  1. Just adding my two cents. My wife and I have been on two SB cruises, one in the Mediterranean , 2016 and one in the Caribbean, 2018. On both cruises,  I wore a suit or jacket (with a tie & pants 🙂 ) each night for dinner. My wife wore a dress each night.  We celebrated our 30th anniversary on the Med cruise so I wore a tux on that night.  On the formal night I finally got the chance to wear my white dinner jacket.  There were actually three of us who were wearing white jackets, we looked like a James Bond villains convention. The Caribbean cruise was a holiday cruise and there were a number of us gents in tuxes on NYE's.  My wife either wore a cocktail dress or long gown for the formal nights.

My wife and I never felt out of place by dressing up nor did it concern us what others wore.

Enjoy your cruise, I'm sure you will look wonderful.

My wife and I have been on two SB cruises. The first was in the Mediterranean in September, 2016. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. That being said I wore a tux on our anniversary and then a white dinner jacket for the formal night.  My wife wore a long gown on the formal night.  I wore a jacket and tie, my wife a dress or skirt and blouse each night for dinner. Our second cruise was in the Caribbean for New Year's. For NYE, I had a tux and my wife a long gown.  Again it was jacket and tie for me and dresses/skirts & blouses for the wife for the balance of the dinners.  There were other ladies in gowns and cocktail dress and men in tuxes/dinner jackets on formal night. One gent was wearing kilt on NYE. All that being said, I would vote for the tux regardless of what others wear.  Enjoy the cruise.

  3. My wife and I were on the Barbados to St. Martin half of Catlover54's cruise. We enjoyed the cruise immensely, however that being said, this being our second Seabourn cruise, we were somewhat taken aback to see the amount of children on board. Our first Seabourn cruise (Sept 2016, Mediterranean) had no children on board.  On this cruise, unfortunately there were many occasions were the atmosphere around the two pools and three of the four hot tubs was more resembling summer camp, with children jumping in the pools and out to the hot tubs with little regard as to whom was around.  Perhaps if the parents paid attention to their children's behavior rather than sitting back with other parents enjoying their peace and quite, it would not have been quite as bad. We also found that the bow hot tub was used primarily by teenagers.  Please do not take this that I am anti-child, I have four of my own (all now in their 20's) and cruised with them on Royal Caribbean and Princess and we all had a great time. Nor do I particularly blame the kids as Seabourn is not really a cruise line tailored toward the youngsters.

The only other issue we had was that due to the size of some of the families on board, service suffered if you were seated near their tables as the waitstaff was overwhelmed by the amount of people sitting at those tables.  If you were not seated near these tables, the service was excellent.

All that being said, we had a great time, the staff was terrific. We enjoyed the comedian and the "mentalist".   I still cannot figure out how he made my ring and the rings of two other gents join together to become a chain and then apart again.  The New Year's Eve dance party in the Grand Salon was a blast.

We will definitely cruise again on Seabourn.

  4. My wife and I were on our first Seabourn Cruise last month in the Med and were invited to dine at a table hosted by the violinist that was on board. We accepted and thoroughly enjoyed it. As mentioned we did not sit adjacent to one another or even across from each other. I was placed between two ladies, one from San Diego and the other from England. I had delightful conversations with both. it was fun to keep two different conversations going at the same time. But I have always been told that I talk too much anyway.:)My wife was between the violinist and the husband of the English lady. She did have difficulty understanding the English of the Englishman but other than that she enjoyed it as well.

We will be on the same cruise with you just boarding in Monaco. I am bringing a dinner jacket (first opportunity to wear it) and tux as well. My opposite number is bringing a long gown and numerous cocktail dresses. We enjoy looking glamorous (well the wife looks glamorous anyway). See you on board
