Enjoy reading your post while on the ship as I will be boarding on Saturday.
You can never tell about the weather in the Maritimes but luckily you seem to be able to go with the flow. That's the only way to fully enjoy a vacation.
Looking forward to your take on the Orange Party and the afternoon tea.
Take care, happytotravel

Thank you for sharing and reminding everyone of the great sacrifices of those served and of those who still serve.
God bless them all and you as well, happytotravel

Hi ItsJulesYo,
What ship are you on? happytotravel

Thanks for mentioning getting several bottles of water and soda on embarkation day for the cabin. Happytotravel

HAL has sent me an email stating lots of construction in the area. I would keep that in mind depending on what you have planned.
For myself, I plan on staying on board to Montreal.
Safe travelling. Happytotravel

Thank you, I figured it wasn't really necessary but will print it out with or without bar code before I leave.

Hi,
The first leg of my cruise begins June 01. I have my boarding pass with bar code. The boarding pass for the second leg should be ready today with the bar code. The bar code is still missing. Am I just a day or so too early?
Thanks, happytotravel

Hello Sir PMP,
Love the photo. Those were the days. The fashions were quite different on board then.
Thanks again, happytotravel

Hi,
I just read on Cruise industry news that HAL is introducing their royal dutch tea. See https://cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/2024/05/holland-america-line-introduces-new-royal-dutch-tea/
Looking forward to it.

Thank you, BeBe08
Sailaway for June 01 is also at 7 pm per email I received yesterday. My plans are to arrive in the morning as I'm coming in by bus. Will meet my stepson for breakfast before boarding.
Were you given a specific time for check in?
Thanks again, happytotravel

Hello CGinMTL,
I will be on a b2b beginning on June 01. Can't wait!
I am traveling in from the Townships and wondering what time you were able to check-in and what time you were able to board?
No embarkation lunch in the MDR I presume. Where did you have lunch?
Also BeBe08, thanks for the tip on voltage plugs. I'm traveling solo so one plug will do me fine although a power bar would be useful.
Looking forward to any other tips you both may have.
Enjoy your time onboard, happytotravel

Hi,
I agree with everyone who suggests Old Montreal even if you are flying in late. You would still have time to see some sights and enjoy a restaurant in the morning before getting on the ship. Again, as mentioned, you would be in walking distance or an extremely short taxi drive to the cruise port.

Hello Haljo 1935,
I am hungry now! My cruise begins on June 01 so I'll be enjoying all these wonderful goodies very soon. Thank you for sharing those photos.

Looking forward to all those Dutch goodies. My husband was Dutch and we visited Holland several times together. This will be as close to Holland as I will get again. Can't wait!!!

HI,
I would pack what I enjoy wearing. Sometimes the only time we get to "dress up" is on a cruise.
Have fun!

A few years ago myH DH & I took a very similiar cruise called “The American Adventure”round trip
from Ft Lauderdale to the Med. We loved it!!! We took it twice-once on the Veendam and the other time on the Maasdam. A lot of relaxing days sailing over then busy days with many ports and relaxing days back. Of course, since we live in Florida-NO FLIGHTS!
I am considering booking it in 2025. My DH passed away in January, 2024, so just not sure….
Hi,
My husband pass away 10 years ago and I continue to cruise as a solo and love it. Don't give up on cruising. I think it's the nicest and safest way to travel as a woman solo traveler. If you have a friend or two to travel with that is great but if not go anyway!
All but one of my cruises have been with NCL. This year I am jumping ship onto HAL and looking forward to it. For one thing I don't have to fly this time as the cruise port is close.
I hope I've been able to give you some encouragement.

Hi All,
I would be interested in the book. I love cruise line history especially the early years.
Has anyone read "The Only Way to Cross" by John Maxtone-Graham? Really interesting.
Have a great day, happytotravel

Hi RuthC,
Thank you for you suggestion on using shoe clips. I've been able to find a great selection on a website and will purchase a few before my cruise.
Enjoy the day, happytotravel

Hello Miss G and Others,
NCL also never let on that the MDR was open on embarkation day. Probably other cruise lines do the same.
Have a great day! happytotravel

Hi,
Is "High Tea" still done during a cruise or any other type of "tea"? I will be on the Volendam in June.
Thanks, happytotravel

Hi All,
I did get a reply back today from Customer Service which I've pasted below from the email I sent them the other day.
We will just have to wait and see what happens. If enough folks contact them maybe they will reverse their decision.
