We are also scheduled to be on her again in July 2021 for the 12-day Baltic Sea cruise from Dover England. I'm Really looking forward to it since its the fist time Carnival has done this itinerary in 20-30 years.

Not quite 20-30 years.  Sailed the Baltic on the Legend in August 2013 out of Dover.  Same itinerary as the July 2021 you are booked on except we went to Copenhagen instead of Gothenburg.  One of our best cruises ever.  Hope it will be for you too.

My DH and I are also booked on the Legend for July 2021.  The 12 day Iceland(July 4) and the 9 day Norway(July 16).  Hopefully, all these cruises will be a go and we will be getting off the ship as you get on it on July 25 for the Baltic.

  2. Was on the Horizon in a Cove Balcony cabin for 24 days...Med and TA, I think it was in 2018.  We did have an issue with the cove balcony.  It was always wet.  Not from ocean spray, but rather from above.  Every day they were hosing down one of the floors above and all that water rolls down, right onto the balconys.  Wet floor, wet banister, wet chairs.  Each time we wanted to spend time on the balcony we had to use one of those blue towels to dry it off.  Sometime when we were out on it, we could watch the water dripping and rolling in.  Look out the "window" opening and up and you could see them hosing off.  This was not just our cove balcony, but other cabins along our hallway had the same issue.  Other than that, a great cabin.

Casino rate bookings get paid the same as normal bookings. The only difference is because you get a discounted rate directly through the carnival casino, whenever you want to call about your booking you have to call directly to casino booking which can be a pain.

We always cruise on a casino rate and our PVP handles it all...have never needed to call or deal with the casino department directly.   If you don't have a PVP, maybe one would be beneficial.  If you have one that doesn't take care of your casino bookings, then it might be time to change to a PVP that will.

Ive heard of people loading it then just making a couple plays on the slot machine then cashing out. I guess that still equals a few minutes !

It does.  I don't like to play slots, just use the machines as a means to cash out my OBC.

Another option is to put any unused portion of your OBC on your Sail and Spend card at one of the slot machines in the casino, wait a few minutes, then go and cash it out at the casino cashier.

But why do you need to wait for a few minutes

The casino folks frown upon this.  If you wait a few minutes they don't question you about it.

  6. Has anyone contacted Carnival about booking their flights to Europe for the 2021 Legend sailings?  I believe flights can be booked approximately 330 days beforehand, so should be able for the June and  early July sailings.  If Carnival won't book the flights maybe that is the proverbial "writing on the wall".

We and two other couples travelling with us cancelled last Friday.  Our money was refunded by Tuesday.  All except $100 future cruise credit each.  I realize that to this point Viking has offered a generous cancellation policy...cancel up to 24 hours prior and receive a 125% FCC.  (Per the woman I spoke to when cancelling the cruise.)  However we are talking a lot of money and there are so many unknowns right now.  If this had been an ocean cruise booked with one of the big lines for less than $5000 we would have probably waited.  I’m just not sure what will happen to Viking if this hold on river cruises is prolonged.  Being a retired infection control nurse I would be very surprised to see European river cruises happening at all this summer.

I’m also still annoyed at Vikings policy that full payment is required so far in advance.  For us that was a year prior to sailing.  We agreed to it before the world turned upside down.  Now we will wait and see.  We can always rebook.

Great to hear Viking allowed you to cancel via telephone; the booking contract stated they required it to be in writing.  Our cruise is not until November 2020 and the current FCC/cancel for full refund policy does not apply to us.

We too were very unhappy with Vikings pay in full policy...we paid in full 18 months before the cruise is scheduled to run.  If it hadn't been a trip we really wanted to do, would not have done it.  Now we worry Viking will not be solvent enough to refund us if we wait too long to request it.

Three weeks ago, we did request refunds on all our extra excursions and these refunds have yet to show up on the credit card.  Talked to Viking and they insist they were done.  No mention of any waiting period, let alone a 21 day waiting period.  Will wait a bit longer before getting the credit card company involved.  What really makes me angry about this is if I had just purchased the excursions they would show up on the credit card immediately.
