  1. I have seen so many topics on various lines forums on here and I had posted on another one but there are 13 officially confirmed to exit but the only one that are current and not previously planned are Costa Victoria, Oceana, Costa neoRomantica, Maasdam, Veendam, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and now Carnival Fantasy and Carnival Inspiration. Although Carnival Fascination and Imagination are going to lay-up they will probably eventually be sold as well. That's 9 officially but more like 11 if you include those two. So there are at least two more sales forthcoming. The P&O AU ships were previously planned but now that CMV is shutdown they will probably have to find new buyers. Costa Atlantica and Mediterranea were planned to transfer to Carnival's new China joint venture even though they have still kept their names thus far. Costa neoRiviera was an internal transfer and became AIDAmira last fall. I would lean more towards them selling those two Fantasy class ships and maybe Sun Princess (1995) and Sea Princess (1998) and possibly AIDAcara (1996). With exception of the few Fantasy's and Grand Princess (1998), Pacific Princess (1999) and Volendam (1999) that would more or less put the fleets to 2000 and newer. But I have seen in reports that they could eventually sell 15 to 19 and I'm sure the longer this drags out they will keep ditching these older vessels.

  2. Well the most recent report I have pulled back up so far indicates the 13, of which we only know 9 of the ships right now, unless you include the two that are now going into layup (Imagination and Fascination) which I am sure will probably not return to the fleet anyway and I'm sure will eventually just be sold. So atleast 2 new ones if not 4 more will be announced by October.

There are more reports out there that I will have to dig back up.

  3. Well not to bring bad news, but their numbers kept changing from 9 to 13 and I've heard as many as 15 to 19 ships that they may  get rid of. Several of the ships mentioned above were already scheduled to transfer prior to the shutdown. The only current ones are : Oceana, Costa Victoria, Costa neoRomantica, Fantasy, Inspiration, Maasdam, Veendam, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. I figure that the laid up Imagination and Fascination will end up being sold in the 60-90 days as was previously talked about. I anticipate several more departing by the end of September.

  4. I am curious if anyone knows what the scheduled arrival time is for the ship on Sunday the 15th??? I know the Cunard page says afternoon but I'm trying to get a more accurate estimate. I know sometimes they run into rough weather on the way over too but I feel like in the past some of the arrivals were more like late morning 9-10am?

FINCANTIERI - Britannia presented in Monfalcone

The largest cruise ship ever built by the Italian Group for the historic British brand

    P&O Cruises

Trieste, 22 February 2015 - “Britannia”, the new flagship of the P&O Cruises fleet, brand of Carnival Group, the world's largest cruise ship operator, was presented today at Monfalcone shipyard.

The delivery of “Britannia” further enhances and strengthens the partnership between Fincantieri and P&O Cruises, a prestigious brand characterized by a particularly high target of customers, tailored to the British market, one of the most dynamic and elegant ones in the world.

The ceremony was attended by Enrico Morando, Italian Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Micky Arison, Chairman of Carnival Corporation, David Dingle, Executive Chairman of Carnival UK and David Noyes, CEO of P&O Cruises, while Fincantieri was represented by Giuseppe Bono and Vincenzo Petrone, respectively CEO and Chairman.

“Britannia” will be the first P&O cruise ship with a new livery with blue funnels and a stylized 97 meters long Union Jack draped over the bow. It will also be the first cruise ship built in Monfalcone with two funnels. The last liner which has been delivered by Monfalcone shipyard with this feature was the Eugenio C in the far 1966.

With the construction of "Britannia", Fincantieri consolidates its leadership in building the largest passenger ships in the Italian shipbuilding history. At 144,000 gross tons, 330 meters long and 38 meters wide, the new unit will be the largest one ever built by Fincantieri and the largest one made for this historic cruise operator founded in 1837. It has 1,837 cabins, of which 75% have a balcony, and it is able to accommodate 4,324 passengers on board, with total capacity of over 5,700 people, including the crew.

An innovative ship for a new grounbreaking class which looks at the future, “Britannia” stands out for its new "future-proof design", not only in terms of layout and state-of-the-art performance, but also because it complies with the most recent regulations for big passenger units, among which the “Safe return to port" security system.

These ships will represent a new technological benchmark, in Europe and worldwide, for extremely high performance and for the high quality of the technical solutions. They are the best proof that innovation and customer care, like the one established with the Carnival Group, market leader, are essential levers for tackling a crisis like the present one.

Fincantieri has built 68 cruise ships since 1990 and other 16 ships are currently being designed or built in the Group's yards.
