  1. Blue Hole all the way!!!

Skip Dunns River and you will be glad you did.

Blue Hole is amazingly beautiful. We did a tour in June with Libertytoursjamaicadotcom(look it up on TripAdvisor) and they customized a private tour for our party of 20. Prices were great and they treat you like family. We had a great time and it was the highlight of our entire cruise!!!! We swam, jumped off cliffs, and had the sweetest guides that were so patient and helpful with our group of all ages. Afterwards we had an awesome authentic lunch at Scotchies. Bring your water shoes, towel and get ready for a great time! Don't forget to tip them well they deserve every penny! You can also see videos on you tube.

Enjoy your time and have fun!!

    Thanks so much!

  2. Really appreciate the feedback! CCers are always in the know :D While ideally we would do both, I think we will bypass the morning crush at DRF and proceed to the blue hole first and then later in the day when the masses have quieted down - DRF . Our guide is recommending Blue Hole for our family of nature lovers. Our 2 adults kids will have a blast jumping and swinging. I'll be happy to enjoy that beautiful water! Our lakes don't look like that in Wisconsin :p

  3. To Dunn's or not to Dunn's- that is the ? or Blue Hole Instead?

Working on tours for our upcoming cruise stop in Falmouth and need advice!

Last time we were docked near Montego there was road construction, so Dunn's was not a sensible option. I know it's on many people's must do Jamaica's list, but the idea of holding hands walking up a waterfall that takes 60 - 90 minutes with a mass amount of fellow tourists seems to me distracting from the natural beauty of the falls. We are looking at hiring a driver so realistically we could go to both - Dunn's and the Blue Hole. But the admission fee is $20 pp at Dunn's opposed to $10 pp at the Blue Hole. Should we do both or should we just choose 1 and have a more leisurely day.

We will be able to jump, swim and swing at the blue hole which our 2 adult children will love. I've heard that swimming at Dunn's is not permitted.

So please advise either WAY! Thanks!:D

  4. :D

We've rented twice from Tony's in Fira, and once again on last month. It's a five minute walk from the cable car, easy to find, very nice family operation and late model car. Do a search for Tony's on this thread and you'll find many recommendations.

Oh....and the day we were in port there were FIVE other ships. We visited Oia, Akrotiri and Santo winery, returned the car and were in the line for the cable car at 3pm for a 6pm departure. It was a mess. We were told later it was a a 1.5 hour wait in line to board the cable car. We were not willing to wait in the heat, so did the donkey path which between even more poop than usual (7000+ visitors on a little island that day) and the slippery surface it was a challenge. Check to see how many ships in port that day and plan ahead.

We were on the Serenade last Sep and were able to get to Tony's by 8:30. Had an absolutely wonderful day visited Oia, Lighthouse, beach, Santos Winery and Pyrgos (highest village on island). I would recommend getting an International Drivers Permit from AAA (about $15). The rental company said that having it was a good idea. I'm heading back to Santorini this summer for a few days with my daughter and am planning to rent from Tony's again! :p

  5. My daughter and I will be going to Turkey July 15-19 which will be during Ramadan (July 8 - August 7). I'm wondering if this religious observance will affect the protests. If anyone has any info or thoughts I'd really appreciate it. I am planning on registering up with the State Dept STEP program and our hotel is in the historic district which will be out of the way from where the protests are. We are not doing a cruise...just a mother daughter trip to Turkey and Greece, places that I really enjoyed from my cruise last September.

  6. It sounds like you had another incredible trip with your daughter! What a summer you both are having! The memories will last a lifetime!

You have definitely reminded me of some fond memories of St. Thomas and St Maarten. My family always needs to be wet at some point in the day so our excursions will usually involve sand, sun, lots of turquoise blue water (because Wisconsin lakes simply don't measure up) and snorkelling with some type of sea creature (we've done sharks, rays, turtles, of course tropical fish, manatees and last year ...gulp.... whale sharks off Isla Mujeres. Thank god that they were vegetarians because they were huge

The last time we were in St Thomas we discovered Island Girl Sailing with Cap't Mike and had an incredible time. He only takes out 6 at a time and lucky for us there was no one else booked so our family of 4 had the boat to ourselves. He also had power snorkels which were fun to use.

Thanks for entertaining everyone with your wit and keep up the Fabulous Review! :D

  7. We are looking at booking a tour through Romeinlimo and would appreciate your suggestions or imput. It's our first trip to Naples and we definately want to go to Pompeii. But the question is do we do Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano Tour which is a 9 hour tour OR do we opt for the Sorrento, Pompeii and Island Capri Tour which is a 6 hour tour with DIY on Capri and ferry ride back. Pros/Cons, Useful advice I need? Thank you!

  8. Hi we did 4 in a mini suite a week ago on the Dawn and it worked out great. We had 2 adults and 2 teens. There was plenty of storage and with the balcony it gave extra room for people to hang out. There was also a privacy curtain between the couch area and the bed area so people could change on 1 side without bothering the others.

We also have done an inside with 4 - a few years ago and survived....we sure didn't spend a whole lot time in the cabin .

It was a little claustrophobic when all the beds were done up. But hey you're cruising and life is good!
