Can anyone refresh my memory how to check the status of a move up bid? Thanks.

The easiest way I have found is to click the link in the email confirmation you received after placing your move up bid.  Alternatively, you can also try accessing Move Up from the Manage Reservation link online.  Sometimes the link is there, but other times not.

  2. I submitted move up bids for several different suite categories on an upcoming cruise.  I noticed when viewing my bids about a week ago that the status of one bid is Pending while the others are showing Expired.  The one bid that’s in pending status can’t be edited.  There do not appear to be any suites available in that category, but there are other suite categories available, including some that I submitted bids for.  Unless a last-minute cancellation comes in, it would seem that an upgrade is a longshot at this point, but curious if anyone had a similar experience?

  3. I had the same issue on a new all-included reservation I made online and paid in full upon booking.  The following day I received a notification email that a significant balance was due - almost equal to what I had already paid.  I called in, spoke with an agent who cleared it up, stating that the "system" had removed several of the discount line items.  A couple of days later I received another notification for a balance due.  This time it was for the same amount as the gratuities.  I called in again and was told that had I not called it would have cleared up on its own, but they were able to take care of it then.  Needless to say, I am hanging on to all those confirmations!

  4. I've always thought that Celebrity sends way too many communications and wondered what their opt-out rates must look like.  I'm guessing that most just scan for important or interesting subject lines and then ignore the rest.  Rarely do I open one.  So, out of curiosity, I counted - 68 in June.  Do I win some sort of prize?

We are sailing on the Millennium on June 26th.  I received an email today offering us to bid and "MoveUp".  This is our first ever time cruising in a Sky Suite.  I will add that we booked directly with Celebrity.  It's already a splurge for us.  My husband is retiring and we're celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary.  The lowest bid to move from a Sky Suite to a Celebrity Suite is $600 per person, Royal Suite minimum is $800 pp and the Penthouse Suite is a minimum bid of $1500 pp.  I just can't justify the extra money.  Plus we are cruising alone this time.  We usually go with a group.  If we had more people then perhaps a larger suite would be worth it for entertaining.  We'll stick with the Sky Suite and enjoy the "Suite Perks".

What a nice way to celebrate!  You won't regret your choice!  Thanks for confirming that the program is still active.  We've successfully bid on a couple of upgrades in the past and are hoping for the opportunity on our next cruise!  Enjoy your cruise!

I always check my spam folder prior to deleting it each day, but Hanover Research would have meant nothing to me, so if it happened to be there, it got deleted.

I probably would have done the same if I hadn't seen this post.

  7. Got it, but it was in my spam folder.  The sender was Hanover Research.  It was a well-designed survey looking for feedback on the value of existing perks, including some of the existing offers/discounts, as well as looking at potential new perk configurations and other onboard experiences.  Also several questions surrounding early booking incentives.

  8. While planning for my cruise I found it interesting that I wasn't able to download an Alaska shore excursion brochure for the Summit.  Interestingly excursions aren't available for booking in the Cruise Planner either.  Out of curiosity I changed the ship to the Millennium for the same sailing date and up popped an excursion brochure for Millennium in Alaska!  I tried that for several Alaska sailings and achieved the same result.  Just another data point that appears to support the Summit to Millie theory.

My first Celebrity cruise was on the Summit, so it would have been nice to sail on her again, but not opposed to the Millie. Can't wait to get back either way!

  9. Having done Hawaii to Vancouver several times, I can say it's one of our favorite itineraries.  We do prefer the westbound itinerary as you gain a few hours on the way to Hawaii.  We love the mix of sea days and several days in port.  After being married on Maui several years ago, we like to return to the island for a few days pre or post-cruise.  We've always had smooth seas, but as others have said, sometimes have experienced cool weather as the ship nears Vancouver.  That said, we just cruised Hawaii to Vancouver on the Eclipse last year and were able to use our verandah every day as it was protected from the strong and cold breezes that you might experience on one of the upper decks.   Don't hesitate - you'll have a great time.

  10. I'll be taking a transatlantic cruise on the Celebrity Reflection in April.  I'm aware of the facilities, but curious around what time of day guys typically visit the sauna, especially on sea days.  I enjoy a good sweat in the sauna after my workout or just to relax and get away.  On previous cruises, it always seems as though I'm there by myself.  While alone time is good, I often prefer the company of others.  Is there a peak time?

  11. Yes, I did this excursion a couple of years ago on a Celebrity Cruise. As a previous poster indicated, it does make for a very long day with much of the time being spent driving. There were multiple scenic/waterfall stops along the way as well as a lunch stop and bathroom breaks. Our tour operator used a mini-bus that carried 20 or so passengers. Overall, the ride wasn't very comfortable - especially towards the end when it was a very bumpy ride driving over the unpaved portion of the road. Not sure I would do it again as part of a tour, but would consider driving it on my own.
