  1. There is no kids menu as it is more of an adult, upscale restaurant although kids are welcome and the $35 is more for the ambiance, service and general atmosphere. Many people have said they have ordered chicken fingers and got them but all that proves is that Carnival will bend over backwards to keep people happy and will remove waiters to run to Lido to do this which is unfair to the staff and patrons. I have been many times and have seen all kinds of behaviours and in MY opinion, it is not a place for a young child no matter are good they are - 2-2 1/2 hours is long for anyone let alone a child.

  2. 18 is Cozumel also.

if you can see over the bar and you have the money they don't care how old you are in most ports - although the age is 18. Like others say - you can always order him a drink on your card but he won't be able to on his own card as it will be coded. Also, like another poster said, the drinks in most ports are pretty potent so be careful - I have been snookered a few times and I am old enough to know better.

  3. With a ship of 3000 plus have you ever looked at some of the feet of people walking barefoot - you would gag. I wouldn't want my feet walking where they do - I take my shoes (flip flops etc) off when I get a lounger and put them on when I get up to go somewhere. What about going into the washrooms - I would not want to be barefoot in there for the love of money.

  4. I actually buy little on the ship - chain by the inch it plated, $10 watches are $10 watches (had one last years and one last 2 weeks so hit or miss), jewellery can be quite nice, buy only ONE picture (don't need anymore - no room for them). At ports however, I always buy coffee beans, Christmas type ornament, vanilla and that is about it

  5. Has anyone had success getting gluten free for breakfast or at other times? Specifically maybe some GF cereal in am or toast that's GF. Or later in the day a sandwich with GF bread?

Dd requires GF and I think I will need to get creative unless we want to go to Lido. Would love to have them bring some bread and peanut butter so I can fix her a sandwich to take along on our Belize or other excursions.

I do know they will work with you in the MDR and will advise as much as possible on the Lido but never heard about it for room service but you never know unless you ask.

As far as taking food off the ship it is a definite NO. Unless it is in a factory sealed package you cannot take it off the ship - these are port rules not Carnival - they do not want the risk of something coming to their island/community/country etc that they do not have protection against. People say they do all the time but they are putting not only people lives at risk but their livelihood, agriculture etc

  6. We have handicap parking which helps make many businesses, companies etc accessible but it is not free so I don't see charging for it an issue. I do feel that they should be given priority boarding - some need more time because of mobility issues, some are self conscious of their disability and this eases boarding for them.

  7. Have never done FTTF and always boarded quickly and smoothly but most people swear by it. With 3 kids if you can do it easier then go for it. We are never in a hurry to get anywhere at any time so it is not a big deal to us to be on 15 mins before the next person. We have had a VIP boarding and never used it because we loved meeting new people and usually NEWBIES are in line and love to take part in their excitement of their first cruise. We are retired and no rush to do anything

  8. MDR has its rules and as usual exceptions are made by some wait staff and not by others - it is THEIR call and now people are upset when told no. They should be consistent - it is either YES or NO and not left up to each wait staff to decide.

When you go to the buffet you serve yourself and when you walk out the door they do not know if you have gone to another section to sit, out by the pool, back to your cabin or jump overboard and feed the fish. When you plate it yourself it is done when temperature is correct - when you eat it or where you eat it they have no control over. For the exception of "lobster night" the food on the Lido is basically the same as served in the MDR (I know not always, but generally) without the more formal setting and dancing wait staff. And for the person who just wanted soup - they usually have 2 or 3 different soups on the buffet so this would not be an issue.

  9. When my husband retired I retired. He had a home office for 15 years so I was use to having him around. We are having a blast - people ask me what retirement is like, I tell them "I get up when I've had enough sleep, go to bed when I am tired, eat when I am hungry, drink when I want and every day is a Saturday" There honestly are days when we have to look at the newspaper to know what day it is. We have a camp and we basically go there from May until October, only come home for Dr appts. Our watches hang on our banana rack for the summer - unless we have an appt who cares what time it is. We volunteer lots from October until April then after that we vanish. In fact I am in the Red Cross office manning phones and tomorrow I am driving. Our adult kids say they need a flow chart to keep track of us. My theory is "if I stop I will get old" and I am way too young to stop.

  10. Not sure if it was the same watch but when the time changed and I tried to set it, the stem came off in my hand. SO, I stayed on DST until I got a replacement. What did I do with the watch? I left in in car was hand bay by the wash selector and coin slot. I wish I could have seen the person's face that found it.

I think I am missing something - I have no idea what you just said.

  11. yes. please reread my post slowly.

Okay - so I read it slowllllly and I am sorry but where did I go wrong. You still cannot make reservations at ATY on any cruise I have been on and the menu is the same in both and this is Carnival site so I had no idea that you were referring to NCL - I did not see it anywhere in your post. I apologize if I misquoted but what the heck - not a big deal in the scheme of things.

  12. freestyle to me is wasted restaurant space to get want you want to eat at different locations, as opposed to just ordering what you want off a larger, revolving menu.

you will have to already be assigned to any time dining to partake on carnival, and then, yes, you can make a reservation, or just show up when you're ready.

Anytime dining is in the regular dining room (on the outside of the lower level Chic on the Freedom) not at a different location and the menu is exactly the same - no bigger no smaller.

  13. What happens if you asked for Your Time Dining when booking and you're waitlisted? When do they resolve this?

You don't resolve it - if there is space that becomes available then they go to the waitlist, you can't go to the Maitre d like you do if you want to change table size or dining time - you can certainly check with them and something may come up but it goes to the next person on the waitlist

  14. University here is nothing like highschool - you don't have to ask permission to take time off, you are completely responsible for your attendance. You pay big bucks to go and it is your money you lose if you don't complete the requirements. You are given assignments, papers to complete, tests, exams - they do not give work in lieu of to complete while you are away. They certainly will make exceptions but not sure that a cruise would be an acceptable excuse. This is much different than taking a kid in elementary or high school where they will often give homework assignment to complete while away. As much as it is a wonderful idea I really think you need to talk to her and she can talk to her profs now to see if it would be an issue.

  15. Like others have said - Carnival cares in the sense that they will take no responsibility if anything happens after a certain number of weeks. It is risky to travel after a certain point and it really is protection for the person and unborn child. There is only so much that can be done to protect the stupid in our world. A friend of mine one time said she was going to get her doctor to write a note that she was only X number of weeks pregnant (can't remember if it was for a cruise though) so she could travel. The Dr (to her credit) said no and then told her to find another Dr as she no longer wished to treat her and that she was insulted that she would ask her to put her career in jeopardy. My friend was not a happy camper not only that she could not travel and she lost her Dr. Personally, I think she got what she deserved - I applaud the Dr.

  16. Where were you (what restaurant and in what port) when you took this shot?

very simple to make - use to make them for my kids all the time - it looks so neat and pieces are small so not choking hazard. Thanks for the memories.

  17. If you are wanting a special time book it now and you can always cancel - we always book 2nd at sea day as we don't want to miss the first elegant night and don't want to do a port day as many times we are baffed after an excursion. The last time I was there they had a vegetarian dish but there is also lots on the menu you can order that would suffice. I think sometimes they wait to put on menu depending on availability of certain foods.m Also I would go there the day you embark and ask and they will probably accommodate you with choices. Have a blast and make sure to have the chocolate sampler dessert - it is to die for. Oh and they did not have live entertainment.
