  1. Hi VacationDreamer,

My story is a little different but will give you hope.

My family rented a house at the Outer Banks about 12years ago.  My husband rushed us out since Saturday traffic was a bear.  About 30 minutes in, my daughter realized no Blankie.  My husband refused to turn around since ir was a simple phone request.

It took 3 weeks or daily calls to the rental agent to sent the mail the blanket.  Blankie arrived home and my Daughter stills travels with it and a stuffed monkey at 24 years old.  We still have discussions of “what if” before some of her trips.  Blankie been left home a few times since it was not worth the risk.

Please have hope your daughter ‘ s Blankie will found its way home.

  2. Hi

Cool Cruiser is correct, the worst air times are selected.  My husband and I are booked on our first NCL Alaskan cruise in September.

It will take 24 hours to travel from Anchorage to Philadelphia.  Terrible to treat customers with these times.

Both of us are due back at work on Tuesday.  I am flexible with plans and realize the line's objective is to book the cheapest flight but 24 hours borders on inhuman.  This airfare is NOT free.

Spent 2 hours on hold yesterday and spoke to no one who could help me.  One more discussion with travel planner today but I an ready to shine some light on NCL's poor customer service.

I booked this cruise two weeks ago and every step is met with a problem.  If now is the honeymoon period, what is the actual cruise going to be like?

  3. Hi Lovetotraveltx,

My husband and I crossed the first week of May.  It is fabulous!

Back to your original question and our research results.  First, if you buy a tux accessory, Menswear House will give you a coupon for your next Menswear purchase at 1/2 off.  Go head and buy the bow tie or cummerbund then use the coupon for the tux.

Love the suggestion for consignment shop purchase, but my husband would never sign up for that deal.

He did rent on the QM2 for two evenings.  The cost for one is $90, two is $130 and three is $175.  Be prepared to purchase the bow tie and cummerbund.  (Hint, hint buy before your vacation for better price and selection).

Be honest with your self: Will I really use this tux again?  We attend dress up affairs where a dark suit is all a man needs. Otherwise, the tux will sit in the closet.

I would love to vacation on another Cunard adventure but no plans in the future.

My advise is to weigh each option and be realistic.

  4. Hi 2 Oldpeopleinlove,

My husband and I are traveling on May 5 and faced the same issue.  After reviewing many configurations, renting one ways is the best time and money wise, even with the drop off fee.  Yes, there are cheaper methods but you also need to keep the luggage factor in mind.

    Happy planning,

  5. Hi CC experts!

My husband and I are booked on the QM2 in May.  The challenge is arranging for reasonable parking in Red Hook then flighting into JFK 10 days later.  Please note I considered Amtrak and public transportation but with luggage, it’s not doable.

I am open to any other combinations of driving/shuttle/charter bus with either point as the start.

i reviewed Transbridge but times do not work.

We are coming from the Reading Pa area.

i am counting on you experienced CC members!

    Thanks,

    Phillyrose

  6. Hi Markhnh,

My husband and I toured the Bacardi Factory about 3 years ago, while the tour was still free. I researched the transportation options and my comment is it is a piece of cake! The ferry was 50 cents for a 10 minute ride. The pier is on the same block as the cruise piers. When you leave the ferry station on the other side, walk to a parking garage about 1/2 block up to the right. The fare was $3.00 per person.

We returned about 2 years ago for the same tour with my daughter and paid admission. The tour was informative & worth doing. The best part is the drink sampling at the end. A bar sits under an open air pavilion with lovely views. I could chill there all day, it was so relaxing.

Vans are always sitting in the parking lot to return to the ferry station so no worries about availability. Some one else might jump in with the cab fare but I think I heard $15-20 range. The question is how many people in your party for the breakeven point?

One more piece of unsolicited advice: Don't book thru the ship excursion: Carnival charged $50 the first year when our net cost was $3.50 a person. Even if you take into consideration the $12 admission(?), you will still be ahead and more importantly, not herded or rush.

    Have fun,

    Philly

  7. If you are looking for an inside room, the category is 4j. Hopefully, someone else can fill in the details but my husband & I booked one for a cruise two weeks ago. The understanding was is any handicapped person needs one, we'd been assigned a new cabin equal to or better than this category.

The bathroom was hugh with a sit in shower. Two twins beds along one wall allowed extra floor space.

    Hope this helps you out.

  8. Has anyone ever attended a tea party at the historic Government House in Nassau, hosted by the Governor General’s wife? I will be in Nassau on Sept 25 on the Conquest. The event is from 4:00 to 5:00pm. The ending point is 5:00pm for the ship but is that the curfew limit time or the sailaway time?

This is one item on my travel wish list. But I don't wish to be a pier runner by cutting it too close.

    Thanks,

    Patrice

  9. My DD & DH traveled on the Summit last month. Below is the local telephone company link for Wifi service. The charge for 3 days is $14.99 per device. You buy in a small gift shop right off the pier.

It keep my text crazed daughter very happy!
