Leaving for the airport shortly. So excited. First transatlantic. I noticed the meet and mingle is "paused". Is there one booked for this cruise?
I haven’t seen any meet and mingle scheduled since before Covid😢

That is only for covid - not any other illnesses or diseases.
I understand that but legionnaires and Covid have some of the same symptoms, I figured as soon as the people were reported sick they would open an investigation to rule out Covid. Just my two cents ☺️

I really do not have any issues, was just posting a confirmation so others knew what had happened in regards to people on those sailings. I think this a potential serious enough of event to publicize, that said, they seem to be on top of it. We now live in a world where info can both be a good thing and maybe not so much a good thing. There have been threads of people upset with not know ing how many had covid on sailing A or B. I do not think they (Carnival) have any obligation to go beyond what they are doing currently. Hopping down off of soapbox now before I fall and get hurt.
I appreciate you sharing, we didn’t get the notice, it’s good information to know.

I was only saying that I am sure Carnival can investigate further with the 2 people to see what they did that was the same on the ship or if the shared the same cabin. We don't seem to know any of this information and not sure if we need to just saying that because it is only 2 people so far it should be easy to find out where it came from.
I feel certain it is under investigation by the CDC, the ship is listed as Yellow https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/cruise/cruise-ship-color-status.html Not stopping me from cruising! They could have gotten it from a hotel or anywhere before they got on the ship.

We sail on Sept 12th, I can't imagine they haven't already taken every precaution necessary to mitigate the possibility of it still being in the water system. At least that is what I am telling myself LOL

Thanks for the review, we sail in 11 days 19 hours and 7 minutes... who's counting LOL

FYI New Carnival Sailing Requirements posted on the website 8/22/21
Requirements for cruise ships to enter ports outside the U.S. continue to evolve and Carnival Cruise Line must operate in full compliance with these regulations. Most recently, the Government of The Bahamas has announced that effective September 3, cruise lines calling on any Bahamian port must be able to confirm that all guests 12 and older are fully vaccinated, with exemptions only for those with a medical condition that prohibit vaccination. Other destinations in the Caribbean normally included in our itineraries have implemented similar limitations. Given the number of itineraries that include multiple destinations throughout the Caribbean and, in particular, in The Bahamas, and the need for us from time to time to adjust itineraries due to medical, technical or weather emergencies, we will now operate all sailings under this requirement.
Consequently, effective with embarkations on or after August 28 from all U.S. Atlantic and Gulf home ports, vaccine exemptions will be limited to children under 12, and those with a medical condition that does not allow them to be vaccinated. The guest’s birth certificate or passport (for children), or a letter from a medical provider stating that the individual cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons, must be presented at check-in, along with the exemption approval letter from Carnival. Unfortunately, all other vaccine exemptions previously granted for upcoming sailings cannot be fulfilled due to these new limitations. If you have already received an exemption approval for anyone in your party that does not meet the requirements of these two categories (under 12 or proven medical condition that prohibits vaccination), that exemption is no longer valid. If you would like to rebook for a later date or request a refund, please contact us at 1-800-CARNIVAL, your Carnival Personal Vacation Planner, or your travel agent.
Vaccine exemptions for ships departing from Long Beach, California will continue to be accepted for children under 12 and as required by U.S. federal law.
Exemptions for children and adults are not guaranteed and are capacity-controlled based on the total number of vaccinated guests projected to be on board. Unvaccinated guests granted an exemption must abide by certain requirements and protocols, which include:
Testing
- Presenting a negative PCR COVID-19 test at check-in, taken between 72 and 24 hours prior to the sailing date (for example, if the sailing is on Saturday, the test may be taken any time from Wednesday through Friday, but not on the morning of embarkation). Unvaccinated guests must take an additional antigen test at embarkation, and test again within 24 hours of debarkation on all cruises longer than 4 days. A US$150 per person charge will be assessed to the guest’s onboard Sail and Sign account to cover the cost of testing, reporting and health and safety screenings. Children under two are exempt from testing requirements.

Anyone aware of how many in the rooms? Do they vary by room? We have a basic balcony if that matters. Thanks!
FYI you can take a non surge protected extension cord with USB's and outlets that is what we do, they are very reasonable on Amazon.

If anyone has been to Amber Cove since the hurricane, how was the port? Any damage?
Horizon is there today, the earthquake was about 200 miles from the port.

You'll have to let us know how your Sept 12th embarkation does since we're on the cruise right after you.
Will do!

We will only Cruise the Vista Class in the Havana area. Were were on the Vista in 2018, we were spoiled by the environment. Adult only ( there were14 yr old twins we rarely saw) plenty of loungers, attentive wait staff and the room was right around the corner. We’re booked on the Horizon 9/12/ 21 and Panorama 7/2/22. Trying to slip in a other one in maybe Jan 22. So glad to be cruising again !

All of the HMC excursion options including clamshells and cabanas became available about 20 days before the cruise date. You should keep checking daily, they sold out in a hurry once they became available, even with the limited sailing capacity onboard.

In Amber Cove, we did Waterfalls and zip line package. It was a relatively difficult excursion from a physical perspective. We had about a 40 minute ride from the port to the waterfalls. Once there we were quickly on our way to get life vests and helmets for a 40 minute walk up the mountain/hill. The walk was relatively steep and warm, we had people struggling on the walk up. Once up at the top we then slid through 7 waterfalls on our way down the falls. It was really fun, but then there was about a 15 minute walk after the waterfalls back to the truck.
Once done we hopped on the truck and drove 20 minutes to the zip line where we ate before zip lining. They clearly are a little out of practice as things were a little slow and we had to rush back to the ship after the zip lining. While the zip lining is fun, it wasn’t the most thrilling zip line locations. The extreme zip line tour would have been better for that.
In Half Moon Cay, be sure to rent either a clamshell or cabana, otherwise the beach is amazing but hot. I wouldn’t worry about planning much, you can rent equipment easily at the beach. The food was subpar on the island but that is a bit to be expected.
A tip for those doing a clamshell, get chair clips and rest your clamshell on the chair clips on the back of your 2 lounge chairs, it will allow a great breeze in the clamshell. If you don’t vent the shell it gets very hot!
When were you able to reserve the clam shells or Cabana? We are going 9/12 and were able to get a pool cabana at Amber Cove nothing is showing for HMC.
Thanks!

Do you happen to know if they were renting Cabanas at Half Moon Cay? We are sailing in a Havana Suite 9/12 and there are no excursions listed at all for HMC.
We have been sailing Carnival for 30+ yrs and for us old folks that have lived through too many hairy chest contest feel the Havana area was made for us. I love the ability to be right at the room and always have a place to sit. Glad y’all had a wonderful trip, stay safe.

They never had the scanner machines running when we got back on the ship. Just scanned our S&S card.
