  1. We take one of our kids old hockey bags (duffel bag) folded up in our suitcase. I open it up once in the room and everyone throws their dirty clothes in during the trip. Once the trip is over I just zip it up and put a luggage tag on it. The benefits to this are I am not spending my time packing dirty clothes, the space taken up in my suitcase is now available for souveniers, if there is still room I just throw loose items in that need to be packed last minute (flip flops etc) and when we get home the entire bag goes right into the laundry room.

EWW! My DH plays hockey and his bag STINKS. Maybe your kids aren't as gross, but I won't even let him bring it in the house, let alone a small cruise cabin. I make him put it in the garage!

  2. While on the Ecstasy in April 06 as we were leaving port from Galveston, the wife and I had just ventured into the Atrium bar for a sail off cocktail when we heard our names being paged. We went to the pursers desk and were asked if we could assist them with a problem. The ship was totally sold out and they had a couple with a older child that refused to accept a room with a cot. Since our room had a drop down, I thought Carnival was going to ask that we swap rooms. Instead they asked if they could put us in the owners penthouse suite and give the family our room. I immediately asked "how much?" and the head purser said that we would be helping them out. He asked if he could take us up to see if the room would be "acceptable" to us. As we entered the room, I turned and told the wife the suite absolutely was acceptable. Later the purser told me that we were asked as we were Platinum members.

The suite was wonderful and the only thing I wished could have been different was that we were cruising alone and normally cruise in groups and there was none to show it off to and it was only a 5 day cruise. Loved the suite, especially the full privacy glass overlooking the main pool area of the ship.

    AWESOME!!!

  3. June 1996 My Grandmother took me on a Princess cruise out of New Orleans as a college graduation present - just the two of us. We were watching the Newlywed/Not so Newlywed game. Question was "where is the strangest place that you have made whoopi?" and the newlywed BLONDE wife answers "In the butt"!!! Everyone BUSTS up laughing! My grandmother turns to me and says "what did she say?" I couldn't bring myself to tell my grandmother what she said - so I just said "In the bunk" - it worked - she assumed I was referring to the top bed in the cabin. To this day my grandmother still doesn't know the truth!

    Thanks for all the laughs!

    Quick thinking!!;)

  4. Thanks for the abdominal workout with so much laughing!

My stories are not as funny as some of the gems in here but I still chuckle at one particular one.

In '99 I went on my hs graduation cruise and being young and hormonal I got a crush on our cabin steward but I didn't plan to "go there". One day I'm walking back to my cabin and I see him doing his work in my cabin so I just say hello and walk in, he says hello and gives me a confused look just as I realized that this was not my cabin. Not to walk out in shame and embarrassment I look at the bed, look at him, push him on the bed, give him a kiss on the lips, say "there" and walk out with dignity and a sense of accomplishment.

His smiles were larger than usual for the rest of the cruise.

OMG that's funny, what happened after that? Was it awkward seeing him again after that?

  5. Two cruises ago, our ship was sailing in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, when a passenger spotted a VERY small boat, with one man aboard, waving his arms. The ship turned around and went back. A small contingent of men(with guns, BTW) rode out to the man. We watched them(through our binoculars) give him some gas and food, then left as he cranked the small motor and sailed off. We were told he was fishing and had run out of gas................

Off topic, but your story reminded of when I was in Aruba (an all-inclusive) and some guy from our resort fell asleep on his raft in the ocean. When he woke he was many MILES out at sea. He was frantically waving until the resort sent a boat out to get him:) It was funny from our point of view but I'm sure he was scared out of his mind when he woke up!

  6. I think I'm going to be sick! The Britanis was my first cruise (back in 1989). It was my senior week cruise also. To think the home of all those memories I have, is sitting at the bottom of the ocean right now. It makes me sad and it makes me feel old. But it only sank 11 years after I was on it so I'm not that old. It's not like I was on the Titanic! I have many memories of the ship's photographer too, hmm!;););)

  7. I heard that if you purchase a spa service (massage, facial, etc) you may use the spa facilities free of charge for the rest of the cruise. I intend on getting both a massage and a facial (I have a coupon buy 1 service get one 1/2 off) so I'll find out if this is true.;)

  8. This thread is awesome! I agree that the guys/girls should be allowed to splash around also. I am going on NCL Spirit (8/12 to 8/26), anyone out there going and want to share a baby pool with us? I have 2y/o DS who is not potty trained yet. I am going to try this summer, but great idea just in case.

  9. Back in 1991 ( I was 19 then) on the Carnival Celebration, I sang a "Cher" song in the lip sync contest. Well two guys did a "Sonny & Cher" song (the one guy in drag). Much later and after many beers I was up on the lido deck smooching with a cute guy I met that night. As we were kissing, I heard someone walking by say "look, the two "Chers" are hooking up!" I had NO IDEA he was the Cher that was in drag earlier! I almost died laughing, but wouldn't tell him why. :o:o:o
