Is this a new requirement as normally I attach proof to an e mail and send it to the cruise company and usually get the credit within 1 to 4 days   What is this stockperks thing?

I also wonder about the safety of attaching your stock broker and all that to Stockperks app.  Just one more place for thieves to hack and take all my stock?  Has anybody checked out the safety of this type of thing?

  2. Chat worked.  Princess is having a sale, but only for new bookings.  I re-booked on a 3-day hold, and saved $3600 for the two of us.  Chat is available on Sunday, and it worked perfectly for cancelling the previously-booked cruise and at the same time switching the FCD to the new one.

    Thank you for your help,

Seeing that this thread is now bumped up, months later.

It is truly sad to see that this issue is still happening with the Deluxe Balconies on that class of ships.

But, in reality, these 'blocked' cabins are worse now than ever before.

    Entire decks or sections.

Almost impossible, without sheer luck, to find the type of cabin you want on the deck you want.

This all goes along with the Princess big push for GTY bookings.  And, then to make them NON-refundable.

I am with many who will have a huge problem if I can't select a cabin.  If I can't book a cabin that I know will meet my needs.

I don't know what the heck is going on with Princess,  but like many other recent customer service and policy issues.   But it is NOT good

I'm going to blame it on the accountants.  They figured that they could fill every cabin that holds 3 or 4 people with 3 or 4 people.  That is not realistic.  Thank you, Wishing on a Star, for figuring out a work-around.  I've come upon this for the last three bookings, and just realized that there was something wrong.  Slow me.  For airlines I can book the seat I want and pay more.  I have no problem for selecting my cabin and paying more, but to not allow me to select a cabin that they will later just deal out to whoever on a guarantee is also not what the accountants want.  They didn't think this one out all the way.  Again, thank you for figuring out the work-around.

BTW, I booked a Celebrity cruise.  They kinda did the same thing, but told me that I could book any of those 3-passenger cabins for $500 more per cabin.  Princess wants $699 for the passenger that I will cancel.  Those accountants might try harder to figure out how to fill out with fewer people to wait on for almost the same price.

  4. I had been looking at a 10 day Sea of Cortez cruise out of LA on the Grand for 2025.  The interesting thing is that, if you go to a general deck plan of the Grand, there is a place to click for the number of guests.  When one clicks on 2 passengers, all of the cabins for 2, 3, or 4 passengers show up.  If you go farther and try to actually book with 2 passengers, however, it will not allow a person to book most of them.

Thanks to whoever recommended to book with a third person; it worked and I got the aft balcony I wanted.  Will cancel the third person in a few days.  This thread was very helpful and insightful.

Hello Charlotte, this past thread may help.  It discusses this very topic that you are interested in.  We too like the aft-facing premium deluxe balcony cabins and they are difficult to book for 2 people, although if you read the thread there are ways that often work.

Thank you; that was very helpful,

Princess isn't doing it on a "whim"....they have an interest in having the cabins that sleep 3-4 available for that ....they charge for the 3rd and 4th guest.

Believe me.  There are many times of the year when there are no children aboard and only a handful of cabins with 3 adults.  If they are holding all cabins with sofas for 3 passenger bookings, when there are only a few months a year when people travel with kids, they are losing a lot of money by not allowing people to book those cabins for 2.

  7. I'm at a loss.  Have read all this thread and didn't find what I was looking for.  I have about 30 Princess cruises under my belt, and have successfully booked a lot of cruises online since my TA retired a few years ago.   However, I am having a hard time meshing together what I've been reading on this thread and what I currently see on the Princess website for a specific cruise I have in mind.

We do like to select our own cabins; we love aft balconies where we can sit, watch the wake in peace all day, and not have a care in the world.  I'm willing to pay extra for those cabins, but the vast majority of them on any of the sailings I've checked out are now guarantee only; on a cruise that opened up this morning, only two aft balconies are available to choose--and they are the smallest of all aft balconies on the ship.

People on this thread say that they can pay a lot more to select their own cabin.  How do you do that?  That's my question?  Is that available only through a TA and not online?  That's my second question.

Yes, the only problems we had with the Australian ETA app was in getting it to read the chip on our 2 U.S. passports issued two years ago -- both of us using our own android smartphones.  Each of us tried for almost an hour [with no internet connectivity problems] until the app accepted both of our chips, within a couple of minutes of each other.

    ---

We have tried and tried.  Android; NFWhatever is ON.  Flash is OFF.  Must have both on one phone.  After a frustrating 20 minutes or so it recognized my chip.  Cannot get the same phone to recognize my husband's chip.  Did them the same way.  Any suggestions?

I have always seen a small red link to cancel once you view your booked excursions through the Personalizer.  I just went and confirmed this for an upcoming sailing.  You have to "open" the excursion fully where it says "Booked for x guests".

Thank you both.  It had not occurred to me to click on the arrow.  You saved me $400!  These threads are extremely helpful for people like me who are computer illiterate.

  10. I booked a full day Istanbul tour through the Princess website.  Now I have a similar tour with a friend for $400 less for our family.  Have searched and searched my account, and all the places to click on, but cannot find anything that would allow me to cancel the Princess excursion.  Other cruise lines I've used make it simple.  Please tell me what I'm missing and how to cancel an excursion booked through Princess' website.

Loved Mooloolaba!  Relaxing, easy to get around, beautiful and not the typical port of seen it before souvenir store after souvenir store.

It's not a port of call on most AU cruises and that very likely keeps it so low key and relaxing.

I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Thanks.  That's what I hoped it would be,

  12. Unfortunately, I booked a two cabins through the Carnival website; our group has 4 adults and 2 children under 5.  We were recently sent a message that, even though fully paid months ago, we would not know if the children would receive exemptions until about 14 days prior to departure, and that even if so they and we would only be allowed on bubble tours, etc.

We've decided to cancel,  HOWEVER, I cannot find on the website how to cancel; there is no "cancel" thing to click as there is on hotel websites.  So I called the 800 # and was on hold for 20 minutes to get through to the "payments" option, but that woman can only take payments--she said she could not cancel so she forwarded my call to the department that handles cancellations about 1 1/2 hours ago.  Is this the only way to cancel if the cruise was booked through the website?

  13. The new requirements are through February so a month out won't help as some suggested.  They told us that the exemptions for kids will be issued between 7 and 14 days prior to the cruise, but that is too late to cancel air, etc.

Unfortunately, I booked through the Carnival website, not with a TA.  Cannot find on the website how to cancel; it's not there like it is for a hotel room.  Called the 800 # and was on hold for 20 minutes to get through to the "payments" option, but she cannot cancel a cruise so forwarded my call to that department about 1 1/2 hours ago.  Is this the only way to cancel if the cruise was booked through the website?

My 27 day Emerald April 3rd  SYD-LAX was outright canceled

That's number 7 cancellation, but this a recent record for me,  being canceled almost a year in advance 🤣

We had a Sea of Cortez cruise cancelled 18 month in advance

My understanding is you need to call to have fcc applied.

The pay a new deposit question depends on the person you get when you call. If you book off the site you'd have to pay the deposit then still call to apply fcc.

Suggested here a few times has been book on site then put the cruise on hold then call with the booking numbers.

In my case my rebook was a few $s cheaper and still had to pay about 68bucks more deposit/balance which turned into 70bucks of obc.

Good strategy and good to know.

    Thanks,
