  1. Hi. My name is Tom and I’m a cruise addict. Welcome to the first session of Cruise Addicts Anonymous. My next cruise is in 11 days and we’re planning another for November.

My family cruised on Sunshine back in 2015. I liked that the ship was unique all to herself...there are no other ships in the super-destiny class.

  2. I saved a pdf version of my boarding documents when I made my final payment. The new format is what is available now when you print your documents. Interestingly, when I select to print just luggage tags, FFTF shows up on them. Not so much for the boarding pass.

  3. There are some new customs clearing apps for Port Everglades. Look them up. I've heard they speed the process.

Use Mobile Passport. It took me 10 minutes from stepping off ship to getting into a taxi. I’ve done this three times at Port Everglades now. Couldn’t be easier. I was able to walk past hundreds of people...straight to the front of the line. Love the App.

  4. Nationwide’s policies are great. My January cruise missed Grand Turk because of high winds. I didn’t realize I could make a claim until 6 months later when I read the policy very carefully. There is missed port BEFORE departure at one rate per person and missed port AFTER departure at a lower rate. After dealing with Carnival to get final folio and letter proving missed port, we got a check for $200 per person (3 people). That $600 was a down payment on another cruise! The insurance only cost me $125.

  5. This is nothing new. And certainly no different than booking a hotel on the beach. Often the advertised "low as" price isn't an ocean facing room. I wouldn't blast a hotel for marketing their lowest cost rooms. If you want a "better" room/cabin in a more desirable location, you'd have to expect to pay more.

  6. Older thread, but I'll give my $0.02. I flew Allegiant in January 2017 from Fort Lauderdale to Akron OH. The flight was fairly good, but upon landing, the cabin filled with smoke so thick you couldn't see from one end to another. The pilot stopped the engines at the end of the runway and we sat for 40 minutes. The emergency doors never opened, nor did the flight crew attempt to open them. None of the flight crew seemed to know what to do and the pilot spoke briefly to us through his oxygen mask. We were stuck on the plane until the tug came out and pulled us back in. Do you know how SLOW those tugs go? For my inconvenience, they emailed a $50 voucher for a future flight. I don't believe I will ever fly Allegiant again.

  7. I would highly recommend that eveyone download the Carnival Hub app prior to boarding the ship. Even if you don't have WiFI you can still see what's happening on board, menus, etc.

The same for mobile passport which the lines upon disembarkation are very light which can save you upwards of an hour clearing customs which may you book a late morning flight, particularly if you have FTTF.

I highly recommend Mobile Passport. We got off ship and zipped by hundreds of others in the regular line...right to the front. 5 minutes, tops.

If you need to get to airport after cruise, skip the cruise shuttle which charges $18/person. Taxi stand is across the street right at the terminal...total cost for two with tip, $20.

  8. I have heard that the Conquest requires you to choose between daytime/nightime/or both for stateroom service. If this is true, at what time do you request the stateroom service....is it before you cruise or after you board and you have to fill out a form or something?

    Thanks

We had aft-wrap balcony 6483...fantastic cabin. Wasn't asked about stateroom service. Received morning cleaning and evening turndown.

  9. Leaving Monday. Hoping someone who sailed this itinerary will respond.... I was hoping to skip excursions.... I know it will be okay to wander in Cayman, but a little worried about Ocho Rios...

    How was Conquest???

Did the June 12th sailing. Great time. I wouldn't recommend Ochoa Rios on own...locals very aggressive. Did the zip lining, sky lift, and bobsled excursion...it was fantastic, even though it rained.
