Thank you! I appreciate the kindness and helpfulness of the HAL board. We are looking forward to some cooler temperatures!

Carol, I admire your spunk! As a fellow cancer survivor, I totally agree with your philosophy! Thank you for doing the clinical trial. Your courage will benefit all of us. Have a fabulous cruise followed by many more!

If both parties have insurance and one cancels for a reimbursable reason, the remaining party that is charged the single supplement could have that refunded by the insurance company.
This has happened to me. I cancelled because of my husband's illness. My traveling companion went in the cabin as a single. I received a refund for my portion. My traveling received reimbursement for the single supplement.

The Misty Fjords flight seeing is still listed on the excursion list of our July 19 Oosterdam cruise. New vendors?
-
No media outlet is reporting this. All that is known is the plane was found against a granite rock 800 feet above Ella Lake. No word yet on survivors.

News media is now reporting that NTSB says multiple fatalities.

We are cruising Alaska this August, with a two day extension to Denali. The "brochure" for this cruise indicates on day two of the Denali visit, a Tundra Wilderness Tour (lunch included). However, the cruise itinerary that includes shore excursions, does not refer to this, nor can I find any info about it. Has anyone experience with this tour? What time of day and length of tour? Information would be helpful, as there are activities we want to participate in, but don't want to miss any included activities. Thanks for any help.
We are doing a double Denali tour in July. Go to the page where you can book excursions on the day you are taking the Wilderness Tour. If you are scheduled for the morning tour, no excursions will be available for you to book in the morning. If you are on the afternoon tour, nothing will be available in the afternoon and early evening. When we got our express docs, we were listed on the afternoon tour that departs between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. I'm glad we are on the afternoon trip. The morning trip departs between 5 and 9 a.m.!
The tour is run by the National Park Service. You can find more info about it at their website http://www.reservedenali.com/play/tours/tundra-wilderness.aspx

Check your express docs, there is a section called cruisetour journey tips that explains it all.

There is a shuttle from the downtown Sheraton back to the airport to meet the HAL bus. This is part of our pre-cruise package. I will be on that shuttle July 19.
-
Call HAL. I had a question about the shuttle since the sailing of the Oosterdam has been moved up to 4 pm on July 19. Our docs say last shuttle at 10:30 am. HAL confirmed that is the only shuttle. She said even if there are 2 buses, they will both leave at 10:30 am.
-
No change for ground transportation to Vancouver. The bus leaves SEA-TAC at 10:30 am and arrives at the pier about 2 pm.
-
We are doing a pre-cruise package in Seattle, arriving on the 17th. We are taking the HAL shuttle from the airport to Vancouver. I'm going to call to see if the shuttle times are changed.
-
Northbound on July 19 also departs at 4 pm. We got an email from HAL this week.

There are a lot of changes going on at Channelside. The last time I was down there when the Paradise was it port, it surprised me to see it parked at the terminal that NCL uses when they sail from Tampa.
-
It is called Destination Tampa Bay. The phone number is 813-514-0770.
-
I will let you know after our July cruise. Of the many lines I have sailed, Disney is at the top for service. NCL at the bottom.
-
This happens every time I'm logged into the Carnival site.
-
Thank you so much for your review. It has heightened the anticipation for our journey in July!
-
Why not? It adds to the excitement! If something changes you can always go back and change it. Express docs are ready to print 50 days before sailing. My docs for our July cruise should be ready on Monday.
-
Is it anything like Carnival's Bitter and Blanc?

We are taking the Double Denali starting June 28 from Vancouver. I printed the documents yesterday with the most detailed itinerary I have seen to date. And I saw no mention of any sort of meal plan. Where is the info about this? I wonder about it, though my inclination is to do meals on our own.
I read about the plan on the web. I called HAL for the information.
-
We, too, have decided not to get the meal plan. I have looked at the menus of some restaurants (I have a list of several for each stop) and, while more expensive than at home, we could find several things we would like to try, many with a local touch. I will try to keep track of the costs and report back at the beginning of June on how we fared.
That would be wonderful! Thank you!

Eagerly awaiting more! We'll be on her July 19!

I read that thread and anything else I could find on the web. Not a lot of current info out there.

We are doing a Double Denali Cruisetour (R6C) in July. I've been to Alaska before, so I know that the food can be pricey. The food package is $199 pp for 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts in Denali, lunch on the train, plus dinner in Anchorage. I am told gratuities are included. Can I hear from passengers who have bought the meal plan. Is it a good deal? How is the food quality?
