  1. Read on the St. Maarten forum that there was damage to some of the beach bars on Orient Beach which they saw pictures of on Facebook. They said those small little business on the beach did not fare well.

Thoughts and prayers to the people in St. Maarten and in Bermuda. Over 8000 people viewing the Bermuda webcam right now.

This breaks my heart:( My thoughts & prayers go out to everyone affected. Thank you for sharing this.

  2. One more bit of advice. Do your research on what "bar/restaurant" you want to hang out at. Many have online menus and pictures.

We did Orange Fever one year and Kakao last time. Both were good. Kakao was exceptionally good.

It is good to be able to tell the cab the exact beach or club you wish to go to so you can get dropped off at the right location.

Yes, That's a great tip!!! Location is everything. I heard awesome things about Kakao also:)

Thank you so much again!!! I really appreciate it:)

  3. Also agreed with Orient Beach for St. Martin. You can take a taxi from the pier to Orient Beach and there are plenty of beach bars, loungers and umbrellas to rent. Keep in mind, this is on the French side and you may see some nudity on the beach.

St Maarten may still have the Westin offering a day pass.

For St Kitts, Marriott has a day pass for $35.

    Can't answer for PR.

Thank you so much for the awesome tips!!! I will definitely check it out:)

  4. Check out ResortForADay(dot)com and CaribbeanDayPass(dot)com -- we have had success with both these companies. Usually about $60 and includes lunch and a beverage. You get to use pool, facilities and sometimes they have private beaches. We find its worth the extra money to have less people and better facilities. Good luck!

Awesome!!! I think it's well worth the extra money. I have spent way more money on tours. I will definitely check it out!! I just got a notice from my Travel Agent about some Port changes on our Cruise. Looks like we are staying in Puerto Rico for 2 full Days since they are doing Ship Maintenance while we're in Port. So this sounds perfect!!!

    Thank you so much!!!!

    Nicole :)

  5. You do know that you don't have to pay a hotel to have a wonderful beach day...the beaches are public, with facilities! But, you will get more info if you post this on the Thread for each port....it's in the main menu under "Ports of Call".

Yes, we usually do public beaches when we cruise in the Caribbean. I heard very nice things about the hotels with day passes- so I though I would get some more info on them. We are going to be in port until 7pm for 2 of the ports & it's nice to have use of pool & restaurant. Thank you so much for the feedback:)

    Thanks so much:)

  6. We always bring our own on...Every trip. Either stick luggage tag on it and give to porters (once we had a can missing) or put in duffle bag with luggage tag--inside plastic bag (once one can was very very close to exploding) and give to porter. They have always made it to our cabin.

And who gives a hoot what other people think...it's ur vacation. ENJOY IT

    Safe sailing

    Thank you so much!! ;)

  7. My daughter is cruising in November on the Gem and heard that NCL serves Pepsi instead of Coke.

I believe I read on these boards that you can bring your own soda onboard, but can you also bring it to the dining rooms for dinner?

Or are you limited to the cabin for consumption?

    Don

Thank you to my Dad & Everyone for your feedback and wonderful advice!!! It was very helpful. Sorry if my love for Coca Cola offended anyone. We are very excited for our upcoming Cruise!!! Thank you so much for all the well wishes!!! :)
