  1. Adding a note specific to the Hyatt. We live around the corner from the Hyatt and have been known to stay there during foul weather just because.  Yes, it's on Massport property so you'll either have a room looking over the runways or the more glamorous side overlooking the harbor. It's a fabulous view.

Water taxis, a thoroughly civilized way to get around the harbor, are not currently running due to COVID, but are expected to come back into service in the Spring. These can take you straight over to Long Wharf/Faneuil Hall, North End, to the Seaport district including nearby access to Black Falcon.

No matter where you stay, anywhere on the harbor will be a delight.

  2. Icing on the cake for a holiday if we're able to see this spectacular site.  From Newsweek:

The total lunar eclipse, which takes place in the early hours of January 21, is special as it will also be a “supermoon”—a phenomenon where a full moon coincides with its closest approach to Earth, known as the perigee. This makes the Moon appear bigger than normal....These two events mean stargazers in January will see a “super blood moon.”

You are in for quite a treat- New Orleans is my favorite food destination. There is so much amazing food- I could create an entire new thread of food pictures in New Orleans.

So I don't detour too much, here is a short list of some of my favorites. By no means is the the only good food in NOLA, you will certainly find something amazing in many, many places.

Stanley- corner of Jackson Square is our favorite breakfast place. My wife loves the Bananas Foster French Toast and I love either the Eggs Stanley or Breaux Bridge Benedict.

Drago's- Located by the Harrahs Casino. I love their charbroiled Oysters.

Lorettas- counter in the French Market and has a restaurant just north of the Quarter. Her Praline Beignets and Crab Beignets are some of the best things I've ever eaten. I think she only serves the Crab ones in the restaurant.

Parkway Tavern & Bakery- a few miles north of the quarter. I love their surf n turf Po Boy.

    K-Pauls- Anything here.

Mr. B's- BBQ Shrimp. It's messy but delicious.

Napoleon House- Muffuletta and a Pimm's Cup to drink.

Carousel Bar- your favorite cocktail while sitting around a rotating bar.

Cochon- Roasted Oysters were incredible. Anything here.

    Peche- Anything seafood here.

    GW Fins- Scalibut.

    Mulate's- Fun Cajun place.

Again- there are so many amazing places and I just scratched the surface. Enjoy- its an amazing city with amazing culture, amazing architecture, amazing history, amazing food, and amazing people.

I think you've mentioned most of our favorites! Also love NOLA and for a relaxed genteel brunch, Commander's Palace.

Looks fine.  Just a matter of getting used to it just like last time.   One VERY minor thing is that I don't like the list of ships up there where it is.  Too much scrolling.  Like I said, MINOR.

Agreed on on the ship list. First viewing on my iPad mini, the list is a waste of space. Otherwise seems to look fine.  Need to pop in to the Getaway Roll Call I started......

  5. Get a little first aid kit together with band aids, and some over the counter meds you might use. They are very expensive on the ship!

I don't do a spread sheet, but make lots of lists, like what outfits I will wear on what day. I agree, planning is half the fun!

We just gave out 1st Aid kits as part of our company summer swag. :D:D:)Can never go wrong with those.

  6. My excuses for not answering back in a timely fashion. An update: we are both safely in our hotel room in Fort Lauderdale; my friend got better and we are both ready for our cruise today! Your help really helped me through a difficult time, many thanks!

Happy to hear all is well. I've often wondered about this exact topic.
