  1. Anyone else had an email saying the embarkation berth has changed from the QEII terminal to City Cruise terminal? Not a problem, of course, but just hoping CPS parking are aware!

    I got the same email.

I live chatted with them this morning and they are. They said follow the instructions on the paperwork but head to City Terminal.

The girl also pointed out the ship is also returning to a different terminal at the end of the cruise, Ocean Terminal, and my car will be at Ocean terminal for disembarkation.

  2. Why would anyone on a ship with a very large variety of foods available.

Go and pay to each "junk food"?

Even if it was no extra cost I probably would not go...

The burgers, sandwiches etc are cooked to order on the griddle to your specification/toppings of your choice (nomatter the combo!), not precooked and sat under a heat lamp in the windjammer/kitchens for an hour. Bottomless fries/chilli fries/cheese fries made with again freshly fried fries/rings.

I personally love it, the staff are among the happiest and cheeriest on the ship, it has a nice atmosphere and they serve incredible and apple pie.

  3. You say liquor in the US and we say spirits in the UK, same thing. We call wine, wine.

For avoidance of doubt, in respect of bringing on alcoholic drinks, you are allowed to bring wine/champagne on board at boarding, nothing else.

Q: Can I bring alcohol or non-alcoholic beverages (from home or from a port) on board?

A: Guests are not allowed to bring beer, spirits or non-alcoholic beverages aboard for consumption or any other use. Guests may bring personal wine and champagne onboard only on boarding day, limited to two (2) 750 ml bottles per stateroom. When consumed in any public area, each bottle shall be subject to a corkage fee of USD 25.00. Additional bottles of wine beyond two (2) bottles that are brought aboard or any alcoholic beverages purchased in ports-of-call or from onboard shops will be stored by the ship and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the sailing. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned.

Security may inspect containers (water bottles, soft drinks bottles, mouthwash, luggage etc.) and will dispose of containers holding alcohol. Guests who violate any alcohol policies (over consume, supply alcohol to people aged under 21, demonstrate irresponsible behaviour or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and/or luggage check points or at any other time) may be disembarked or not allowed to board, at their own expense, in accordance with our Guest Conduct Policy. Guests who are under the permitted drinking age will not have alcohol returned to them.

  4. We cruise often on Princess and I always take my folding bike. It only weighs 30 lbs folded up and its checked like luggage. I assume RCCL will not have an issue with that. People always look at me in a odd way when I carry it down the hall and into elevators and always ask...where did you get that? On Princess they oftern store it for me on the disembarkation deck and I get it before getting off. Think RCCL will have an issue with it?

I think cruise lines should keep a supply of mountain bikes and rent them for use on port days. I love heading out and spending hours cycling around...best way to see the island/country.

I don't know if RCCL still allow it, but I randomly met the same couple, on 2 different cruises (a T/A in 2010 and a Med cruise 2012) who did just as you are suggesting. Both had a folding bike; RCCL stored them on the couples behalf and were seen at every port cycling around.

  5. Could anyone please tell me if they have done the RC dolphin excursion in Gibraltar or the St. Margharita/Portofino from Genoa? Any reviews would be a great help!

I have done the dolphin excursion in Gibraltar on 2 occasions, both times I booked myself.

The company they use is less than 10 minutes walk from the gangway and costs about half the RC cost if you book yourself, they have a website you can book through too.

Both times it was excellent, no bait or anything used to tempt the dolphins, they were under the boat, following it, playing in the wake. Well worth it.

  6. I am not being mean spirited but this whole thread is a bit silly. Looking for compensation from 8 years ago? Really? :D

Hold on, i was out walking 15 years ago and some drunk jock ran me over in his pickup causing me serious injury. I sued his @$$, he settled the lawsuit and i got paid, you mean i can not go back and ask for more money like 15 years later?

    Your pulling my prosthetic leg!

  7. From the RCCL website:

How soon after my cruise are the points added? As a Crown & Anchor Society member, your level in the programme depends on the number of cruise holidays you have taken. You earn a point for every night sailed. Therefore a 7 night cruise will earn you 7 points. However, if you are booked into a Junior Suite or above, you will receive double points, so a 7 night cruise will earn 14 points. To receive your points please ensure that your loyalty number is always included in your booking. You can do this either by asking your travel agent to add your loyalty number to your booking, or you can add your loyalty number yourself when you complete the online check in. If your number is in the booking then your points should be added automatically approximately 10 days after you disembark the ship. If the points added mean that you will move from one tier to the next, you will receive the benefits of the new tier on your next sailing with us. The tier benefits do not change mid-cruise.

From memory, the wording on the T&C part of the website states that you accrue C&A points based on each completed cruise.

  8. I know that Vitos north is good. There is a Walgreens close to the hotel that will have chocolate and soda. If you can't find the sodas that you want there, there are grocery stores (Publix and Winn-Dixie) about 4-6 blocks west.

    Thanks

    :D

  9. My wife and I will be flying in for a Transatlantic from Fort Lauderdale on Independence of the Seas on Saturday April 10th from the UK. We should be arriving at the Hilton Marina around 7/8PM but it will feel like 1 AM to us with the time change from the UK! I plan to nip out for quick fast food and back to bed. We will have been travelling for around 16 hours!! :D

I quite fancy some nice takeaway Pizza. Having used the joys of Google and Streetview, I think I have narrowed it down to Vitos Gourmet Pizza (South) on SE 17th Street, reviews look quite good, as does the menu/food photos and it's 0.5 miles from the hotel....and it's close to Subway for my wife's Plain footlong with only cheese!!! Would you reccomend Vitos or, if not, somewhere else within similar walking distance of our hotel.

Also, is there a store near the hotel I can stop off and stock up on some american chocolate/soda (Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Root Beer and I want to try some Mountain Dew!). :D

    Many thanks for your help.

    Robin
