  1. I had a cove balcony on the Horizon for the TA cruise and I loved it.

They don't have a lot of sunshine, so if you want to sit out and get sun rays, this isn't for you.

Also don't book a cove balcony under the galley, a bit noisy with the pots and pans at all hours.

They are very private, and close to the sea, so very relaxing to sit and watch the sea go by.

In rough waters the balcony door can be locked down by the cruise line and you will be safe.

The lifeboats can block the sun, so look for a cabin that is between the lifeboats. Enjoy

  2. Apparently Princess deposits are now non-refundable. This came as a rude surprise to my wife and I when we recently tried to reschedule a Panama Canal cruise in order to accommodate some friends we wanted to cruise with. We have been cruising with Princess for many years, and always felt comfortable making deposits on cruises we were interested in because they were fully refundable. Usually we took the cruise but occasionally events made us change plans. In the past that was no problem. Apparently that has changed, and I really wish Princess had made the change clearer. I have no problem with non-refundable deposits so long as the rules are clear, especially when you change the rules. We are out $700 because the cruise consultant (we deal directly with Princess) said nothing about it, and I failed to read the small print on the emailed receipt until it was too late.

Check with Princess and see if you can't move the deposit to another cruise as long as it is under the same " non refundable deposit promotion" ie non refundable deposit to a non refundable deposit. Ask nicely! They won't refund it but might move it to a new booking.

  3. I have the 8:15 dining time in the MDR and I have seen on some Alaska ships the time is moved forward to 7:30PM

    has anyone experienced this?

    also

On embarkation day are the dining times altered at all , due to the safety drill or late embarkation? I saw on some ships the safety drill was at 7:30pm before the ship sets sail in Whittier. Is seating just open for everyone in the MDR?

    Thanks,

    Jan

  4. we used them to go to Galveston on May 8 and to return on May 15th.

They were at the airport 15 minutes early waiting for us and we departed early to the ship as our van was full.. On the way we stopped at a hotel near Bush and our driver Logan picked up a garment bag that some one left at a hotel and met the lady at the port and gave it to her. That's service!

After the cruise we met our driver outside the port and got to IAH in plenty of time.

They are very professional, and extremely efficient. I would recommend them to anyone.

  5. There has been a lot of construction on 595 over the past few years. Unless you have an updated GPS you can easily get misdirected. In addition, the south runway airport extension has also had an impact on US1 and 595.

Can you take 595 to Eller and go into terminal 18 that way?

    Where are toll roads?

I will be coming from Best Western on Stirling and dropping off part of our group then returning the car to the airport. What is my best way?

    Thanks

  6. Don't think that's correct. We lived there for 8 years. Even if they. Ant drop you at the actual door, they can drop you literally across the street.

Taxis are also easy to get. You will probably need to call one, but they're fast.

Is the Days inn You're using on Seawall?

Yes, either that or the Hilton not sure yet.

I was also looking at renting a car at IAH for the 10 days, less that the shuttle round trip, but hows the parking?

  7. Thank you for all your responses,

What taxi service did you call Barsnikel?

Guess I will just request two taxis and go from there.

Anyone used Super Shuttle for the airport to Galveston? , our flights

don't match up with Galveston Express's times.

We are going in two days prior and have a 5pm flight home, so time isn't a issue.

  8. I'm assuming you are at the Days Inn in Galveston West/ Seawall? From any Days Inn you can grab an Uber. from the Days Inn seawall its 8-10$.

    Its Easy Peasy.

Download the app on Android or iphone and setup an account with a credit card and request a driver.

They usually have large ubers for 6 people.

You could try Lyft as well. Same thing. App to order a driver.

    Sean,

Are there a lot of Uber drivers in Galveston? I thought they couldn't get into the port area

    without being fined.

  9. Taxi Services

    Tropical Taxi

    409-621-4000

    Yellow Cab Company

    409-763-3333

Try finding a hotel with transfers .

    What is days inn providing.

Days Inn offers $50 per room Round trip to the port , but doesn't discount one ways

and we have 3 rooms. I think I can get a taxi for less than $150

  10. On the morning of our cruise, I want to get a taxi from the Day's inn to Terminal 2.

How easy is it to get a taxi? Do I need to prearrange it? What should it cost?

There are 6 of us , so it is either a van or two taxis, is there a company that has vans?

Thank you in advance, there must be someone who lives there...
