  1. Just wanted to pop back here to say thank you for the help and document my experience in case it helps others.

I was able to get my Captain's Club number setup with Select status by calling Celebrity directly. They used my Royal Caribbean Crown & Anchor number to verify my C&A status - then matched the level for CC (they can also look up your C&A info using name, date of birth, etc., if you don't know your C&A number). Celebrity put a hold on a V2 for me at V3 price. Knowing what my rate should be, I then spoke with a travel agent who called Celebrity to get the same upgrade and book me a cabin - again got a V2 for the V3 price but since I went through the agent, I also got their onboard credit promotion. They couldn't "takeover" the booking that was on hold directly with Celebrity (or maybe didn't try since I've had agents takeover bookings I've had with Royal Caribbean in the past) - so we got a different cabin number - but we're happy with the results overall.

    Thanks again for the help.

If you could get an ultra deluxe veranda these have loads of space.  Separate double bedroom, separate small bunk room and large lounge/dining area.  A bit more expensive than a normal vernada but worth it for the space.  There are only 4 right at the front of the ship.  Only downside is very noisy going into port early morning.  These cabins are gradually being turned into suites though as the ships go into dry dock, with the prices more than doubling, so may not be an option?

Unfortunately, those appear to be booked for the sailing date we're looking at. Not sure we'd be keen on being in the very front of the ship for motion reasons, either. Thank you, though.

try to get one that has both. We booked an inside cabin on Reflection which had both. Our 13 5'5 yo loves pullman beds. He would have been comfortable on either the sofa or the pullman bed, but if given a choice, he always chooses the upper bunk. So, it depends on what your kid will be comfortable in at that height and whether he is still agile enough. 🙂

    I am not, but I am 50, not 15. 🙂

Here is a link to our cabin review with pics:

I was surprised by how spacious the inside cabin was. We are so used to microscopic cabins on RCI Oasis class....

Thank you! So, the upper bed is over the couch. We've been on RCI ships where the upper bed(s) were over the main bed. And looks like they have some available with both. Not a bad idea to grab one with both.

  4. Tried doing a search but couldn't find anything. We will have 3 of us (me, my wife, and our 15-year old 5'10" son). Looking at a veranda cabin on Reflection that can hold all 3 of us. Wondering if anyone has any info or preferences when it comes to getting a sofa bed versus an upper bed.

It does apply to aqua class but not suites.   Here is a chart use the bottom blue chart.  If the category you want to book isn't listed it's not part of the program.

Thanks all! I'm looking at a short cruise on Reflection. Looks like I should be able to get a regular veranda cabin (V2) for the price of an obstructed view veranda (V3). Am I reading that right?

  6. Hi all. I'm an experienced cruiser who has only been on Carnival (a couple times) and Royal Caribbean (several times). I see that my RC Platinum status will be honored as Captain's Club Select status. One of the Select perks says "One pre-cruise category upgrade up to AquaClass® (based on availiability at time of booking)." What exactly does that mean?

  7. Sorry for anything that turned out to be misinformation. I was just commenting on what I saw on the TPA touchscreen map. Didn't investigate any further since at that point it didn't impact me but thought I'd share so someone else might be able to investigate further. Kinda weird that there is an option in the touchscreen menu but it doesn't exist.

  8. There is a Cantwell's Pub in Croom, Co. Limerick, and one in Kilmallock, Co. Limerick.....

In what connection was the reference?

If you have a lot of time you could try going through this listing

    http://www.irelands-directory.com/

Select any county and scroll down the page until you find the 'popular sections' and there is a quick link to pubs in the selected county.

That's my last name, and I'm going to Ireland next month for my 50th birthday. So I'd like to visit the pub. I had seen reference to one by that name several years back that had been open since 1910 but have seen recent things suggesting it closed. I could always try to call but was curious if anyone had any local knowledge.

  9. If anyone has any way to fill out the answer this question, it would be very helpful to know which car rental companies at the airport offer a free shuttle to the port after you return your car.

I think it's pretty common to fly in the day before, rent a car at the airport for the one night, (after all, you always have to hit Walmart for that one thing you forgot to pack!), then return the car to the airport in the morning, and hopefully, hop the free shuttle to the port.

The shuttle might be a joint effort among several rental companies, as opposed to each individual company having its own shuttle (this is just my observation though). The airport touch screen map had an option for Port Shuttle under Ground Transportation. Once you clicked that, several rental car company names appeared. I didn't try to click any further because my company's name (Enterprise) didn't appear (as I expected it not to) and I was hoping this Port Shuttle was some other option we could try. I recall the first company name being Avis but not much more than that. You may need to check each company's website info for that location and/or call them.

I used a similar shuttle from the Miami airport, and you had to show your receipt from a participating company. It was a full-size bus (which is what leads me to believe it was a joint effort).

  10. It wasn't so bad. TPA is a pretty nice airport with lots of room. We took our time checking in, then spent some time checking out the shops (my fiancee gets a magnet EVERYWHERE we go), and her son and I hungout in some comfortable chairs charging our electronics and prepping movie downloads, etc., for the flight. After going through security, we grabbed some lunch. Was much better than feeling rushed. I'd rather have time to kill, then stress over getting there on time.

  11. Yup - I think the closest Enterprise to the port is in Ybor City.

What car rental agencies at TPA offered shuttles to the port?

I didn't confirm. But, on one of the TPA interactive touch screens, under transportation, there was an option for cruise port shuttle. When you picked that, it listed several rental car companies (Enterprise was not one of them). I remember seeing Avis but didn't pay much further attention when I didn't see Enterprise on there, and the Enterprise rep suggested trying to work something out with the local site. Rather than do that, we just grabbed an Uber for $20 and called it a day.

  12. We ended up doing Paradise Beach. Ultimately, it cost us about what it would've cost to do an all-inclusive - but it did give us the chance to pick whatever we wanted to eat instead of doing a buffet. Tacos were good. My drink was kinda weak. Fiancee liked hers. Beach was nice. Waterpark blowups were good. Kayaking was ok - limited area. Snorkeling was ok early in the day. Nothing great but for me and my fiancee's 9-year old, we saw some fish and a ray. As others have said, as the day went on, sand got kicked up, and visibility even for the limited stuff there was horrible.

  13. Anyone know if Enterprise at the Tampa Airport has a shuttle to the port? A few years ago, I rented a car from the Miami airport - upon returning it, I was able to take a shuttle to the Miami cruise terminal. Wondering if there's anything similar at Tampa.

  14. That was why I wrote it out, don’t know why it edited the second and not the first. You will have to use google to get website.

Lots of day passes listed. I have booked through them and direct with resort, sometimes it us cheaper direct sometimes through a broker.

Thanks. After I replied, I copied the link info, then googled that partial link and found the site right away :D
