Traveling on the Symphony of the Seas in December. Looking for a recommendation for setting up post cruise transportation from the port to the Miami Airport. Will be traveling with my wife and 4 kids (all under 10).
Thanks all!

What is the earliest boarding time on the Symphony of the Seas @ the Port of Miami?
-
Thanks. That is what I'm starting to think also. I see there is an Embassy Suites right by the airport.
I see some good hotels in Brickell. In FLL, I know the areas and where to stay. As I've basically never cruised out of Miami, I have no clue about the areas. Is Brickell a good area? Good as in safe and able to go out and walk around to find food.
Thanks again for all the assistance.

I can't think of an all suite hotel not at the airport which is a dismal area, aside from the Doubletree.
I would search hotwire for two rooms downtown Miami. After you win, call the hotel and request adjoining rooms. It not being peak season will be in your favor.

Thanks. The cruise is end of April.

An August hotel will be half of what a February hotel would cost.
I would pick a Brickell hotel but your price point would determine which.

Thanks--Flying into MIA.
6 in a room will limit your options. Flying into MIA or FLL?
Near the airport there's a Homewood Suites in the Blue Lagoon neighborhood, plus a very isolated Embassy Suites. Downtown there is another Homewood Suites in the Mary Brickell area, near lots of local dining and shopping options.
Port shuttles in Miami are only offered by a few airport area hotels. Stay where you want, forget about shuttles, and use Uber, Lyft and taxis.

We cruise a lot out of Fort Lauderdale, but going out of Miami on the next cruise. What are the "best" hotels. I know "best" depends on what you are looking for. Family of 6 with including 4 kids under 6. Looking for hotels that are reasonably priced and prefer closer to the cruise port. Those with shuttles from airport and to cruise port are best. We arrive around 6:30pm the night before, so probably not doing much but dinner and then getting the kids settled down. What do people like??? Good options?? Thanks for the help!

We normally fly out of FLL after a cruise, but last cruise we pushed the envelope. Cruised on the Allure so were out of Port Everglades. We took a 10:45 flight out of Miami, not FLL. Family of 5 (kids were 4, 2 and 2). We self disembarked and were some of the first off and were quickly on the way to the airport. We were at the airport by 8ish. So we had plenty of time to spare. I appreciate the potential for issues with an early Miami flight when your ship docks in Port Everglades so if all things are equal I'd prefer to FLL, but this time the prices and times worked much better out of Miami. So early Miami flight is possible.

All--I could have sworn I have read somewhere that on day 1 the arcade has a 1 hour "free play." This is the first year any of my kids are of age to be interested in the arcade so was curious if I really read that or if I totally made this up???

Our stars all seem to be aligned this morning.[emoji847] we are currently en route to Miami airport via jiffy Jeff transportation, which I pre arranged. We have a 10:45 flight from Miami to Chicago (risky, I know, but a gamble I was willing to take because of my previous debarkation experiences on Oasis class ships). The concierge told us to meet her in the champagne bar at 7:15, and said she would walk us thru to customs as we did self assist walk off. We were outside the champagne bar at 6:50, and one of the staff said we’d probably be curbside before 7:15, and he was right.
6:55-7:10....exactly 15 minutes from ship to curbside. [emoji106]

Awesome review! Thanks! We have about the same thing on our cruise on the Allure in May. 10:45 am flight out of Miami. How much was Jiffy Jeff Transportation? Thanks!

All--A question re: swim jackets for the little ones. We normally bring our own. I vaguely remember on our last Oasis cruise you could actually check out swim vests for the kids right by the pool. It would save a lot of space if don't need to bring our own. Anyone know if the Allure has them for rental?

Thanks!

Anyone know the dinner hours for Coastal Kitchen on the Allure?
Thanks in advance for the help!

My 2 cents. The Solarium Bistro is a free lunch option. It's normally a bit lighter and healthier and always delicious.

Hi Everyone - We are sailing this Sunday. I woke up today and read about "Earl" the tropical storm/hurricane scheduled to be in our path next week! I know that the captain may redirect a ship due to weather, but I'm still wondering if anyone here has had this type of experience? I'll pack rain gear, and figure out something for possible seasickness (ugh), all while keeping fingers crossed it is not that bad (for us or the folks living in the storm path).
Also, a friend suggested I get insurance. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks! Teresa
Had this experience in October of 2012. Our cruise left right as Hurricane Gonzalo started to form. We were on an Eastern Caribbean itinerary. On night one at around 7 or 8 pm the captain made an all ship announcement that due to a developing storm (it wasn't yet the strong hurricane it would become only 2 days later) that was targeting the Eastern Caribbean we would be moving to the Western Caribbean. It worked out fine and the crew didn't miss a beat.

Quick question about the internet. Does RCCL still have where you can purchase a one day package or 60 minutes? Or do you have to pick a week long package? Thanks.
-
Thanks, a follow-up for anyone who has gotten the select package before, does it include mimosas and bellinis or does that kick in, in the next package up?
Thanks again.
-
All,
I have never purchased a drink package before, but I purchased the premium one for my next cruise. My wife is more of a wine/champagne drinker. Does the "Select Package" also include champagne? I can't seem to figure it out.
Thanks!

My 2 cents, it also depends on the situation. What I mean is I am a family of 5 (myself, my wife and 3 kids). We booked recently during the 3-2-1 sale and kids sale free sale, plus additional OBC. We had been pricing cruises for a bit looking for a decent price and this cruise was over $2,500 less then the same ship/itinerary just without the "sale." Did everyone benefit from this? No, but if you had kids you did. So, I think whether you save money on a "sale" is specific to each person/family sailing.

Thanks for the helpful info. Since I've never used the Freestyle machines, I wasn't sure if they had any sort of sparkling or carbonated water in them.
-
I have never purchased any drink package on RCCL before. For my upcoming cruise I am going to get to the Premium drink package. Does anyone know, does this also include sparkling water?
Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. While they will let us do a "regular" ocean view balcony, I think we are going to do the larger family ocean view room. Thanks again everyone.
Symphony of the Seas Fragrance Shop

On my past cruises, I'd check out the shop that has fragrances and try one out for the night. At the end of the cruise I'd buy what I liked the most....like a test drive 🙂. As noted in prior posts, we have not cruised in a few years due to COVID. Just trying to confirm that Symphony of the Seas still has fragrances that can be sampled?
Thanks!
