  1. CC members have never disappointed me. As always you all have the answers and love to share with the rest of us.

Thank you all so much, you've will have helped make me and the grandkids very happy as we watch "the anniversary couple" sail from Seattle.

4 days later (Aug 24th) my husband of 37 years an I sail from Boston on the Rotterdam. This will be our 4th trip aboard her, but the first since her latest remodel, and we'll be just 12 days shy of our long-awaited 200 days on HAL.

    Thank-you again wonderful cruisers!

I haven't been active on the HAL board for several years. I posted from 2003-2011 under "grannynurse"

There used to be a website to find port sea cameras to watch ships sailing from different American ports. Does anyone know if this web site still exists.

My daughter and her husband are sailing from Seattle in August to celebrate 25 years of marriage and I'd like to have my grandchildren watch the sailing with me.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance, this means a lot to us.

  3.

I've been thinking about you a lot lately, It's primarily the reason I came back to CC.

I'm getting frustrated trying to learn to navigate as this new format seems so strange to me.

Our last cruise was to Alaska in2011 with our son Brad shortly after his wife died. Thankfully he got off the Amsterdam a much-changed Brad.

We're leaving for another NE/Canada cruise, the 2nd on Rotterdam, but the

4th time on board her. I still think about our night in Ireland together singing.... do you remember? It was the 2003 18 day transatlantic from Boston, wasn't it? We went again in 2004 on a 35 day, which one were we on together?

This coming cruise is a 17 day to and from Boston, I wish it went further south, we'd try to see you again.

I lost your telephone number and haven't stopped kicking myself.

Hope you see this and answer.

BTW I requested to befriend you, what do I do next?

    Miss talking to you,

    GN Myra

  4. Never had more than 2 sea days in a row and now we've booked a transatlantic crossing. So, what are some ideas to pass the time on all those sea days?

Please tell us which transatlantic cruise that you have booked.

We are booked on our 4th TA next April on Eurodam (18 days) which has 6 at-sea days up front and others spaced nicely between ports. We really enjoy our days at sea but have never had 6 in a row. From previous experience, we have found that these days do NOT drag for us, AMOF, we run out of free time. There is so much ship to explore and frequently, even on longer cruises, we do not see it all. We especially like the team trivia, the wine tastings, DH's Bingo at times, and really just not having a schedule. HAL does not push activities on people, has very few PA announcements, (except the "From the Bridge" update on sea days around 1pm, which we liik forward to).

We would never book an itinerary that had fewer than 3 sea days.

  5. The "taste of Iceland" with the lobster lunch was reported to be boring. Our friends said that they visited 2 seaside villages which were nice but dull, and the lobster was tiny icelandic lobster not the Maine variety and they ran out before everyone was served. The beer was extremely exspensive too. For the price they paid, $189 pp, they were not thrilled.

We were on the Golden Circle which was very interesting. The Gudafoss waterfall is spectacular. The tour narration was very good, but the lunch, well, if you like boiled salmon and boiled potatos, which BTW, was repeated on tours in Oban Scotland and in Ireland...I started referring to it as the salmon conspiracy, and ordinarily I love Salmon. The Icelandic char that HAL had on board for the lunchtime grill was excellent; it was either on a sea day before or after Reykjavik.

Many people took the Blue lagoon swim, most loved this tour but were not told to and did not bring shampoo: the minerals in the water clung to hair like cement. Heads Up, the showers and changing rooms are CO-ED. The public johns we visited were spotless but also CO-ED.

We've been to Iceland 3 times on HAL cruises, it's lovely but very, very expensive. Lunch for 2, sandwhich, burger, 1 coffee and 1 beer were $50 US dollars. We ate in town because the weather was lousy and our whale watching trip was canceled. I know I sound critical, but it's just me being crabby, we both really like Iceland.

I have pix on webshots, if anyone is interested I'll post a link.

  6. Walt,

Thank you for your usual good job and sensitivity to peoples' feelings.

I've noticed some "unkind" remarks about posters, in fact, identifying them by name, in some posts. Most recently on the roll call board. Are these the kind of posts that you refer to as summoning alerts?

I know the boards are monitored for rule breaking and improper conduct, but are derogatory comments important enough to address? If I had been the recipient of what I saw, my feelings would have been hurt, but it did not contain nasty language, just derision.
