  1. I've always taken my mini electric roller pack and my small hair curler with no issues.

You can ask the room steward for a bigger hair dryer and they some times have them

A curing iron or straightener can double as a mini iron for pant creases. Dampen or spray with water to quicken process.

  2. Yes, we were one of those who wrote a letter and called Celebrity to share are sadness that valet service had been discontinued. Through the whole process they were extremely nice and explained that it was out of their control but they were listening to us.

We encouraged others on CC to write and call and folks did. THANK YOU! I agree that writing a thank you to Celebrity (or calling) is what we should do to show our appreciation that it has returned.

Our excitement turned to sadness though when we discovered our April Equinox Jazz cruise return flight back to Maine is 20 minutes AFTER the cut of time. :( Oh well...

Bon Voyage and enjoy valet service everyone! Our voices were heard.

    Best,

    Shirley

  3. This is just fantastic news! Thank you so much for posting this today and I will share with my roll call for April 24 Equinox Jazz Fest Cruise!

We originally wrote a letter to Celebrity letting them know how sad we were that valet service was discontinued (along with many others) so this is great! It's my birthday today and I just told my husband that this was a wonderful gift of news. Thank you!

What we are hoping is that it would still apply to us since we are disembarking in Miami but flying home from FLL. Does any one know? We can call Captain's Club.

    Thanks again!

  4. Hi,

Internet on the ship is very expensive. When you go into ports, you can usually follow the crew to find free or for a small fee wifi. You must also consider if your connection for work related wifi will be secure.

As far as your cell service, check with your provider. I've got Verizon and they have packages for different travel areas. Good luck and enjoy your cruise. Hopefully you will not have too much work to do so you can enjoy!

  5. Hi George,

There is a roll call for all of those going on our April 24th Jazz Festival cruise. I'm going to try to post the link for you:http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=52064939#post52064939

If this doesn't work, you can go to Roll Calls for Celebrity Equinox and look for the date. Unfortunately, I am unable to answer your questions from experience because this will be our first time in NOLA.

What we have learned so far...

The easiest way to get around is to buy a $3 per day Jazzy Pass which allows you unlimited travel on the tram/trolley. We plan to do that because we can hop on right at the cruise terminal and it takes people to Canal St. a short distance and then change to another to Bourbon St. Easy. We do not plan to go to festival but would like to see the sites and the easiest is the Jazzy Pass. Here is a link to some info including pass and map: http://www.norta.com

Hope this helps. PS...we are not planning to be out after dark but enjoy the ship and shows.

    Bon Voyage

  6. After I emailed Celebrity a few days ago about its cancelation of the luggage valet program, a customer service representative called and spoke with me. The representative was very nice, very apologetic and believed it was a business decision to discontinue the service. The representative hoped that the company was looking for a replacement for EBags, which had been providing that service. I was told that customer feedback could impact the decision to resurrect what had been a popular program with many cruisers, since it made disembarkation and post cruise travel much easier and less stressful. I was also told that though Celebrity and other cruise lines monitor social media, direct contact by its customers is much more likely to impact business decisions than anonymous online postings. Telephone calls, letters and emails (like mine) are categorized and reports/findings are relayed up the corporate ladder. So if you’d like the post-cruise luggage valet service to return, contact Celebrity and tell them directly. The contact information is at the bottom of Celebrity’s home page under the header “Customer Support”. Click on “Contact Us” to locate the phone number, mailing address and email contact info. Better yet, here is the link to that page https://secure.celebritycruises.com/contact-us/contact-us-domestic?cS=Footer&ICID=Cel_11Q4_web_hp_ftr_custsupport

  7. Don't worry about wrinkles but I do have some suggestions that truly work. Pack your clothes that you don't care about first..socks, underwear, etc. I pack those things in large ziplock bags and that makes it easy to find and unpack. (also easier for TSA if they search). Pack dress clothes or those things that might wrinkle with dry cleaner bags to cushion. This will help a lot. Also take a spray top from a disposable bottle that will fit on top of a water bottle. (I use one from glass cleaner). Fill the bottle with HOT tap water and hang your clothes up and spritz....wrinkles will fall right out. I usually hang the clothes in on the shower rod. Shower steam will also help. If you have a curling iron for your hair (or hair straightener) these are acceptable and I've used for "ironing" a stubborn wrinkle as well. Good luck and no worries.

  10. Call Captains Club to verify request for a deuce. We never had a problem and enjoy our dining together tremendously. Last time we cruised we were on Equinox and had a deuce right next to the Captain's table. Lovely!

    Happy Cruising

  11. Hi Foo,

I have to say that I prefer a tankini set rather than a one piece at "my age". I am 62 and find it so much easier to run to the rest room with a two piece suit than having to pull down a one piece. Another benefit to having two piece is that you can mix and match with bottoms and tops. There are so many choices I'm sure you will find some that are comfortable and look great for your figure. Land's End is great.

  12. Be cautious about texting. If you are using your PHONE it will be very expensive. You do not want to be charged roaming charges for texting. That is different from using email. Turn OFF phone unless you have checked with your phone company about charges for TEXTING. WIFI is using internet. I am unfamiliar with ap that poster suggested but certainly sounds like something you should investigate further.

    Happy sailing!

  13. We have never had a problem finding and holding a table. Simply get your wrapped silverware and your drink and place it at your table. Often I place my wrapped straw over my class to indicate I have not started my beverage. I don't ever recall my place being disturbed.

I then find it easier to carry something in each hand if needed. For instance, a bowl of soup or salad and a plate with something else.

What saddens me often are the numbers of people who take a lot of food and "taste it" and leave it. So much waste.

  14. If you are both Elite, you will both receive 90 minutes. We went to the computer lounge and had the attendant put 90 for me and 90 for hubby. We had different codes to register. Make sure you log OFF with correct code so you will not use your minutes when done. We had a aft cabin and had no problem checking email messages.

  15. We were in a family veranda twice and always have arts otherwise on X. Twice we've had a question about why our room was not cool enough...of course once was going through Panama Canal and it was like 97 when we hit Cartagena. We called and it was promptly corrected. Absolutely no issue with other afts.

Don't be afraid to inquire. Also, remember not to leave your balcony door open as that causes quite a mess with AC for you and for others not to mention a wind tunnel effect when hall door is opened.

Enjoy your aft. You'll love it!

  16. I have done the exact same thing with sports jacket, tux, dresses, etc. I now pack just a spray nozzle from a Windex type bottle in my suitcase. I use an empty water bottle and cut the tube to fit. Spray with warm water and hang up and your clothes will be wrinkle free. Hanging in a steamy bathroom will hasten the process. No worries!
