  1. The reviews are not good. We have a casino offer with a really good rate on the Sunshine this fall. I have sailed over a hundred days on Carnival, and never felt that I did not get my money's worth and more..........but the reviews on the Sunshine..inside cabins....are not good. . Almost all bad. anyone have first hand knowledge? Thank you for the information.

We had an inside on the Sunshine last December the last one Port side deck 6 did hear a little bit of the Bass from the band in the Ocean Plaza. Other than that it was the same as in inside on any other Carnival ship. We're looking at the Sunshine for December again this year and plan on moving up to deck 7 same location. Hoping that moving up 1 deck with help with the little noise we did hear.

  2. Thank you all for your help. That helps. I personally am fine with sticking to the MDR and not paying extra, but was just trying to get information to help my son and his girlfriend who may decide to have a special "date night" on our cruise in February and had questions about the steakhouse.

If their cruise is on the Magic they also have Cucina del Capitano as a choice I believe the fee there has now gone up to $15 per person but it is a 3 course meal and it's very good -

reservations can only be made once on board the ship and they also have a very nice steak on the menu

  3. We just returned from our first Carnival cruise; we had a great time. We just booked a 3 nighter online , and I need a question answered.

We just booked 1 FTTF for our entire stateroom( through a TA) and when buying it for our next cruise, it looks like each person in the stateroom must purchase it. Help, please.

Only one is needed per stateroom

  4. I sailed on Carnival Conquest on May 4th thru 11th and I was very disappointed by the lack of entertainment. Even in the recent past carnival used to have a show in the main show lounge every night of the cruise. Having the ability to go to the main show go to the comedy club and go to karaoke every night if I wish was one of the things that makes carnival my favorite cruise line. On the carnival sunshine in February I was disappointed by the small showroom and the fact that they had only 4 shows during a seven day cruise. But it got even worse on the conquest. They had only three shows during the seven days! The rest of the time in the main showroom they did lame activities like Hasbro the game show (twice!!!), the not so newlywed game and the passenger talent show. I don't mind the passenger talent show because I think it's kind of entertaining to see my fellow passengers perform and their families really enjoy it but it should be only one night not multiple passenger participation in activities masquerading as entertainment during the week.

Is anyone who has cruised recently aware of any of the Carnival ships that still offer a production show, karaoke, AND comedy club every night?

Come on over to the Gulf Coast Magic, Triumph, Dream and I think the Elation still have full production shows. :)

  5. help my kids will be girls 18 and boy 15

like the idea of a 5 day as we would stay 1 day before and 1 day after in New Orleans and have 2 rooms

but my husband does not like mexico at all did the ruins a few years ago and does not want to go back

if we did the 7 day we could only do 1 day before the cruise and only have one room

and the time that it departs is 12 not sure if we would make on the sunday to airport next flight that is affordable is late at 7pm

    thanks!

Sailed on the Dream last week and I say book the Dream! There are more things for your kids to do and enjoy. And over all I think you will all enjoy it more the shows are great, the ports of call better and the crew is wonderful! Elation is a nice ship we are booked on her in September but if we had kids we'd go with the Dream.

  6. IMHO it's because they took away public spaces and added more cabins the "new" public spaces are smaller than before. This means it can feel very crowded at times. As my husband said "it's a mid-size ship that is trying very hard to be a big ship and failing completely". She is beautiful, Serenity is very nice and JiJi's is excellent. Go have fun a cruise is what you make it not what others say. We are glad we tried the Sunshine but not sure if we'd sail on her again.

  7. I sail in less than two weeks. Does anyone know who will be the CD then? I'm so very excited to be on the Triumph for the first time and this is also my first solo cruise. Anything that is a must do?

Last I heard Jen will be on the Triumph until mid July then she's on vacation until September when she moves to the Dream. She will be missed in Galveston.

  8. We are taking our two granddaughters on the Carnival Dream for a Christmas cruise. The older one-- age 16- had been on a cruise when she was 12, and was so in awe of the tuxedo'd men and women wearing formal gowns. NOW we announced our plans and she was SO excited to get to wear her first formal, only to read that Carnival has discontinued "formal night" for a less dressy night, where men are expected to wear long pants and collared shirts, with jacket and tie as an option.

Just how "dressy" do the women get on this night? Do you think a short "cocktail" dress would be appropriate for a 16 year old young lady? Or should I buy her a long prom-type dress?

Having sailed the last 4 Christmas out of Galveston and NOLA to me people dress up more the first Elegant night than the second. And with it being Christmas people dressed up more than at other times of the year. Many dressed up for Christmas dinner which was not an Elegant night. I would say what you have in mind would be perfect. I used to tell friends that were cruising for the 1st time for Elegant night think Church for Christmas or Easter as those are the two times people tend to dress up more. ;)

  9. Just got off the Triumph last Thursday, April 3rd.

Gumbie was the Cruise Director on our cruise. Just gotta say....I sure missed Jenn. Hoping she is on vacation.

We sailed the first week of March Jen was off the ship and Gumby was CD. I agree with you we sure did miss Jen! :)

  10. I wonder if this could be for those who reached the "Milestone" of 25 cruises and were given a white card every cruise after the 25th UNTIL the new program kicked in giving them back a Platinum card? Many have hit 25 cruise but not made it to Diamond yet. That would make a bit more sense. I also think they should look at the FTTF program and make it $50 for 2 people in a cabin and $25 for each additional person in a cabin. Priority debarkation has become a joke and sure isn't a nice perk anymore for Diamond and Platinum. Maybe that will be included and Diamond & Platinum will debark before FTTF giving back the perk they earned. But until Carnival makes an announcement everything is really just a rumor.

  11. Cucina will be open for lunch when you first board go up and make your reservation and enjoy lunch which is very different from the dinner menu. Having sailed twice on the Magic for Christmas I do know reservations fill up with in the first couple of days so go early and make yours.

  12. She is still what I consider an "old school" ship meaning she's had no upgrades in the past years. She is due for dry dock Fall 2015. That being said IMHO she's a wonderful little ship. Don't miss the Pizza place it's in the back of Lido deck you can get pizza go right outside and sit at a table with a wonderful aft view. Also the NY Deli is towards the back of Lido kind of behind the salad bar in the morning it's the omelette station. There's a wonderful Adult Serenity area on the aft right below Lido deck it usually fills up early I found if I went by around 9 am on sea days I could still find a good seat but by 930 it would fill up. On Lido out by the pool in between the Grill (for burgers, hot dogs, chicken and fries) and Wok is the Rotisserie it has very good chicken! I found the crew to be wonderful and the ship was clean had a great time back in October on her. We have a cruise planned on her this fall before she goes in for dry dock as we wanted one more cruise on a ship that reminds us of when we first cruised Carnival years ago. :)

  13. We sail this weekend on the glory and it's officially sold out.... I booked a gaurenteed room but still don't have a room number... Should I be worried about not having a room?? I called and she said that they can wait til we get to the port to have a room but I would think with a sold out ship we would know

you have a cabin don't stress the longer the wait the better chance of a better cabin. ;) We have done it before and went from a guar ocean view to a suite but didn't find out until we checked in. :)

  14. My husband get's them the most recent offer must be booked by March 28th and includes sailing during the summer which is new. Since last fall he's had 3 different offers all of them showing 6-8 cruise choices and dates. They are the Premier Casino offers from the Carnival Players Club. If you get to go do so they are a lot of fun with special events included.

  15. From what I'm hearing Dream out of NOLA, Magic and Triumph out of Galveston have all had changes. Carnival is trying to put the ships into ports on days when there are less ships in a port. Our Dream Cruise has been reversed. I know it's a pain in the butt but we're ok with it as in Grand Cayman it looks like we're the only ship in. Have never been there with less than 3-6 ships in so I'm looking forward to less crowded beaches and side walks. ;)
