  1. My wife and I booked a 12 night out of Barcelona on the Jewel next Oct 2020. We specifically booked out of Barcelona because we are both wheelchair bound and Barcelona is said to be very handicapped accessible. We just received an email saying that the departure port is being changed to Tarragona, Spain. Also one of the ports has also changed and Ive been unable so for to find out if its a tender or dock. We booked onboard the Serenade so we booked with non refundable deposit. Ill also go to the Disabled Boards to research Tarragona. Anyone had this happen where the departure port was changed? Was Royal willing to work with you? Any advice? Ill post updates as they become available.

I loved the suite lounge, and that is one of the principal reasons I book suites. I have a short video of the suite lounge if you want to take a look at it. The short version-- I hate being in lines on vacation. Having access to the concierge helps solve that. The lounge itself was a nice place to get away. They also have an excellent continental breakfast, and each afternoon have a cocktail reception and heavy appetizers.

I just watched your casino video (thanks for posting all of those videos). Its odd that there are mostly $1 slots. I would say most people are opposed to playing $5 a spin. But I guess using bad BJ rules and higher denomination slots shouldnt be a surprise.

  3. A van rental is a good idea but when I looked into that, it was very expensive. My wife and I just returned from FLL and had a nightmare cab ride from airport to hotel. Also the hotel shuttle was not accessible. We took it to/from cruise port as we are able to use crutches (we both use scooters) to get on the bus. The hotel however did not want us to take the shuttle to the airport so they called a cab for us. The manager told us that we were responsible for the fare. I had to get corporate involved. Because its illegal to provide complimentary service for able bodied people and charge disabled people for the same service.

Anyway, my best advice is to contact hotel/taxi/shuttle/van rental directly so there is no question about the services provided. Actually that still might not be 100% correct as we've found a lot of the time the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing. I hope your experience is better than ours was.

My wife and I are cruising on the Serenade on April 5 and one of our stops is Antigua. Since the President of Antigua doesnt want ships or passengers anymore, Im guessing that by the time we are supposed to dock, Royal will have decided to follow Carnival. My question is if this is the case will they try to add a port or a day at sea? Fortunately we dont have any excursions planned for Antigua so it wont affect us.

  5. The best head waiter we ever had was Tem Tem from the Philippines on the Mariner of the Seas. That was in 2013 and we are still facebook friends and have kept in contact. Im not sure exactly which ship he's on now, my wife asked but I cant remember.

  6. On the Costa Mediterranea in 2006 we were in line to board the tenders (I forget which Island). While we were waiting in line, two crew members were chatting with each other and one was complaining the we stupid Americans couldn't tell the difference between his English accent and an Australian accent. He went on and on about it for what seemed to be 20 mins. The line starts moving and as I went by I looked at him and loudly said "G'day mate, throw another shrimp on the barbie"!! LOL if looks could kill.
