  1. Compass awards can be used to pay taxes etc....they are basically considered cash and can be used for the entire cruise fare taxes and FUEL surcharge. they can't be used to prepay tips...or pay for anything on board.

I know I have done it for everything but the fuel surcharge.

Agreed. We have done this twice with NCL and it covered everything you are billed for prior to sailing. The certificates are redeemable in 500 increments so, for example, if your cruise was $1850.00, you could use $1500.00 in certificates and pay $350.00 in cash.

  2. Went to Cayo Levantado in April 2003 via NCL excursion. Was a very beautiful island. We didn't purchase the meal with our trip and since we were able to catch a boat back to the ship anytime we wanted, we just returned to the ship for lunch. However, I noticed vendors selling food and drinks.

  3. Went to Cayo Levantado April 2006 while on NCL cruise. We booked thru the cruise line. Was very nice and very beautiful. Also was not very crowded. Some local vendors were there and were polite to deal with. We bought coffee from them and they seemed thrilled that we bought from them and offered us deals on other items...but we passed on them.
