  1. The RC cocktail hour is every night too.

We are also D+ on RCI but enjoy our January cruise on Azura to Caribbean because of direct flights from our local airport. Just to summarise are we not able to buy gin at airport to take on board?

Never take booze on RCI because of nightly happy hour and gift of wine awaiting in our stateroom.

    Thank you

  2. Thank you for taking the time to post all this information about Navigator. We are sailing on her mid September. Our friends Ken and Christine are on your sailing. They are D+ and are going to CL but may be in DL tonight. They are Scottish early 70s and Christine has blonde short hair. Ken will be drinking red wine!! Please say hello from Margaret and Neil. That may freak them out!

Thanks again and keep on posting.

  3. We are sailing on Independence June 17 and am disappointed to read your comments. The most recent reviews on CC have been somewhat critical as well. We have had many RCI cruises and have always avoided sailing from Southampton because it is much easier for us in Scotland to fly to either Rome or Barcelona. In the last year we had 6 RCI cruiseshave noticed a fall in food quality and much cost cutting however without exception service and cleanliness has not been compromised. Am interested in what your disappointments were. Did you complain to the senior staff?

  4. It drives me bonkers that people get so upset about the status reference...

How would the community prefer they convey that they are an experienced cruiser?

Thank you never meant to brag!! Just used it to explain that I was an experienced cruiser and should have known better than take the risk! However only guarantee outside cabins were bookable. Asked TA to try to get us a better cabin but was quoted £800 to move to H/G grade

  5. OP, Good luck and I hope it turns out to be an enjoyable experience. You learned two lessons for the price of one. Guarantee cabins are a crap shoot, you have no idea where you will end up. Crown & Anchor status is meaningless and outside North America you have no recourse or opportunity to change to another cabin of the same category. Secondly, you learned you are more likely to get flamed here instead of receiving empathy and understanding.

Thank you. Have read many other negative things on this site just have not been on receiving end!!! I have a sense of humour and am not that upset!!!!

  6. I am sorry that you did not understand what "guarantee" category means.

You have learned a hard lesson.

And C&A status does NOT figure into that cabin assignment.

    Enjoy your wonderful anniversary cruise!

Thank you for your good wishes. The cruise is not selling so only guarantee outsides offered. This was the first time I have booked a guarantee after many cruises. I did realise the implication of this.No worries we will enjoy ourselves.

  7. A few weeks ago booked a heavily advertised cruise on Vision from Dubai. Would be 4 weeks back from a P & O Caribbean cruise but as the date was over our 50th wedding anniversary and package price was good decided to book along with our cruising friends. Only guarantee outside cabins bookable on TA offer. Am d+ and joked that we would probably get worst ever cabin! A week later were assigned 2518! Deck 2 at front with intercomunicating door!!Shock horror realised that is what guarantee is all about! 346 points and never done this before. UK RCI would not allow us to change only option was to loose our £300 deposit. so now trying to look on bright side as only a 7 day cruise and maybe soundproofing would have improved since bad experience on Grandeur many years ago! Noticed on deck plan that cabin has 2 sets of linked doors? Maybe somebody can cheer me up!!!!

Happy New Year when it comes.

Thank you for your description of Rhapsody being "in the wars" again. We were on August 26 sailing and the new windows and paint touch up on deck 3 visable from freak wave earlier. The crew also told us about that experience! Not surprised at lack of communication from captain. We never heard from him other than his mid day message. The crew were so friendly and the DL concierge JJ was brilliant Gave up the CL as the concierge ignored us. Thought might have been because we were only in a JS! However friends who were on Sept. 5 sailing had the same treatment and the were in a GS!!!!

Enjoy your Harmony TA. Wish we had not had to cancel.

  9. OTE=fragilek;50451673]If you read my posts about the issues we had on our last cruise you will see I learned that lesson but unfortunately not until day 3 and I was demented:D. From now on its the top lol

So glad you posted this. Am on Rhapsody 26 August sailing booked with UK TA . Had been given free select drinks package but when checked on line at RCI site did not show. Was on May 26 Brilliance and only received $150 OBC on last day after many phone calls to UK TA. Agree very embarrasing from guest services. Same TA. Took Bob's advice and emailed them asking for RCI invoice. Received it and shows Select drinks included! Many thanks and to you Bob. You are goldmine of information!
