard that before and it was very interesting!

They were trying to locate a girl, they found her and one of them said don't forget to punch her out! What?? LOL! They talked about a family of five in 11717 & 18, they located them, and then they were denying passengers in 3604 and they were requesting their luggage be taken off the ship. They also said there would be about a 30 min delay leaving port.

It makes you think about the "behind the scenes" before boarding. Quite interesting! Okay, maybe that's the nosey in me?? Yep, that's it....

  13. They may not fit closed, but 99% of bags will easily fit when opened up(sorry steamer trunks don't fit:) ). It also becomes extra storage under the bed. We have large hard sided cases and that slid right under.

How did you know I was implying my steamer trunk  ??

No, we bought a 28" Samsonite (hard side) today. I haven't measured the sides yet  but I was hoping to be able to lock up our laptop, camera, etc, in it when we not in the room. If not, we will have a carryon we can lock them up in.

    Thanks for the tip!
